Abstract: It is established that the eliminations of construction sand with the content of SiO2 about 70 wt. % and particle size less than 60 mk are suitable for the production of a foamglass-crystal material on the basis of the low-temperature frit, which was synthesized at the temperature 900 °C. The obtained foamglass-crystal material exceeds foamglass (by 3.0 times) and clayite (by 1.5 times) by strength and is characterized by low value of water absorption (0.1 %).

Abstract: Nanogetters, based on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) coated Ti films, do have higher pumping speed and possibly larger sorbed quantity compared with traditional getters, such as St175 of SAES [1]. Although the nanogetter is with the outstanding performance, it is still hard to be integrated into micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS) packaging and devices due to high growth temperature of CNTs (>700°C) [2], poor adhesion with substrate [3, 4], vulnerability to pollute the wafers and difficulty to pattern. Therefore, this paper proposes a promotion of nanogetter based on transferring out vertically aligned CNTs (VA-CNTs) utilizing the glass frit. Compared with the conventional nanogetters, the promotion processes have advantages of (1) compatibility to the MEMS materials with controllable melting temperature and coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE), (2) Enhancement of the adhesion between CNTs and substrate, (3) Avoiding polluting the package wafer during CNTs growth. The results indicate that the promotion processes can be fulfilled by the silicon wafers and have wide applications such as nanogetters, field emission display, etc.

Abstract: Two kinds of Ag-pastes were prepared for integrating the bulk Si solar cell. One is the Ag-paste mixed with Pb-based glass frit and the other is that mixed with Pb-free glass frit. The major components in the silver paste were 84 wt% Ag, 2 wt% glass frit, 11 wt% solvent of buthyl-cabitol acetate, and 2 wt% the other additives. After fabricating the Ag-pastes, they were coated on the SiNx/n+/p- stacks of a commercial mono-Si substrate. The solar cell efficiency was 17.6% in case of the silver paste mixed with Pb-based glass frit, which was one of the world-best records in the technology. By the way, the efficiency was 16.2% in the solar cell integrated with the silver paste mixed with Pb-free glass frit. The lower performance in the Pb-free Ag-paste was caused by the higher serial resistance and the lower shunt resistance in comparison with the Pb-containing Ag paste.

Abstract: Sr4Al14O25: Eu2+, Dy3+ luminescent ceramics with high brightness and long afterglow were prepared using glass frits as binders by sintering at lower temperature and air atmosphere. The effects of glass frits on the properties of luminescent ceramics were discussed. The analytical results indicate that the surface structure and adhesion with phosphor are influenced by glass frits and sintering temperature. When sintered at 850°C, the samples with frit1 or frit2 obtained good surface morphology and good adhesion. The sample with frit2 sintered at 850°C yielded the better surface morphology and good adhesion. The sample with frit1 sintering at 850°C possessed the better luminescent properties.

Abstract: We investigated the mechanism of chemical reaction between Bi2O3 glass and water solution during milling. As a result, the frit condition affected discoloration with crystallization. After milling, there was a deposited layer on the frit surface. The layer was composed of leached ions, contaminates of metal oxides, and hydroxides. Bismate glass frit is reacted to the milling solution so that the frit surface is formed with a gel layer. In milling, contaminates contained in milling solution is contributed to the formation of deposed layer on frit surface.

Abstract: The effect of RO components variation on some properties was studied in Pb free glass frit for PDP (Plasma Display Panel). One of the main components, BaO, was replaced progressively at fixed concentration of alkaline earth oxides. We studied the transparency, thermal expansion, softening point, and the high temperature microscopic behaviors of glass frits and TG(thermal gravimetry) of raw material. The compositional dependence of those properties was discussed from the view points of compositional diversity and production process of Pb free glass frit.
