Abstract: Novel chiral temperature-sensitive microgels based on N-isopropylacrylamide are reported in this paper. Such particles, poly (N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid-L-phenylalanine ethyl ester)[ poly (NIPAM-co-ALPhe)], were prepared by free radical polymerization of NIPAM, chiral monomer ALPhe and crosslinker N,N,-methylene-bis (acrylamide). The microgels exhibit spherical shape and favorable monodispersity. Increasing the content of ALPhe units incorporated into the microgel network will increase the average diameter, but decrease the swelling ratios and the transition temperature of particles.

Abstract: In this paper, granular activated carbon GAC was used to investigate the adsorption capacity and adsorption rate of a typical nitrogen-containing organic compounds L-phenylalanine. GAC shows a high adsorption capacity for the L-phenylalanine and the adsorption isotherms conform to with Langmuir model. The pseudo-first-order equation shows the best fitting for adsorption kinetics in L-phenylalanine adsorption by GAC. Besides the factors such as the temperature, adsorption time and activated carbon quantity were studied.

Abstract: The preparation conditions in the water system of phenylalanine chelated calcium complex have been evaluated though single-factor tests and optimized by uniform design. Then the optimal parameters were obtained as follows: reaction temperature is 40 °C, reaction time is 182 min, the molar ratio of phenylalanine to calcium is 4.3 and pH = 9.0. Under the best conditions, the experimental result gives chelating rate = 87.40% that is 17.12% lower than the prediction = 104.52%.The infrared spectrum characterization has confirmed the formation of phenylalanine-Ca2+ chelates and the existence of chelate ring.

Abstract: L-phenylalanine fermentation (L-Phe) is produced by the preparation method of PPA-transamination using the ferment liquor, which is the production of the E.coli No.1 fermented in heat pipe bioreactor (HPBR), the technical indexes are superior. The temperature profile of ferment liquor in the period of microbe growth is well distributed, the mean difference in temperature is 0.08°C, while the maximum value is 0.4°C.Base on operational principle of heat pipe, HPBR solves many problems on heat transfer in traditional bioreactor: nonuniformity of temperature profile, inefficiency of heat transfer etc. The study in-depth on transfer process in HPBR will effectively accelerate exploitation for new-style bioreactor and advancement of biotechnology.

Abstract: Oligo-peptides have been focused on by chemists recently because of the strong bioactivity an activity as drug or precursor of drug. α-Amino acid could self-assemble into oligo-peptides with the assistance of inorganic phosphorus reagents, so it could provide a new method to synthesize peptides. In this paper, the self-assembly reaction of L-Phenylalanine mediated by phosphorus oxychloride were studied by using ESI-MS. The proper condition of self-assembly reaction of L-Phe was reported. The reaction products were purified by RP-HPLC and Phe-Phe dipeptide was characterized by the means of IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and ESI-MS/MS.
