Abstract: It is predicted that in 2D magnonic crystals the edge rotational magnons of forward vol-ume magnetostatic spin waves can exist. Under certain conditions locally bounded magnons may ap-pear within the crystal consisting of the ferromagnetic matrix and periodically inserted magnetic/non-magnetic inclusions. It is also shown that interplay of different resonances in 2D magnonic crystalmay provide conditions for spin wave modes existence with negative group velocity.

Abstract: The problem of finding the Green's function of spin and electromagnetic waves in the sinusoidal superlattice is considered. An analytical expression for the spectral representation of the Green's function has been found in the form of ascending continued fractions, the particular denominators of which are ordinary continued fractions. The Green’s function in the-space has been found by the numerical Fourier transformation of the Greens’s function found in the spectral representation.

Abstract: The spin-wave spectrum in one-dimensional magnon crystals periodic superlattices (SLs) is investigated for the rectangular and sinusoidal modulation profile of the material parameters. The dependences of band gaps in the spectrum on both the difference of the magnetic parameters in adjacent layers and the ratio of the layer thicknesses are calculated.

Abstract: A new type of photonic crystals entitled “magnonic crystals (MC)” that exhibit forbidden gaps in the microwave spectrum of magnetostatic spin waves (MSW) are reported. The topography of the MCs that consist of two-dimensional (2-D) etched holes periodic structure in yttrium iron garnet films was studied by atomic force and magnetic force magnetometry. The propagation characteristics of spin waves in such 2-D MCs was measured and analyzed.
