Abstract: New tools for flat grinding of ceramics (Al2O3) are presented in the paper. Electroplated CBN tools (B64 and B107) were used in a modified single-disc lapping machine configuration. The results from experiments, such as the material removal rate and surface roughness parameters are presented and analyzed. Numerical simulations, based on the model for the shape error and tool wear estimation in machining with flat lapping kinematics, are also presented. The tool life of electroplated tools can be extended by choosing appropriate parameter K related to the process kinematics.

Abstract: Laccase from Rhus vernicifera was applied to catalyze the polymerization of gallic acid (GA) as a way of “in situ” dyeing and finishing for wool, silk, nylon, cotton and viscose fabrics. The laccase-catalyzed polymerization of GA was confirmed by the results of UV-vis spectroscopy and differential thermal analysis. The adsorption of the GA oxidation product on the fibers contributed to the color effect and functional performance of treated fabrics. The dyed fabrics exhibited gray colors with pale to medium shades, depending on fiber categories. All the dyed fabrics showed significantly enhanced UV protection performance and antioxidant activity, and the dyed wool and silk had obviously improved deodorizing ability. These improved functional properties were related to the increased quantity of aromatic rings, phenolic hydroxyl groups and carboxyl groups in the GA oxidation product adsorbed by fibers.

Abstract: A new reactive water-soluble isothiazolinone antibacterial was synthesized and characterized by 1H-NMR and ESI-MS. Through the orthogonal experiments, the optimal finishing process for cotton fabric was got, that was the bath ratio 1:20, Na2SO4 20 g/L, NaHCO3 15 g/L, t1: 30 min, t2: 50 min, T1: 50oC, T2: 95oC. The antibacterial evaluations of treated cotton fabrics showed that the antibacterial rate for S. aureus was 92.92%, and 86.04% after 50 washing cycles. The results indicated that the treated fabric had excellent antibacterial performance and washing durability.

Abstract: The article explored the finishing process of cotton fabric with nano titanium dioxide and adopted the dipping-rolling-drying process for the purpose of cotton fabric with good ultraviolet (UV) resistant performance. In this study, the concentration of titanium dioxide acted as variable factor to test and analysis the regular pattern of fabric UV resistant performance, mechanical properties and wearability after being treated with different concentrations of titanium dioxide solution. The results showed that the property of UV resistance improved with the increase of solution concentration. The ultraviolet protection factors (UPF) of fabric was 43.5 at a concentration of 0.5%, which was beyond the UV resistant standard of 40. However, the mechanical properties and wearability decreased in varying degrees with the increase in concentration of titanium dioxide. Thus the overall performance should be considered comprehensively to select the finishing process. All of these conclusions provide basic data for some in-depth research in the future.

Abstract: Durable press (DP) finishing is the common process to impart anti-creasing properties to cotton fabrics. Conventionally, the whole fabric was treated by pad-dry-cure (PDC) process in one treating bath. However, this process led to the serious loss of the cotton fabrics in mechanical properties. In this work, the cotton yarns were treated with DP finishing solution. And subsequently, they were dried and cured in a certain temperature. The wrinkle recovery angle (WRA) of yarns was measured. The relationship between the treating process and WRA was studied. The affecting parameters on WRA were acquired by experiment. This work provides basic data for people to know and understand the role of anti-creasing yarns in the whole fabric.

Abstract: This paper shows the derivation of a proposed process equation for surface roughness change during magneto-rheological finishing (MRF), where surface roughness is expressed as a function of work done by the tangential force. By expressing surface roughness as a function of the work done, the equation enables real-time prediction of surface roughness change during an MRF process from the input of real-time force data. Experiments were carried out to verify the validity of the proposed equation for different tool revolution speed and different tool-to-surface gap. It was found that there is a strong correlation between surface roughness and work done for the said variation of experimental conditions. The theoretical roughness curves generated from the proposed process equation also fit the experimental data reasonably well.

Abstract: According to the fact that the common machining medium used in magnetic abrasive finishing (magnetic abrasive) possessed disadvantages such as high preparation cost, easier to disperse in finishing process, and low utilization and repeat -utilization, this paper puts forward spherical magnetic abrasive of a certain size as magnetic abrasive machining medium, discusses the preparation techniques, establishes the mathematical model of finishing, and analyses the main performance parameter influencing finishing quality and finishing efficiency. Compared with magnetic grinding, spherical magnetic abrasive is not easy to disperse, can be re-used, having long service life and high finishing efficiency and quality. It is a magnetic finishing medium hasing development research value.

Abstract: Fabric art plays a vital role in the interior design. It is the most widely used elements in the interior ornament, including yarn, mantle, bedding, sofa, carpets, wall hangings and the cover of furniture …, almost everything. In general, in addition to a decorative role, the fabric art also has the following functions: Dividing the interior space; strengthen the privacy protection; integration of the relationship between human and space, materialized occupant‘s personality. But a professional design project is systematic. It is not to decorate a space simply. So, depending on fabric art excessively to decorate a space is not right and it is worth discussing how to use fabric art reasonably.

Abstract: To investigate the efficiency of nano-antibacterial finishing methods, we compared the advantages and disadvantages of the current antibacterial method and presented out a newly finishing technics based on the nano-zinc-oxide material. Moreover, the experimental study and optimal choice were carried out for the formulations of finishing agent in its preparation. The results shown that by adapting the zinc-oxide based formulated compound with the special technics, the antibacterial effect is obvious. The antibacterial effect of the textile has no significant change after soaping and water washing 10 times or above.

Abstract: Basically, the Magnetic Assisted (MA) processes of the surface finishing can be divided into two groups: processes based on abrasion and plastic deformation. In this paper the authors present the results of experimental and developing work regarding the Magnetic Assisted Roller Burnishing (MARB) process that operates by plastic deformation and the strain hardening effect. Using Finite Element Method (FEM) modelling software system was prepared to demonstrate the experimental results.
