Abstract: Combining copper alloy with steel back to make bearing bush can not only improve the strength of bearing bush, but also prolong the life of bearing bush, which is called bimetallic bearing. In this paper, the development status of copper alloy materials in bimetallic bearing bushes and the manufacturing principle and characteristics of copper alloy-steel bimetallic bearing bushes are summarized, and the defects of several manufacturing processes are analyzed. This paper summarizes the research on improving the performance of copper-steel bimetallic bearing bush. Finally, the development direction of the preparation process of copper alloy-steel bimetal is prospected.

Abstract: Vietnam is the world's leading country in growing and producing pepper trees. In this study, we attempted the optimization of white pepper essential oil extraction. The obtained oil was then subject to determination of constituent composition via GC-MS method. The essential oil performance achieved 3.6% by hydro-distillation process with optimal conditions (25 grams of fresh pepper, size 18, 120 minutes extraction, 130°C). A total of 23 volatile constituents were identified from the white pepper essential oil, with the major components being 27.4% of Limonene, 3-Carene 22,928%, Sabinene 17,622%, β-pinene 10.068%, α-Pinene 5.426%.

Abstract: The process planning of a product represents in the manufacturing industry a major element that determines the level of economic performance of the company. The development and evaluation of process planning during the industrialization phase of a product can cause problems of quality, cost or manufacturing time. Therefore, process planning needs to be evaluated early, during the design phase. The aim of this article is to propose to a manufacturing company a hybrid approach of multicriterion decision support, allowing evaluating the concepts proposed by the designer to choose the best concept having the best industrial performance indicators, and to take into account the opinions of experts from different departments of the company. The multicriterion choice is made by the hybridization of the ROC method and the PROMETHEE method, and the decision criteria are indicators that express the performance of a process planning. Then, to illustrate the capacity of the model, a case study of a product is presented.

Abstract: PowerAmerica sponsored the development by NCSU of a process for manufacturing power MOSFETs and JBS Rectifiers in 2015. This process, named PRESiCETM, was successful in making 1.2 kV rated state-of-the-art 4H-SiC power devices (MOSFETs, BiDFETs, and JBS Rectifiers) in the X-Fab foundry. In addition, we were successful in monolithically integrating a JBS fly-back rectifier into the power MOSFET structure to create the power JBSFET which allows saving significant (~ 40 %) chip area and reducing package count in half. In the second year (2016), NCSU has qualified the process for manufacturing these power devices at X-Fab.

Abstract: Uncertainty in manufacturing processes is as old as the manufacturing process itself. Simulationson the other hand are always certain in their outcome based on the chosen parameters. Nonethelessit makes sense to incorporate uncertainties in the simulation for validation and analysis of the realand simulated processes. This paper aims on highlighting the importance of an accurate understandingand measurement of uncertainty for simulation validation and thus to increase the significance andacceptance of simulation results in the working environment.

Abstract: Jatropha curcas oil has become an important raw material in manufacturing biodiesel fuel because of its non-edible and rich-oil characteristics. After oil pressing, the recycled press cake of Jatropha curcas seed residue exhibited ample protein, and could be applied in bio-medical, bio-resources, or food industrial products. Protein concentration process using membrane module system combined with the control design has a significant advantage on energy saving compared to the heat drying of protein solution. However, fouling, large membrane area and frequent membrane cleaning will increase the energy consumption and operation cost for the protein concentration process with filter membrane. In this study, the membrane filtration for protein concentration will be conducted. The discussion of control factors, membrane pore size (X1), pH value (X2) and transmembrane pressure (X3), for protein concentration process with response surface methodology (RSM) were discussed. The results showed that R2R2 value for each model was close to one. Future investigation on the mechatronics integration of the membrane separation and purification system will be needed for commercial applications.

Abstract: Deep hole drilling is a process for the production of cylindrical bore holes with a large length to diameter ratio. The variation of parameters is limited to those ones of the conventional drilling process such as rotation and feed motion. A special deep hole drilling process, named “chamber-boring”, was developed for the production of contoured bore holes in axial direction [1]. For specific applications not only a contouring in axial direction is required but also a radial contouring is necessary. In the course of a ZIM – project (Central Innovation Programme for SMEs), supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and in close collaboration with the BGTB GmbH and the Institute of Machining Technology (ISF), a new “chamber boring system” which allows contouring of boreholes in axial and radial directions was developed. Based on this machining system, the manufacturing of pipes with a wavelike cross section in radial direction is possible.

Abstract: The electrification of drives is an enormous challenge as well as an opportunity for the automobile industry and its suppliers to provide competitive and affordable technologies to participate within this change. The high costs of battery systems, the range limitations of electric vehicles and the insufficient charging network are three of the main reasons, this change is still troublesome in its realization. To realize a cost-efficient production of battery systems, a high degree of automation and an increased production throughput is necessary. This paper focuses on the pouch cell with its high energy density and presents a solution, of how to significantly increase the production throughput in the z-folding of separators. The approach pursued is the assessment of shifting from discrete pick-and-place operations to a continuous process flow, enabling a cost-efficient production of electrode-separator compounds and ultimately lithium-ion batteries.

Abstract: The field of power electronics packaging presents intricate and interdisciplinary challenges. System costs, reliability and performance are strongly determined by various aspects such as mechanical design, materials, thermal management and interconnect technologies. The overall costs of the product depend mainly on the complete process chain in the module development. Automation as well plays an important role and facilitates higher production rates, efficient use of materials, better product quality, and reduced factory lead times. This paper focuses on emerging interconnection technologies of bonding semiconductor components to power electronic substrates like diffusion soldering, conductive adhesive bonding and reactive multi-layer bonding. An overview on the automation potentials and complexities in individual technologies for the manufacturing of reliable and cost-effective power modules is given and discussed. Thus, a basis is created for choosing optimal die-attach technology depending on economic and technologic demand by comparing the state-of-the-art and advanced technologies.
