Abstract: Usability is a key indicator in the evaluation of Human-Machine Interface (HMI). ECDIS has a typical HMI for e-Navigation system. In order to improve the usability of ECDIS HMI, it is necessary to carry out usability evaluation. This paper investigated the time spent in executing typical navigation operations using two common designs, which are based on single document and dialog box. The accuracy of the theoretical prediction was verified against actual test results, and the efficiency of the two design schemes was compared. The research results can provide scientific guidance to improve the usability of ECDIS and design of HMI.

Abstract: The application of traditional three-axis milling machine center is very popular and the related application technology is also much matured resulting in mechanical components to be machined with good quality. Machine tool has therefore become an inevitable facility in precision manufacturing. Furthermore, the pursuit of higher precision machining has thus demanding five-axis machine tool to be adopted owing to its flexibility and capability in machining more precise mechanical components in shorter time. However, one of the key factors for the popularity in smooth introduction of five-axis machine tool would be based on a very user friendly learning and teaching environment. This is partly because two more rotational axes in a five-axis machine tool could generate very complex toolpath movement that is out of the imagination of a general operator. Furthermore, the price of an industrial five-axis machine tool is not normally affordable by an educational institute; to the worse, the maintenance cost is also very high. There is very high risk for a novice to collide during the learning process and this will generally cause big worry of a teacher. This paper aims for the development of a virtual machining center simulation system with switchable modular components to ease the learning process in getting acquainted with a five-axis machine tool. A five-axis machine tool consists generally of two modules: (1) CNC controller and Operation panel, and (2) machine tool hardware. The developed system will provide the novice with four CNC controller with operation human machine interface (HMI), and three typical types of five-axis machine tool, Head-Head (HH), Head-Table (HT), and Table-Table (TT), are also supported. The developed modularized and switchable machining center simulation system has been successfully developed and is very helpful to both learner and teacher

Abstract: Considering the characteristics of UHVDC(Ultra High Voltage Direct Current) transmission in HMI (Human Machine Interface), this paper discusses the engineering design plan of HMI software for UHVDC transmission project in detail. Especially speaking, this paper focuses on how to carry out robotics solutions which include automatic interface generation, auto correlation between the interface and database data, and the function of system error correction, etc. Finally, an engineering solution based on data driven project is presented for the future domains of DC transmission HMI.

Abstract: The gluing control system designed for production plants to manufacture flap-disks was investigated using programmable logic controller (PLC) and servo. The system has been mainly developed to achieve efficient gluing for the back cover. It is implemented by a PLC, a human-machine interface (HMI), a positioning module and sensors, as well as servo amplifiers and motors. Issues was discussed in this paper, such as connection of the hardware, working mechanism design, capacity selection of servo motors, high-speed and uniform gluing, means of pre-opening and delayed-shutoff for the needle valve and etc. Hardware and software was developed for the system and high-precision gluing was achieved. The device has been provided for industrial applications, which has greatly improved the production quality and efficiency.

Abstract: Automatic production line includes machinery, electric, control, communication and other multi-disciplinary technologies and knowledge. It is an ideal training platform for students majored in mechatronics and electric automation. In the designing of platform, however, the difficulty lies in the precise delivery and position control of linear guide rail system. To address this problem, this paper aims at designing an AC servo-control system based on PLC, AC servo driver, servo motor and human-machine interface (HMI) and elaborates the principle of servo-control system, circuit design and software design. The system will achieve reliable delivery and precise positioning with position error less than 1 mm, which, with great application value, will meet the actual demand from industrial production.

Abstract: A baffle positioning system has been designed to align collecting optical fibers and measure the spatial point corresponding to each fiber. In order to control field devices in both remote and local mode, two HMIs were designed with configuration software. One is for an Industrial PC in our laboratory and the other one for a portable industrial tablet deployed in EAST hall. The critical baffle mechanical actuator as well as its manual operation component was specially designed with a careful consideration of structural features of EAST device. Based on an Omron PLC, this system also provides a convenient control over several pneumatic valves and laser-spot watching lights, which are closely related to the preparation work before positioning. The trial running result shows this baffle positioning system can work stably and safely, reduce positioning time largely and bring much convenience to operator. It also has a great capability of integrating with more devices in the future.

Abstract: With Programmable Logical Controller (PLC) as the control core, this paper designed automation and control system of industrial. Protection and control of crusher stall is the main contents of this article. According to the control requirements of the industrial production process, stall control system of crusher was designed. This system included the liquid level monitoring of lubricating System, crushers start, crushers speed monitoring, crushers speed transformation and protection design of crushers stall. Then we simulated the functions which the system can achieve, and got the monitoring chart in the human-machine interface.

Abstract: In order to provide more convenient options for users and developers, the design of Human Machine Interface (HMI) based on ARM and embedded Linux is put forward. It makes full use of multiple peripherals of ARM and flexibility of Linux OS. Firstly, hardware design of the HMI system is presented. Then methods of embedded Linux transplanting and the device drivers programming are discussed. Finally, running results and applications of the designed HMI are considered. The design combines the features of traditional HMI and Micro Control Unit (MCU) HMI, including low cost, rich interfaces and easy programming.
