Abstract: Based on the generalization of research results on the processes of obtaining SiO2 sols using tetraethoxysilane and ethyl silicates, the main factors influencing the elasticity of silica coatings on cotton fabrics and their fire-retardant properties are considered. The possibility of forming covalent bonds between the functional groups of cellulose, gel coating and flame retardant layer is considered, which explains the strong fixation of a thin layer of coating on the fibers of the fabric and improve its fire protection. The use of the developed compositions for fire-retardant elastic coatings based on ethyl silicate allows to increase the time of complete burning of cotton from 30s (untreated fabric) to 600s (treated with binary coating).

Abstract: The issues relating to an increase in the fire-resistance of concrete structures by applying (heat dissipating) fire-retardant and fire resistant metal coatings onto them was considered. The experimental investigation data obtained for the heating rate of the brick coated with the aluminum layer as heat dissipating coating were given. The investigation was carried out through the comparison of a time-dependent change in the temperature of the material coated with the aluminum layer with the temperature of uncoated material. The obtained research results proved a decrease in the heating rate of the coated brick exposed to the thermal irradiation.

Abstract: The technological progress constantly raises standards for items operated in rough conditions in order to improve their reliability in a wide range of operating temperatures, fire resistance and sustainability. Researches aimed at discovering flame retardant agents that would help to develop siloxane rubbers with increased fire-resistance are of great scientific interest and have a practical significance. We have studied the effect of aluminium hydroxide on the physical and mechanical properties and fire-resistance of siloxane rubbers. The study has shown that the aluminium hydroxide acts as an effective fire retardant at its content in the rubber over 40 % (wt.), however, it significantly decreases the physical and mechanical properties of the siloxane rubbers and causes difficulties in processing of the rubber mix. The research has shown that the additional introduction of organoclays (5 pts. wt.) improves the fire-resistance of such rubbers, the most effective being montmorillonites modified with alkylbenzyldimethylammonium chloride.

Abstract: The article describes the aspects of fire protection of high-rise buildings. Various methods of protection of unique buildings from fire and explosion in the world practice were considered. For example, using the innovative fire-resistant materials on load-bearing structures, their characteristics and rationing, progressive collapse. The comparative analysis of various types of fire-resistant plaster by such parameters as the chemical composition, fire resistance, durability, density, thickness of the layer was made. Perspectives of development of fireproof plaster compositions were projected.

Abstract: In case the structure is exposed to the high temperature, the lateral shear crack is the major cause exposing the steel bar to the high temperature and also the major cause of the collapse of buildings. In the study, in order to control the lateral shear crack, the presterssing using strands in a reverse direction of the lateral shear crack has applied and the fire resistance test of the PS corrugated web composite beam has been carried out, produced in a corrugated type of the steel to increase the efficiency of the prestressing. As a result of the test, the lateral shear crack introducing the PS has been reduced but it has been concluded that in case the strands are failed, the brittle failure can be taking place.

Abstract: This paper reports the investigation on the fire resistance performance of reinforced concrete column with embedded permanent formwork from woodwool board (WWCB). A series of slender column embedded with and without WWCB with cross-sections 200 mm x 200 mm for column without WWCB and 300 mm x 300 mm with embedded 50 mm thick WWCB. The height of the slender column was 2000 mm. The fire resistance test was performed in accordance with BS 476-22:1987 for two (2) hours fire exposure. The fire resistance test for the embedded column with WWCB was classified as “good” in resisting fire and heat transfer.

Abstract: The preservation and revitalization of the large number of old buildings in our cities is an important task of sustainable architecture. New and changing functions often pose new requirements for the structures of these buildings; therefore it is also often necessary to verify the fire-resistance of brick vaults. Vaults are robust constructions, but their sizing is not an easy task, because like most old structures their material properties and geometry may be unknown due to their inaccessible position. Vaults that at first estimate appear completely adequate may turn out to be questionable after more detailed calculations.

Abstract: Under the condition of high temperature, steel basic mechanical property index such as strength, elastic modulus falls sharply. Once there is a fire, long-span reticulated shell has serious damage. This paper, taking Kiewitt reticulated spherical shell as an example, uses ISO - 834 standard temperature - time curve to simulate fire and analyze the distribution of temperature field calculation and mechanical. Analysis by using transient thermal analysis in ANSYS software. Through ANSYS software to analog fire resistant properties of reticulated shell under the action of local fire resistant properties, it is concluded that the fire in the different parts of the structure on the structural deformation and destruction of the structure form, to a certain extent, reflects the overall structure fire resistance of spatial reticulated shell.
