Abstract: Dynamic anti-plane characteristic is investigated theoretically on two dissimilar piezoelectric media with an interfacial crack subjected to time-harmonic incident anti-plane shearing in this paper. The formulations are based on the method of complex variable and Green’s function. Dynamic stress intensity factors at the crack’s tip are obtained by solving boundary value problems with the methods of conjunction and crack-division technique. The calculating results are plotted to show how the frequencies of incident wave, all kinds physical parameters of two dissimilar piezoelectric materials, applied electric loads and the dimension of the interfacial crack influence upon the dynamic stress intensity factor (DSIF). And some of the calculating results are compared with other published documents.

Abstract: The dynamic response of a circular lining structure and multiple cracks in an elastic half space while bearing impact loading is studied in this paper. This problem can be seen as the problem of defending of blast. The methods of Green's function, complex function and multi-polar coordinates are used here. First, the scattering wave which satisfies the condition of stress free on the ground surface of half-space containing a shallow-embedded circular lining structure impacted by incident SH-wave is constructed based on the symmetry of SH-wave scattering and the method of multi-polar coordinates system. Then a crack or multiple cracks in any position and direction can be constructed by Green's function and means of crack-division in half space. Finally the displacement field and stress field are established in the case of coexistence of circular lining structure and cracks, and the expression of dynamic stress intensity factor (DSIF) at the tip of crack is given. The interaction of inclusion and two cracks is chosen as numerical examples finally. According to nu-merical examples, the influences of different parameters on DSIF are discussed.

Abstract: In mechanical engineering and modern municipal construction, shallow-buried cavity structure is used widely. In this paper, Green's Function is studied, which is the solution of displacement field for elastic semi-space with double shallow-buried cavities while bearing anti-plane harmonic line source force at any point. In the complex plane, considering the symmetry of SH-wave scattering , the displacement field aroused by the anti-plane harmonic line source force and the scattering displacement field impacted by the circle cavities comprised of Fourier-Bessel series with undetermined coefficients which satisfies the stress-free condition on the ground surface are constructed. Through applying the method of multi-polar coordinate system, the equations with unknown coefficients can be obtained by using the stress-free condition of the circle cavities in the radial direction. According to orthogonality condition for trigonometric function, these equations can be reduced to a series of algebraic equations. Then the value of the unknown coefficients can be obtained by solving these algebraic equations. Green's function, that is, the total wave displacement field is the superposition of the displacement field aroused by the anti-plane harmonic line source force and the scattering displacement field. By using the expressions, an example is provided to show the effect of the change of relative location of the circle cavities and the location of the line source force. Based on this solution, the problem of interaction of double circular cavities and a linear crack in semi-space can be investigated further.

Abstract: Circular lining is used widely in structure design. In this paper, the method of Green’s function is used to investigate the problem of far field solution of circular lining and linear crack impacted by incident SH-wave. Firstly, a Green’s function is constructed, which is a fundamental solution of displacement field for an elastic space possessing a circular lining while bearing out-of-plane harmonic line source force at any point; Secondly, in terms of the solution of SH-wave’s scattering by an elastic space with circular lining, anti-plane stresses which are the same in quantity but opposite in direction to those mentioned before, are loaded at the region where the linear crack is in existent actually; Finally, the expressions of displacement and stress are given when the circular lining and linear crack exist at the same time. Then, the far field of scattered wave is studied. The results can be applied in the study of fracture, and undamaged frame crack detection.

Abstract: Dynamic interaction is investigated theoretically between a circular cavity and a crack near the surface in a semi-infinite piezoelectric medium subjected to time-harmonic incident anti-plane shearing in this paper. The formulations are based on the method of complex variable and Green’s function. Dynamic stress concentration factors at the edge of the circular cavity and dynamic stress intensity factors at the crack tip are obtained by solving boundary value problems with the method of orthogonal function expansion. The calculating results are plotted to show how the frequencies and the orientation of incident wave, piezoelectric characteristic parameters of the material and the structural geometries influence upon the dynamic stress concentration factor (DSCF) and dynamic stress intensity factor (DSIF).

Abstract: Scattering of SH wave by an elastic half space with a lining structure and a crack in any position and direction is studied with Green’s function, complex function and multi-polar coordinate method. First, a suitable Green’s function is constructed, which is a fundamental solution to the displacement field for the elastic space possessing circular lining structure while bearing out-of-plane harmonic line source load at arbitrary point. Then a crack in any position and direction is constructed by means of crack-division in half space. Finally the displacement field and stress field are established in the case of coexistence of circular lining structure and crack, and the expression of dynamic stress intensity factor (DSIF) at the tip of crack is given. According to numerical examples, the influences of different parameters on DSIF are discussed.

Abstract: Based on Green’s function, complex function and multi-polar coordinate system, the far field solution of SH wave scattered by an elastic half space with a circular cavity and a crack at an arbitrary position and orientation is investigated. First, a suitable Green’s function is constructed, which is the fundamental solution of the displacement field for a half space with a circular cavity subjected to an out-plane time-harmonic line force at an arbitrary position in half space. Second, by means of crack-division technique, a crack with any location and orientation can be constructed in the region of the half space. The displacement field and stress field are established in the situation of coexistence of circular cavity and crack. At last expressions of far field, such as displacement mode of scattering wave are deduced. Some examples and numerical results are illustrated. The influences of the combination of different media parameters on solutions of far field are discussed.

Abstract: In mechanical engineering, circular hole is used widely in structure design. When the structure is overloaded or the load is changed regularly, cracks emerge and spread. Based on the former study of dynamic stress concentration problem of SH wave by a crack originating at a circular hole edge, in this paper, the method of Green’s function is used to investigate the problem of dynamic stress intensity problem of double linear cracks near a circular hole impacted by incident SH-wave. The train of thought for this problem is that: Firstly, a Green’s function is constructed for the problem, which is a fundamental solution of displacement field for an elastic space possessing a circular hole and a linear crack while bearing out-of-plane harmonic line source force at any point; Secondly, in terms of the solution of SH-wave’s scattering by an elastic space with a circular hole and a linear crack, anti-plane stresses which are the same in quantity but opposite in direction to those mentioned before, are loaded at the region where the second crack is in existent actually, we called this process “crack-division”; Finally, the expressions of the dynamic stress intensity factor(DSIF) of the cracks are given when the circular hole and double linear crack exist at the same time. Then, by using the expressions, an example was provided to show the effect of circular hole and cracks on the dynamic stress intensity factor of the cracks.

Abstract: For the high quality of wheel, the railway wheel has standardized such as UIC, KS, and JIS code but the chemical composition, the mechanical property and the hardness is merely requested. Although the standard of railway wheel has sustained, the damages of railway wheel have been occurred in service running. Because of wheel damage with spalling, shelling and thermal crack, the maintenance cost for the railway wheel has increased. In order to reduce wheel damage, it is necessary to reinforce the standard of railway wheel. In present study, the fracture mechanics characteristics of railway wheel such as threshold stress intensive factor, fracture toughness and impact energy depended on temperature have tested. The result shows that the standard of railway wheel has to supplement fracture toughness and impact energy depended on low temperature in order to reduce the wheel damage.
