Abstract: Based on the basic knowledge of reconfigurable manufacturing system and axiomatic design, this paper designed the reconfigurable manufacturing system through two axioms (independence axiom and information axiom) of axiomatic design. In the application of independence axiom, the general goal was decomposed into four levels and each decomposition was accomplished by four steps with their respective design equations. And then the corresponding functional structure table in summary is listed. While in the application of information axiom, the information content of system was calculated under the circumstances of uncoupled design and quasi-coupled design. Finally, the problems and their corresponding solutions of the two axioms of axiomatic design were put forward.

Abstract: Reconfigurable manufacturing system is be decomposed in this paper, and the case of non-coupling and the case of quasi-coupled are be selected, the axiomatic design is be used in reconfigurable manufacturing system. Put forward the concept that X is the operator, and give a new concept of and.Reconfigurable manufacturing systems are be split and be reorganized accordingly by using axiomatic design innovatively: According to the demand of market, the whole manufacturing system is be split into a combination of some of the features of manufacturing systems; combine some of the features to form the entire manufacturing system.

Abstract: The facility layout design is the key problem in manufacturing system. Based on the constraints such as the cost of facility logistics and the space of equipment, this paper sets up a Quadratic Assignment Problem model of facility layout. The model is solved using Differential Evolution algorithm according to the features of facility layout, which is combined with Random Key technology. The test results performed on the liner and circular layout show the proposed approach can solve effectively the facility layout design problem.

Abstract: To enlarge production to meet the market demand, its nessasery to improve the present facility layout for MTO (Make-To-Order) manufacturing enterprises. This paper tries to design a optimization method based on genetic algorithm for the facility layout of MTO enterprises. Firstly, SLP (systematic layout planning) was applied to analyze the material and non-material flow interrelation of the workshop. Secondly, a relatively optimum layout was determined after using fuzzy hierarchy estimation to evaluate the schemes. Then the scheme was optimized with genetic algorithm. The result shows that the optimized logistics transport load is obviously less than before. This design method based on genetic algorithm (GA) is proved feasible and effective in the optimization of facility layout.

Abstract: Due to introduction of new vehicle models, an automobile manufacturing enterprise usually needs to make corresponding adjustments of the facility layout of the door welding workshop. On the basis of analyzing the production process and logistics characteristics of the welding line, the facility layout of the workshop is improved and the production logistics cost is reduced by using the SLP (Systematic Layout Planning) and internal logistics analysis method. Finally, a real production example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Abstract: This paper builds a mathematical model and designs an improved algorithm based on the lowest horizontal line search algorithm for the layout problem of the multi-sized rectangular operating units in the rectangular facility. This algorithm processes the horizontal lines and takes the minimum value of the length or width of the operating unit which is waiting to be arranged as a threshold to filter out the unusable horizontal line. And the empirical analysis demonstrates that the algorithm in this paper can give a good solution for the layout problem effectively.

Abstract: When solving facility layout problem for the digital workshop to optimize the production, the traditional genetic algorithm has its flaws with slow convergence speed and that the accuracy of the optimal solution is not ideal. This paper analyzes those weak points and proposed an improved genetic algorithm according to the characteristics of multi-species and variable-batch production mode. The proposed approach improved the convergence speed and the accuracy of the optimal solution. The presented model of GA also has been tested and verified by simulation.

Abstract: Single-row facility layout is widely used in manufacturing system. It has a very important effect on the performance of manufacturing system. The single-row facility layout, including linear, U-shape, and semi-circular layout are introduced firstly. Based on the lower selling price of customers’ demand, the components of manufacturing cost are analyzed secondly. Then the relationship between the manufacturing cost and objectives of single-row layout are described. Meanwhile, the mathematical and simulation models related to several parts of manufacturing cost of single-row layout are set up respectively. Finally, the simulation of these models for single-row layout is running in QUEST. After analyzing the simulation results, conclusions are obtained: (1) material handling cost of semi-circular layout is the lowest among the three types of single-row facility layout; (2) area utilization rate of U-shape layout is higher than others; (3) equipment and labor utilization of U-shape layout is the higher than others in the same moment. This research results will

Abstract: In a Cellular Manufacturing System (CMS), parts based on their similarities are grouped into part families, and are assigned to one or more machine cells to be manufactured. In the design of a CMS, facility layout problem aims to arrange machine cells in the shop floor and facilities in the machine cells in order to have an efficient layout. In this study, a previously developed cellular layout model will be illustrated and validated for a well-known case from the literature. Lingo optimization software version 12.0 and an enumeration method will be used to solve, and validate the model. The results of this study show the validity of the proposed model.

Abstract: In this paper, a layout is designed for reclaimed rubber factory by applying systematic layout planning (SLP) method. Considering the enterprise current situation and future development plan, the relation graph for all workshops in the company is obtained by analyzing material and non- material flows, and two feasible layout plans are put forward. Applying the comparative law of equivalent flow capacity, these two plans are compared, and then the final objective and optimal design is obtained. With this layout redesign, the logistics operational efficiency is improved, and the production system is optimized.
