Abstract: Applications of electronic noses to classify the freshness of food and beverages by mimicking the olfactory perception are becoming widely recognized in food industries. For pasteurized orange juice, packaging and shelf-life are key factors for the quality control, which are generally inspected by the sensory stability and quality (odor, color, texture and taste) of the orange juice. An electronic nose based on five different commercial metal oxide gas sensors, a temperature sensor and a humidity sensor has been designed and constructed to examine the quality of orange juice as subjected to the fermentation process. The duration for a single measurement from an orange juice sample was approximately two minutes. The data acquisition of the voltage responses of the gas sensors were achieved via a microcontroller unit. The data classification was statistically analyzed by the “Principal Component Analysis (PCA)”. The Euclidean distance between two PCA groups was used as an indicator of ethanol concentration. The orange juice was laced with various concentrations of ethanol from 0.1 to 1.0% ethanol to simulate fermented orange juice at different stages. The objective was to characterize the freshness of orange juice by means of the ethanol level from the fermentation process. The results show a distinctive classification of the orange juice for an alcohol concentration lower than 0.1%. Thus the electronic nose offers a rapid, highly sensitive alternative for the quality control process.

Abstract: ECG waveform has becoming a new kind of Biometric signal for person identification recently. The identification procedure was based on the establishment of person's own ECG waveform template, one beat of ECG waveform was used as analysis data, 15 persons were involved in the study. In the paper, several algorithms are compared for their ability to identify person. The algorithms are coefficient threshold method and Euclidean distance threshold method, their measurement was based on linear distance. Hausdorff distance threshold method as a non linear distance was also compared. Except this, SWM(support vector machine) was also introduced to do the identification work. From the experimental results, Euclidean distance threshold method and the Hausdorff distance threshold method reached same level of identification, the acceptance rate is around 76.0%, the correlation coefficient threshold method reached 86.0%. As to the SVM, its acceptance rate near 96.0%. Although the amount of experiment data was relatively small, but the result give the researching in good promising and better prospecting.

Abstract: Echo fidelity is an important characteristic of radar simulator and it influences accuracy and reliability of radar test directly. This paper introduces the research status of simulator fidelity and sort out the definition and property of radar echo simulation fidelity. Then we propose the numerical calculation methods for individual indicators, including similarity calculation, dissimilarity computing and interval changes three parts. Finally, on the basis of the evaluation system, we propose two calculation methods for entirety fidelity, they are weighted numerical calculation and umbrella figure methods.

Abstract: Fuel cells having a high energy conversion efficiency with low restriction of installation space is rising as a new eco-friendly renewable energy source. Fuel cells are largely divided into MCFC, SOFC, PEMFC, DMFC, etc. according to the type to be transferred. In this study the four fields were analyzed from a diversity aspect, a social network aspect and a distance aspect. Results showed PEMFC and MCFC to apply the most diverse technology, and catalyst technology and hydrogen fuel manufacturing areas were observed developing in all four fields. In addition, many studies were found to be commonly conducted for fuel cell vehicles in the PEMFC and SOFC fields. PEMFC is expected to have the highest effect with technology development, specifically commercialization of the Fuel Cell Vehicles through an active technology development. Development in the SOFC and MCFC fields are expected to promote home fuel cell use.

Abstract: Clustering result is easily influenced by the initial clustering centers in the K-means algorithm,an improved algorithm about initial clustering centers selection is presented. The algorithm finds the maximun Euclidean distance of cluster firstly, and then makes the cluster to split by used two data objects which have the maximum distance as new clustering centers, repeat the above steps until the specified number of clustering centers are obtained.Compared to the original algorithm, the improved algorithm can solve the problem of the instability of clustering effect generated by randomness, and its time complexity was also decreased.

Abstract: K-means clustering algorithm clusters datasets according to the certain clustering number k.However k cannot be confirmed beforehand.A new clustering validity index was designed from the standpoint of sample geometry.Based on the index a new method for determining the optimal clustering number in K-means clustering algorithm was proposed.

Abstract: By using Hamilton improved circle, transversely and longitudinally cut up paper join together. By scanning image and image extraction techniques, the images of shredded paper are obtained. The process of shredding splicing is mainly divided into two parts, the image preprocessing and edge matching. Then the images conver into grey value matrixes and binarization are implemented on the image with appropriate threshold. The images of shredded paper are classified into nineteen lines. With the shortest Euclidean distance between the edge of shredding and Hamilton improved circle, shredded paper is transversely spliced. The test shows that accuracy is as high as 100%.

Abstract: As the most important medium of communication in human beings life, speech carries abundant emotional information. In recent years, how to recognize the speakers emotional state automatically from the speech is attracting extensive attention of researchers in various fields. In this paper, we studied the method of speech emotion recognition. We collected a total of 360 sentences from four speakers with the emotional statement about happiness, anger, surprise, sadness, and extracted eight emotional characteristics from these voice data. Contribution analysis method is proposed to determine the value of emotion characteristic parameters. We also have used the weighted Euclidean distance template matching to identify the speech emotion, got more than 80% of the average emotional recognition rate.

Abstract: Posture recognition plays an important role in three-dimensional virtual experiments, it means that to complete its specific function by a particular posture to control program in responding an action. In order to easy use and making the posture recognition more accurate, this article proposed the use of Kinect sensor to get articulation point information, through its the Euclidean distance and angle of the articular point to distinguish a particular posture. The results show that this method can get higher recognition rate, and expand action library at any time to meet the decision requirements of different postures. Its helpful to reuse software and improve the efficiency in the use of virtual experiment.

Abstract: Fault dictionary is the most practical method of fault diagnosis in analog circuit. Before analog circuit with tolerance is diagnosed, circuit is simulated by computer. Typical parameters of every state are used to build fault dictionary. Distance algorithm is used to calculate the similarity between current circuit and every state of fault dictionary. Analog circuit with tolerance can be diagnosed by the distance. Firstly, the method of simulation-before-test is introduced to build fault dictionary. Secondly, familiar distance algorithm is resumed, such as Euclidean distance. Finally, an example of fault diagnosis of analog circuit with tolerance is provided. In the example, simulation-before-test and distance algorithm are combined to diagnose analog circuit with tolerance. Two distance methods are compared to explain the advantages and disadvantages of the Euclidean distance algorithm.
