Abstract: To cover the main contributions and developments in solar thermal collectors through focusing on materials, heat transfer characteristics and manufacturing challenges. A range of published papers and internet research including research work on various solar thermal collectors (flat plate, evacuated tubes, and heat pipe tube) were used. Evaluation of solar collectors performance is critiqued to aid solar technologies make the transition into a specific dominant solar collector. The sources are sorted into sections: finding an academic job, general advice, teaching, research and publishing, tenure and organizations. Provides information about types of solar thermal collectors, indicating what can be added by using evacuated tube collectors instead of flat plate collectors and what can be added by using heat pipe collectors instead of evacuated tubes. Focusing only on three types of solar thermal collectors (flat plate, evacuated tubes, and heat pipe tube). Useful source of information for consultancy and impartial advice for graduate students planning to do research in solar thermal technologies. This paper fulfils identified information about materials and heat transfer properties of materials and manufacturing challenges of these three solar thermal collectors. Describes some changes made to improve the environment which have had unforeseen and adverse effects on safety and the reasons why we need more case histories. Also discusses the reasons why there are no permanent solutions to safety problems and the reasons why senior managers should become more involved in safety problems.

Abstract: In order to characterize the temperature regulating ability of fabrics containing phase change material (PCM), the test has been designed. To assess temperature regulating ability, temperature regulating factor (TRF) is determined. TRF is defined as a quotient of the amplitude of the temperature variation of the hot plate and the amplitude of the heat flux variation divided by the steady state heat resistance of the fabric. The test instrument presented here is intended to be used for testing steady state and transient state characteristics of the apparel fabrics containing the PCMs. This test instrument can be used in quality control during the manufacture of fabrics containing PCMs. TRF can be used in clothing industry to establish the criteria for comfort parameters of textiles.

Abstract: The authors present the development of a scientific cloud computing environment (SCCE) for engineering and business simulations that offers high performance computation capability. The software platform consists of a scalable pool of virtual machines running a UNIX-like (Linux) or UNIX-derivative (FreeBSD) operating systems using specialised software based on modelling engineering processes and focused on business training and predictive analytics using simulations. The use of advanced engineering simulation technology allows engineers to understand and predict the future performance of complex structures and systems designs which can be optimized to reduce risk, improve performance or enhance survivability. A key component of cloud computing in Universities as well as in other research centers: they can share computing resources beyond their technical capabilities. With cloud computing, this allows them all to have access to large scales processing power based on KVM (Kernel based Virtual Machine). Our solution provides a more productive approach: a full scale virtualised computer with scalable storage space and instantly upgradable processing capability. It has more flexibility than other network computing systems and saves precious research time and money. Unlike the existing systems, the scientific community can receive support from a large number of specialists who may contribute by in a collaborative way.

Abstract: In recent years, with the urbanization in our country speeding up, the phenomena of wasting concrete due to the demolition and renovation are very common. For our country, resources are very scarce. How to reuse the waste concrete, so as to keep the sustainable utilization of building resources, is a topic worthy of deep thinking. In order to realize the full use of recycled concrete, this paper points out that the use of recycled concrete is the key to keep the sustainable utilization of natural resources. Based on this, it discusses the work performance, mechanical properties, durability properties, shear properties, seismic performance of recycled concrete and its performance evaluation.

Abstract: Time, Cost and Quality (TCQ) has become the de facto of managing projects, including engineering projects and it is also used as performance assessment model. However, many researchers have stressed the limitations of using this model (TCQ). In this response, this study develops a conceptual model ‘4Es’ (Effective, Economic, Efficient, Ethics) for effective managing engineering projects and for performance assessment. A qualitative approach was adopted for this research. Multiple case studies were utilised and the method used was interviews, documentary evidence and observations. This was followed with an analysis, intellectual discussion and the development of the 4Es model as the essential tool for managing projects and for performance assessment. It is established that the aim of every client is to have ‘value for money’ (VfM). However, achieving VfM is not necessarily managing TCQ separately. It is concluded that, the 4Es model takes into consideration TCQ, Environmental impact and Resources by balancing these factors to generate optimal value. In addition, it is a performance assessment model.

Abstract: Based on the definition of the irrigation coefficient, we discussed the main factors which affect the irrigation coefficient as well as the measures to improve the irrigation coefficient in agriculture. According to the variation and the different features of the irrigation coefficient in different regions and conditions, this article not only explores the basic way to improve the irrigation coefficient, but also gives measures including water apportion measures, management and engineering measures. The potential ability of improving the irrigation coefficient is analyzed preliminarily in the real situation of Chinese irrigation methods and techniques.

Abstract: Computer Aided Engineering are all tools for implementing of simulations and engineering calculations on 3D digital models and assemblies created in the CAD module. Computational algorithm works based on Finite Element Method - FEM. In connection with the design of structural design out strength calculations to determine the stress and strain in the loaded part of the structure is usually carried out. A network of elements is defined on a 3D digital model or assembly. Geometric and structural boundary conditions are specified according to functionality of construction.

Abstract: Based on features of the geological environment in Tangshan, this paper selects 14 evaluation factors like earthquake and fissure to conduct comprehensive regionalism and analysis. The result shows that the research area can be divided into four parts, Level-I (excellent) area accounting for 0.74% , Level-II (good) area accounting for 37.5%, Level-III (acceptable) area accounting for 52.26%, Level-IV(poor) area accounting for 9.5%.on one hand, the northern mountain area is characterized by collapse, landslide and debris flow. On the other hand, the southern mountain area is characterized by subsidence and seawater encroachment. On the whole, the overall geological environment is poor. Therefore, reasonable land planning and unban construction is of great importance to a coordinated and stable economy in Tangshan.

Abstract: Taking the wheel slip-ratio as a control object, the basic theory of fuzzy control is analyzed, the fuzzy controller of ABS is constructed, and the model reference fuzzy adaptive control algorithm is also adopted, the simulation of ABS characteristic is performed under three different road surface conditions. Simulation results show that the simulations to model reference adaptive control are feasible and vehicle can brake at the optimal slip-ratio on different surfaces. The safety performance required by ABS is realized.

Abstract: In the process of engineering project construction, cost management should be closely around three big targets: cost control, quality control and progress control. This paper analyzes the interacting relationship of these factors, then discussing the elements of engineering cost management based on the earned value method. Finally, it proposed some corresponding suggestions and measures for the developing of cost management.
