Abstract: Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid state joining technique for both similar and dissimilar combination of materials. However, there is a scope in optimizing the process parameters involved in the FSW process. Taguchi based Grey Relational Analysis (GRA) has an impact in better optimization results when compared with other optimization techniques. In this present work totally 9 samples of single pass friction stir welded aluminium alloy were taken for the optimization process. The samples were subjected to various tool speeds and traverse speeds by keeping the axial force as constant. The experiments were planned using Taguchi’s orthogonal array selector in order reduce the multi responses involved in the FSW process. The final optimized values were correlated with the experimental values. It is revealed from results that the optimized process parameter showed a good agreement with the experimental values. The present work has also proved the feasibility of GRA in combination with Taguchi technique for better enhancement in the weldment and optimization of the process parameters.

Abstract: In this analysis turning parameter optimization is performed during machining AISI D2 steel with uncoated and coated cemented carbide cutting inserts using a hybrid multi-objective optimization technique Grey relational analysis (GRA) and Principal Component analysis (PCA). A L16 Taguchi’s orthogonal array design is selected for basic experimental design considering four levels for the chosen four parameters. Output performance measures viz., tool wear, roughness on finished surface and material removed are evaluated by determining grey relational coefficient, and deriving multi response performance index (MRPI) using principal components. Contribution of coated cutting insert is 72.87% towards the MRPI and 17.15% contribution by feed rate, as determined from Analysis of Variance (ANOVA). Confirmation experiment performed with optimum conditions provides lower tool wear, higher material removal and good surface finish. The MRPI of the confirmation experiment is also confirmed by calculating the confidence interval.

Abstract: In this paper, we firstly review the paper related to index system of economic society development, and divide and analyze the stage of Chinese economic development by using the theory of Chenery, Hoffman and Lewis. Then we selected indicators by using GRA and FA, and also consider the cointegration relationship of these indicators with power. Finally, we propose the index system of economic society development based on the medium and long-term electric power demand forecasting, which included 3 first-level indexes, 7 second-level indicators.

Abstract: At present, most of researches on network selection algorithms are focused on single access. To support seamless mobility and provide better quality of service in heterogeneous wireless networks, this paper proposes a network selection algorithm with parallel transmission based on MADM. In the algorithm, we firstly determine all available wireless networks and consider every subset of these networks as a network scheme. Then we obtain aggregation attributes of every scheme and determine the alternative network schemes. Finally, we build the decision matrix of multiple attributes and determine the optimal scheme by using GRA. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can obviously improve user quality of service, improve user throughput, reduce power consumption and price cost per bit.

Abstract: Assessment index system for safety capability of mine team leaders is established to assess their safety capability accurately, after defining its concept. The system is comprised of two layers, with 5 indexes in the first-layer and 14 indexes in the second-layer. Furthermore, the relative weights of indexes are determined by analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The grey relational assessment model for safety capability of mine team leader is constructed based on the indexes system. The safety capability of 4 mine team leaders are assessed by the model, according to the sequences in their safety capabilities. Assessment for safety capability based on AHP and GRA could be a tool for evaluation and decision-making in mining enterprises.

Abstract: This paper analyzes factors that affect the goodness of windows, establish a comprehensive evaluation attribute system, which includes five aspects: economical, energy-saving, environmental, healthy and comfort, safety. Puts forward a new weighting method by combining entropy weight and gray relational analysis, which considers both quantitative and qualitative analysis; and then, establishes a model of weighted TOPSIS to rank objectives being evaluated.Case study shown that this method is effective and reasonable in energy-saving window material comprehensive evaluation, provides support for multi-attribute decision making.

Abstract: Many sluices had low standard and poor quantity, which were damaged seriously after several decades use. In sluice safety levels classification standard, there are quantitative indexes and qualitative indexes, which isnt convenient to assess sluice risk consequence objectively. In order to improve the technology of sluice safety comprehensive evaluation and reduce the risk of sluice operating, grey relational analysis method was used to evaluate the sluice according to the specific conditions of the sick-dangerous sluices and some special managing principle. The result is objective and reasonable, so we assess sluice easily, providing a new way for sluices risk consequences comprehensive evaluation.
