Abstract: Epoxy resin (EP) be widely used owning to its superior performance and usability, however the flammability of EP bring trouble for its application. So, flame retardant of EP is very important research subject. This article reviewed the flame retardant methods for EP, and introduces research results from the types of phosphorus-containing flame retardant, organic montmorillonite (OMMT) flame retardant, hydrogen peroxide flame retardant and double hydroxyl hydroxides (LDH) flame retardant respectively.

Abstract: OMMT was compounded by MMT and 1% (v/v) acetic acid dissolved chitosan via solution intercalate method, and then prepared the composites with epoxy resin. The change about spacing of montmorillonite was tested by XRD, and the molecular structure of OMMT was tested by Fourier infrared spectrum. The tensile strength and impact strength of epoxy resin composites were also tested. The result showed that the spacing of montmorillonite first increased then decreased along with the increasing mass fraction of chitosan. The maximum value (d001=1.983 nm) appeared when mass fraction of chitosan was 30%. And tensile strength and impact strength were improved by 86.8 and 51.2% respectively.

Abstract: Nd:YAG pulsed laser cutting carbon fibers reinforced epoxy resins composites was studied. HAZ and kerf width was made as evaluation index, as well as laser pulse energy, cutting speed, pulse duration and assistant gas pressure was made as controlled parameters. Ideal quality of cutting can be achieved by adjusting those parameters. The effect of each parameter was analyzed.

Abstract: The effect of SiC particles sizes on erosion wear behaviour of SiC/epoxy resin composite was studied on self-made slurry erosion wear tester. The results show that the erosion wear rate of SiC/epoxy resin composite would be decreased with the increase of SiC particle sizes. With the increase of impact angle, the erosion wear rate would be increased first, and then decreased, it would be peak value when the erosion wear test was carried out at 60° impact angle. When SiC particles were mixed with different sizes, the erosion wear rate of SiC/epoxy resin composite would be lowest. The erosion wear mechanism of SiC/epoxy resin composite was analyzed by observation of worn surface morphology.
