Abstract: The mechanics characteristics of the rock are mainly subjected by the joint and the fractures of the rock mass. For the joint, the surface morphology is especially the dominant influence factor. In order to describe the nature physics of rock surface, the surface morphology embarked on a fractured granite rock is described. And use the fractal dimension to calculate the volume of covering rock fracture surface, the relationship between fractal dimension and physical characteristics of rock surface.

Abstract: Vertical bearing capacity experiments were conducted with circular double-layer stirrup confined concrete columns as study objects, data acquisition was carried out using acoustic emission (AE) equipment and the AE parameters and graphs acquired during the experiments were analyzed to obtain the damage evolution of steel reinforced concrete columns under compression. The correlation between fractal dimension of AE graphs and curve was studied using the fractal theory, and the results show that the AE parameter graphs have fractal characteristics and the box dimension of each AE parameter graph constantly increases with the increase in stress, with a positive correlation exhibited between the fractal dimension and stress level. The loss variable expressed with fractal dimension was defined to establish actual equivalent stresses and the equivalent stress curves and experimental curves were compared; the results show that the fractal dimension of acoustic emission parameter graph can characterize the damage laws of the concrete member.

Abstract: This paper study on AC-13 skeleton dense-graded asphalt mixtures by fractal theory, obtaining that both aggregate size and gradation have fractal character. Compared three kinds of asphalt mixture, we found that there was a strong correlation between fractal dimension of aggregate and aggregate size distribution. AC-13 skeleton dense-graded asphalt mixtures were tested. The results show that the aggregate fractal dimension has a good correlation with mixture’s bulk density, mineral aggregate gap rate, percentage of voids and asphalt degree of saturation too. The study is useful for reference to the readers who engage in further study of the fractal theory’s application to asphalt mixtures.

Abstract: The mathematic theories of traditional flood classification methods are complicated and difficult to calculate. And it is difficult to determine the weights of evaluation index objectively. In this paper the idea of fractal dimension which reflects the target complexity as an index weight is put forward. At the same time paying attention to the fuzzy character of evaluation standard boundary value, the new flood classification method which based on fractal fuzzy set pair analysis is suggested. The suggested method is used in flood classification of the Tuwei River basin (a sub-basin of the Yellow River). The results show that the suggested method is objective, simple and effect, the result of classification is feasible.

Abstract: We have studied the scaling evolution of the structure and magnetic properties of the melt-spun Fe70Cr15B15(Sn) alloys. The magnetic percolation cluster about the percolation threshold forms at the vitrification stage that is determined by both the kinetics of magnetic and of transport properties and the variation of fractal dimensionality. Alloying by tin of contact surface of ribbon decreases the temperature of the cluster formation. It is shown that the evolution of a fractal ordering affects the kinetics of the physical properties of the alloys. The spectra of fractal dimensionality identify the symmetry character of melt-spun alloys. Fractal dimension Df is reduced at the increasing complexity of hierarchical system.

Abstract: This paper describes a cloud simulation method of an airborne weather radar simulator based on the atmosphere characteristics of real clouds. With the fractal theory, an improved Successive Random Additions (SRA) to instruct cloud data modeling was chosen and an appropriate locus of control surfaces was selected. On the basis of the locus of control surfaces and the surface generated in the way of fractal this surface, weighted fusion generated a predetermined shape of the cloud data model. According to the generating rules, the data model was mapped to color values in the corresponding points, and the corresponding relation between height and color values was constructed. Finally, the screen cloud image of the airborne weather radar was drawn. The implementation shows that the method is real time and can be used to generate satisfied simulation radar image.

Abstract: The problems of the multifunction sensors development make inefficient of design traditional methods application. Work purpose is an effective approach creation to the analysis and synthesis of sensors physical functional principle and creation on its basis mathematical, algorithmic and informational software for multifunction quantity sensors conceptual design automation. Authors propose the problem solution method based on fractal approach application to the theory of energy and information circuit models. For this purpose the physical functional principle sensor modeling fractal concept and mechanisms of its realization are created. This work results are new computer technique, software for the automatic synthesis of the multifunction sensors physical functional principle and two new multifunction sensors utility models automatically generated by developed software.

Abstract: The zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by solvothermal method for 18 h at150 ̊ C with presence of DEA. The molar ratio of Zn2+ solution and DEA was fixed at 1:1. The nanostructure was studied using Small Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS) in BATAN, Indonesia. From calculation, it shows that the material has surface fractal with primary particle size of 25 nm and agglomerate size of ̴ 200 nm. X-ray diffraction (XRD) was done and the the crystallite size was calculated using Scherrer equation. Field emission electron microscopy (FESEM) was done to observe the morphological structure. It shows that the sphere-like agglomerates construct of primary nanoparticles of ZnO.

Abstract: The fractals of the optimization problems are first discussed. The multi-fractal parameters of the optimal objective function are computed by the Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA) method. The multi-fractal general Hurst Index is related to the difficulty to solve the optimization problem. These features are verified by analyzing the first six test functions proposed on 2005 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation. The results show that the different objective functions have obvious different multifractal and the general Hurst Index can be used to evaluate the difficulty to solve the optimization problem.
