Abstract: Based on the experiment of two-way plane grinding-hardening machine, this paper studied the influence of workpieces height size and grinding parameter on the microstructure, micro-hardness and hardening depth of grinding-hardened layer. The results show that under this experimental condition, workpieces height size has no substantial influence on grinding-hardening, but while the height size increased, the micro-hardness and hardening depths average value of completely hardened zone presents trend of "saddle type". The workpieces quality of grinding-hardening can be improved by adopting reasonable workpieces height size.

Abstract: In this paper, some experiments was implemented for analyzing the affecting factors on allowable contact stress of four-point-contact slewing rings with single row including the hardening depth, hardness and the osculation between the steel ball and the raceway. Firstly, the common material 42CrMo was chosen and heat-treated with some process of heat treatment for getting different hardening depth. And then, the indentation tests were conducted with the test-rig, followed by the data process. Finally, some conclusions can be obtained by comparing and analyzing the data. It concludes that when the hardening depth beyond 0.3 and the hardness is not lower than 57HRC, a better allowable contact stress can be got, besides, the better osculation 0.52 is better for the load capacity.

Abstract: In port crane industry, the surface hardening technique is widely used in order to improve the strength of wheel. But the hardening depth is chosen only by according to the experience, and the effect of different hardened depths is not studied theoretically. In this paper, the contact stresses in wheel with different hardening depth have been analyzed by applying three-dimensional finite element model. Based on this model, the ANSYS10.0 finite element software is used. The elastic wheel is used to verify the numerical results with the Hertz’s theory. Three different hardening depths, namely 10mm, 25mm and whole hardened wheel, under three different vertical loads were applied. The effect of hardening depth of a surface hardened wheel is discussed by comparing the contact stresses and contact areas from the numerical results.

Abstract: The Cam nose part of the Automobile's Cam shaft is strongly bumped with rocker arm or valve-lift. Therefore abnormal wear such as unfair-wear and early-wear occur in the surface. This abnormal wear causes a defect that bad timing open and close actions of the engine valve happen in the combustion chamber so the fuel gas will be combustion imperfect. Therefore, the Cam shaft has to be high hardness and wear resistance. In this study, high frequency heat treatment method was accomplished for wear test for material SM53C.
