Papers by Keyword: Incremental Conductance Method

Paper TitlePage

Abstract: By studying the characteristics of photovoltaic array, this paper proposes an improved MPPT control strategy. This strategy uses the neural network to control the operating voltage of the PV array, so that the voltage does not fall into local maximum, then the incremental conductance method is used to adjust precisely to obtain the optimal tracking results. With simulation of Matlab/Simulink, this improved strategy is verified that it can track the correct maximum power point under partial shading.

Abstract: In order to improve the efficiency of photovoltaic generation as well as the power quality, grid-connected inverters for PV generation research was carried out for photovoltaic maximum power point tracking. Based on some current studies on the incremental conductance method, an advanced incremental conductance control algorithm was proposed, which can track maximum power point rapidly and accurately. The oscillation phenomenon, which exists near the maximum power point, was improved at a great extent, so to the efficiency of photovoltaic cells generation electricity. The inverter control system has an advantage in its high speed and flexibility by applying advanced control algorithm. And the source harmonic current is remarkably reduced. In addition, the power factor is enhanced and the power quality is improved. Finally, according to the principle of inverter control system and based on the analysis on the mathematical model of photovoltaic inverter, a simulation model of that is established based on MATLAB/SIMULINK.

Abstract: The simulation model of PV module, which is based on Simulink software, the mathematical model and the equivalent circuit of PV module, is established in this paper. This PV module model can be used to show the output characteristics of PV module under different irradiations and temperatures. Moreover, this model can be extended to various parameters of PV modules and used to study parallel and serial characteristics of PV module. The output characteristics of PV module, which is affected greatly by light irradiation and ambient temperature, has obvious non-linear features. Therefore, a maximum power point tracker (MPPT) is needed. Compared with perturbation and observation (P&Q) control method and other MPPT control methods, incremental conductance (IncCond) method may be unease to be adopted because it needs a high-performance controller which is costliness. However, as IncCond method is suitable for the irradiation situation of both rapid and slow changes, it has important research meanings. Meanwhile, aiming at the disadvantage of a fixed tracking step size, a improved control method is put forward and simulated in this paper. Finally the simuliation results verify the accuracy and superiority of the improved IncCond method.
