Abstract: Linear rolling guides are widely used in the NC machine tool, and usually the NC machine tool's characteristics shall been influenced by the characteristics of the guide greatly. The HSR series of liner rolling guides are taken as the research object of the paper. The methods of constructing the dynamic finite element analysis models are studied. The contact element is applied to simulate the characteristics of junction surfaces during the static characteristic analysis. The spring damping element is applied during the dynamic characteristic analysis. The static stiffness, natural frequencies, modal shapes and other characteristics are obtained by finite element analysis. Then the experiments of linear rolling guide are carried out and verified the model that had been built and calculation results of finite element analysis.

Abstract: This study was aimed to investigate the dynamic characteristics of a multi-axis feeding stage of a milling machine. In order to clarify the influence of the guide system on the structure performance, we have proposed finite element approach to modeling the X-Y working tables with sliding and rolling guide, respectively. The results show that the machine models with sliding and rolling guides show similar vibration behavior. But the sliding guides give more constraints to the motion of working table, showing higher vibration frequency when compared to the rolling guides. This obviously indicates that the guide system significantly influences the resonant frequency and the response amplitudes of a feeding stage.

Abstract: Bolt joint has an important influence on the dynamic characteristic of guide rail. Linear rolling guide is chosen as the research object in this paper. Firstly, the dynamic model of the linear rolling guide joint surface is established and its natural frequency is figured out. Then we use ANSYS to make finite element analysis of guide on whether the bolt joint is considered or not. Finally, the validity of finite element model is verified through modal test. By comparing the results of the two kinds of finite element analysis with the theoretical result, we can conclude that the finite element model considering the bolts joint is closer to the theoretical result. So the bolt joint has a great influence on the dynamic characteristics of linear rolling guide. This paper provides the theoretical guide for the research on the bolt joint.

Abstract: The dynamic characteristics of linear rolling guide joint have great influence on the dynamic characteristics of machine tools. In this paper, the relative deformation of guide interface was analyzed based on Hertz theory and normal contact stiffness of guide joint was calculated first. Then, the vibration model of linear rolling guide joint was performed. The kinetic energy and potential energy of carriage-rail system was derived. Based on Lagrange’s approach, motion equilibrium equations of different vibration modes were derived. At last, vibration test was designed to get natural frequencies and mode shapes of the carriage. The natural frequencies agreed well with the values calculated by analytical approach. The research results provided a theoretical foundation for obtaining vibration characteristics parameters of linear rolling guide joint and a reliable way for analysis of the dynamic characteristics of similar machine joints

Abstract: Linear rolling guide has gained wide application in various CNC machines. As a main joint of the machine tools, it makes great impact on the dynamic characteristics of machine tools. It is therefore necessary to study the dynamic behavior of linear rolling guide. And external load is a factor that affects the dynamic characteristics of linear rolling guide. In this paper experimental approach was used with the aim of studying effects of external load on dynamic behavior of linear rolling guide. The experiment contained some modal tests of linear rolling guide ways when they were loaded forces of different sizes.

Abstract: In order to analyze accurately the dynamic characteristics of Linear Rolling Guide during the design stage, the Linear Rolling Guide that springs and damping units imitate joints is simulated by finite element methods in this paper. The proposed method can predict the regular pattern which joint stiffness and joint span affect natural frequency and harmonic response. The research demonstrates that the method predicts well the dynamic characteristics of the Linear Rolling Guide; therefore, it can be a reference for dynamic optimization design of Linear Rolling Guide in turn-milling center.
