Abstract: In order to respond to rapidly changing manufacturing environment and market, supply chain must be flexible, adaptable and reconfigurable. The potentials of changes in organization structure caused by changes in businesses must be taken into consideration during structural modeling of the supply chain. These can be accomplished with a fractal-based architecture. A structure model with the properties of self-similarity, self-organization, self-optimization, goal-orientation, dynamics and vitality is proposed in this paper. Fractal-based nature of the supply chain can be analyzed and optimized with the model, which adapts quickly to the dynamical change of the market.

Abstract: According to different morphology of trees in the nature, tree simulation based on Iterated Function System Algorithm and its mapping process was discussed. In order to overcome the inadequacy of traditional method: dull color and rough picture, an improved Iterated Function System Algorithm for tree shading was proposed. Also the corresponding relationship was analysed between the affine transformation coefficients and the characteristic parameters of different trees, various forms of trees could be generated successfully by controlling the characteristic parameters of the tree. Again fractal animation-tree swaying was discussed. Finally, through the method mentioned above, tree animation and different forms of trees could be realized successfully .in the environment of Visual C++, and the results prove that the method is effective.

Abstract: The raceway boundary described with contour field is coarse and fragmentized, but all of previous studies are based on Euclidean geometry. In this paper, particle velocity contour has been developed to define the raceway boundary. Then the fractal method of calculating raceway size, which describe boundary with extremely un-regular or fragment characteristic, is brought forward in physical model. The results show that the precise raceway boundary can be obtained by particle velocity contour.

Abstract: In recent years, the virtual-reality simulation technology has developed so fast which has been widely used in military and people’s daily lives, etc. As the essential element of the three-dimensional scene, modeling of trees becomes increasingly important. There are many methods for 3D modeling trees such as 3DMAX modeling, the bulletin board technology, the crossing panel and the LOD technology. However, these methods are not so effective either for the bad real-time performance caused by the large quantity of data or the unsatisfactory 3D effect. Therefore, this paper is aiming at proposing a 3D tree modeling method which was based on the combination of Fractal and Non-rectangular raster image technology.

Abstract: In this papper, based on the study of basic algorithm of fractal DLA model, the standard DLA model was modified by setting the parameters, and the PS-b-PAA block copolymer representating a kind of flower-like aggregation was taken as the research object. Through observating the growth characteristics of this kind of flower-like aggregations formed in different external conditions, their fractal characteristics were determined by box-counting method. Then the modified DLA model combined with the image processing technology was used to simulate this kind of flower-like aggregations. Finally, the simulated results were evaluated through visual observation and fractal dimension.

Abstract: After data preprocessing, the autoregressive(AR) bispectrum diagonal slices were figured and fractal box dimensions were calculated. The results show that the box dimensions are different in evidence under different conditions. So the fault pattern recognitions of the relief valve are effective by the method of using fractal box dimension of AR bispectrum diagonal slices, it provides a simple and accurate method for fault diagnosis of the relief valve.

Abstract: Multi-fractal theory is used to detect fractal behaviors embedded in grain size distribution ofsinter with low SiO2. Impacts of SiO2, basicity, and MgO on structures of sinter ore are measured quantitatively by means of fractal dimension dm, d(1) and multi-fractal strength Δd. Increase of SiO2 induces decrease of fractal dimension and multi-fractal strength. While proper levels of carbon, basicity, and MgO lead to minimum values of fractal dimension and multi-fractal strength. This kind of quantitative measurement of structures in sinter ore can help us to investigate the relation of mechanical properties and structures in a quantitative way.

Abstract: In view of the generation of fractal images, the applications of fractal in textile engineering are summarized into two parts. Firstly, fractal images are used in textile image design, textile pattern design and so on. Secondly, fabric properties, such as woven fabric permeability analysis, fabric defect detection, texture analysis of the fabric surface and so on, are analyzed based on fractal theory. The applications of fractal images provide some new creative ideas for textile pattern design. The fractal theory is a powerful tool to solve the complex problems of textile engineering.

Abstract: In this paper, we firstly devise a p-ary subdivision scheme based on normal vectors with multi-parameters to generate fractals. The method is easy to use and effective in generating fractals since the values of the parameters and the directions of normal vectors can be designed freely to control the shape of generated fractals. Secondly, we illustrate the technique with some design results of fractal generation and the corresponding fractal examples from the point of view of visualization. Finally, some fractal properties of the limit of the presented subdivision scheme are described from the point of view of theoretical analysis.
