Abstract: This study focuses on the modelling of Flow-Drill Screw (FDS) connections in large-scale shell analyses. Macroscopic connection models for large-scale crash simulations were assessed for modelling of FDS connections between two aluminium plates. Of the investigated models were two commercial element-based and three commercial constraint-based models, as well as two new user-defined element-based models. All models were calibrated using cross tests in tension, shear and a mixed shear/tension mode. In order to assess the flexibility of the models two sets of experimental data were used. In the first one, a small screw was used to join two sheets of the same rolled alloy while the second set used a longer screw with a larger head to join a rolled alloy to an extrusion. The calibrated models were validated using a two-step approach involving benchmark and component tests. Of the commercial models, the constraint-based performed better than the element-based. The new user-defined models gave similar results as the commercial constraint-based models. From the obtained results, recommendations for modelling of FDS connections for large-scale analyses were formulated.

Abstract: Single-crystal hematite (α-Fe2O3) nanoeggs are firstly synthesized using an anion-assisted hydrothermal method. By adjusting the ratios of phosphate to ferric ions, we are able to produce an egg-like nanostructure. And then α-Fe2O3 nanoeggs are converted to magnetite (Fe3O4) by a chemical reduction while preserving the same morphology. The characterizations of Fe3O4 nanoeggs indicate Fe3O4 nanoeggs with uniform size and shape are successful synthesized. Our results provide an easily scaled-up method for preparing tailor-made large-sized iron oxide nanoeggs that could meet the demands of a variety of applications.

Abstract: A sewage detection system based on large-scale embedded microcontroller was designed. With the increasing national environmental control requirements, the existing detection methods have been unable to meet the emissions compliance requirements. It is necessary to adopt new detection technologies for faster, more stable and reliable sewage discharge test results. This paper uses an embedded microcontroller technology for chemical plant wastewater discharge testing, which can effectively control the quality of effluent discharge, meet environmental requirements, and achieve stable production, energy saving purposes. Practice has proved that, sewage detection system based on large-scale embedded microcontroller has a strong monitoring capabilities.

Abstract: Oil storage tank plays an important role in modern oil industry. The development of large-scale oil storage tanks has resulted in the complexity of stress distribution and deformation situation of tank wall and tank bottom. Especially in soft foundations, the tank structure is susceptible to various types of settlement deflections. The most common type is planar inclined foundation. In this paper, the finite element model of large-scale oil storage tank was built according to the pattern of design and the deformation characteristic and stress distribution of large storage tank under the planar inclined foundation was obtained. Considering the floating roof, the ultimate value of large storage tank under the planar inclined foundation is determined.

Abstract: To address the problems of low efficiency, high cost and low automatic level existing in traditional laser tracking measurement systems, a laser tracking-vision guiding measurement system for large-scale parts assembly is introduced in this paper. The system is composed of mono-camera and a laser tracker, can fulfill real-time tracking and automatic measurement throughout the whole assembly process. A global calibration method based on public planes and a method for finding the 3D positions of the target reflectors based on monocular vision measuring are expounded. Mathematical model is established, measurement system is built, and the experiment is accomplished. The experiment result indicates that the proposed system features relative high degree of automation and high measuring speed, has future in practical application.
