Abstract: Urban signalized intersections travel delay is an important part of the total traffic delays. To improve the traffic capacity of intersection is of great significance to solve the urban traffic problems. Combining with Hohhot Shi Yang Street Bridge Road and Five Tower Temple East Street intersection, this article had a detailed analysis of the intersection delay. We used the HCM2000 delay calculation model and microscopic traffic simulation software VISSIM to analyze the intersection delay. This is very useful for traffic management and controlling.

Abstract: This paper discusses the implementation of a new travel time estimation method in a regional demand forecasting model. The developed model considers implicitly the influence of signal timing as a function of main street and cross street traffic demands, although signal timing setting is not required as input. The application presented in this paper demonstrates that the developed model is applicable to a large network without the burden of signal timing input requirement. The results indicate that the application of the model can improve the performance of traffic assignment as part of the demand forecasting process. The model is promising to support dynamic traffic assignment (DTA) model applications in the future.

Abstract: The complexity of a real road network structure of a city and the variability of its real traffic information make a city’s intelligent transportation system (ITS) hard to meet the needs of the city’s vehicle navigation. This paper has proposed a simplified real-time road network model which can take into account the influence of intersection delay on the guidance for vehicles but avoid the calculation of intersection delay and troublesome collection of a city’s traffic data. Based on the new model, a navigation system has been presented, which can plan a dynamic optimal path for a vehicle according to the real-time traffic data received periodically from the city’s traffic center. A simulated experiment has been given. Compared with previous real-time road network models, the new model is much simpler and more effective on the calculation of vehicle navigation.

Abstract: How to model a dynamic road network has great practical significance in a vehicle navigation system. This paper has proposed a simplified time-division based on road network model which implicitly takes into account the delay time at various intersections, the degree of a road congestion and the different road quality, but avoids a complicated calculation and collection for these traffic data. An improved Dijkstra algorithm based on the new model has also been given. The simulation results show that the model can work well and the algorithm is efficient.

Abstract: This paper presents a new method to calculate control delay at signalized intersection or other types using speed-time data. For the control delay which composed of deceleration delay, stopped delay, and acceleration delay, it is important to determine the critical points of each delay. This paper uses speed as well as acceleration to determine the critical points and get an accurate result. Different with other researches, it uses the area that composed of real time speed curve and desired speed curve, divided by the downstream speed, to get the control delay precisely. This method needs less data than other methods and can be applied to any traffic condition including variant desired speed or volume. This paper also provides a rapid method, which doesn’t need to determine the critical points, to estimate control delay, and the precision is acceptable.
