Abstract: The development of a low cost 3D printer is presented for high performance polymers by example of a PEI type material. The development steps and technical alternatives opted for during the design process are outlined in two cycles targeting first printing of non-demanding thermoplastics, such as ABS, PLA etc., followed by an upgrade to printing PEI and similar high performance polymers. Subsystems discussed pertain to the frame, CNC axes including feed motors and motion control, the extruder, hot end and nozzle. Of particular interest are modifications concerning the temperature setting and regulation subsystems of the printer work volume and the printing table. Calibration procedures with pitfalls and solutions is discussed and a documented series of finally successful tests for Ultem1010TM is presented.

Abstract: A method based on structural modelling is developed for failure evaluation and analysis of mechatronics-based production systems. Majority of the elements in production systems are mechatronics-based, which includes various elements such as; electrical, electronic and mechanical. Each of these may have different failure types that may be interdependence/interactive. The reliability of the system mainly depends on how well the failures are taken care of during design stage. In general, individual failures are generalized into probable failure modes and early identification of these helps to reduce their probability. However, consideration of failures and their interdependence / interactions will help to evaluate and analyse the failures of complicated systems in an efficient and effective manner and increase the inherent system reliability. The system structure modeling helps in this regard. Digraph model, in conjunction with matrix method, is employed for failure evaluation and analysis of a mechatronics-based production system based on its structure.

Abstract: The scientific paper shows for the first time in Romania, the new concepts of the author in mechatronics development and micro and nano mechatronics as strategic research and development opportunities for the XXIst century, the integration between the physical and the virtual world and thus, forming of the Cybernetic Space, by fusion and fusing. In fact, computer systems and informatic systems are connected, by using the ubiquitous networking technologies (IT), together with the rapid progress of miniaturization, speed, power, and mobility of mechatronic and micronanomechatronic systems in a technical and technological space named "cyber space", which offers increased efficiency, higher productivity, superior safety and with functions that could not previously be performed. Thus, herein are presented applications of cyber-mechatronic and cyber-micro and nano mechatronic systems in industry and society in smart car fabrications, intelligent medical systems and so on, by tackling scientific and technical challenges, challenges of complex integration, interaction between people and systems and by dealing with uncertainty.

Abstract: New Hybrid (HB) type Active Magnetic Bearing (AMB) is proposed in this paper. It is intended to apply to high speed turbo machinery. This magnetic bearing is easily controlled by a standard linear power amplifier. The proposed magnetic bearing is analyzed and designed through Finite Element Method (FEM). The designed characteristics are compared with the standard electro-magnet type magnetic bearing. The results show good characteristics of high efficiency, good dynamic property and easy manufacturing. The proposed magnetic bearing is fabricated and the simple tests are carried out.

Abstract: In the conditions of the accentuated globalization and marked by a strong economical concurrence, the development of the present society imposes a new type of education. This must take into account all dimensions of the human being because our whole individual and social life is structured by education. The confirmation of the creative valences of Mechatronics in all fields makes possible the appearance of a new philosophy compatible with the actual technological and informatical development in society. At the base of the Mechatronics’ principles in Education is situated the development of the systemic thinking and the formation of the work abilities in team based on the informatics role in all fields. In mechatronic Education is followed by the formation of the information, mental action and social skills.

Abstract: The paper presents methods used to determine the parameters necessary to build a mathematical model of an underwater inspection robot with a crawler drive. The parameters present in the dynamics equation will be determined by means of advanced mechatronic design tools, including: CAD/CAE software and MES modules. The robot dynamics are described by means of type II Lagrange equations for a non-holonomic system. The details of the kinetic and dynamic equation derivation are highly complex and exceed the scope of this paper. In this paper, the authors concentrate on the methods of determining such dynamic equation parameters as: hydrodynamic resistance factor, precise robot volume and weight, frontal cross-sectional surface and mass moments of inertia.

Abstract: Paper deals with in-pipe machine which locomotes inside pipe for inspection purpose otherwise cable drawing into pipes. It uses bristled locomotion based on friction difference principle. The friction between bristle tip and inner pipe wall has anisotropic character. Knowledge of this anisotropic friction is a key to developing and optimizing of in-pipe machine based on this principle.

Abstract: This paper describes the system of telecontrol with two manipulators, that allows to grasp synchronously the object, position and orientation of which is determined by the vision system. The proposed algorithm of the computing system forms the control signals for all drives of manipulators. The simulation results confirm the efficiency of this algorithm and the overall system.

Abstract: The paper presents an original pneumo-hydraulic system that controls the speed and the position of the actuated load by using a hydraulic circuit containing a hydraulic proportional throttle. A mathematical model of the solution is developed and numerical simulations are performed. The experimental results obtained on the built model confirm the theoretical ones.
