Abstract: The article describes the orthogonal turn-milling technology applied for powder high speed steels. The cutter with carbide inserts was used in the experiments. The orthogonal turn-milling model was developed to improve the surface quality by choosing optimal cutting modes based on the simulation results. The mathematical model makes it possible to predict geometric surface deviations. The impact of cutting speed, tool feed and radial depth of cut on the geometric surface parameters was identified. The results make it possible to achieve the satisfactory level of surface quality without deteriorating the machining productivity. The avenues for further research are outlined.

Abstract: To study how to do, if adapting a Adjustable-Speed AC Drive System to control the equipment, now which is been controlled by the Adjustable-Speed DC Drive. According the operating parameters that requested by the production line of the Cold Rolling Mill of Pangang, the paper proves a revamping project. The project includes the selection of motor, the calculation of the electrical capacity of motor, and the selection of speed-control mode. Also the paper analyses and put forward to the revamping project of related supporting facilities.

Abstract: In this paper,in view of the fork head often broken of the main drive system of a medium thickness plate mill, finite element analysis software ANSYS is used to establish universal coupling model and analyse static strength of the universal coupling, woning maximum stress value of the fork head and cross shaft at maximum load and analysing fracture reason of the fork, which could provide a theoretical basis for the cross shaft universal coupling strength analysis and structural optimization design.

Abstract: The drilling of composite materials can produce, around the hole, defects and damages which decrease the mechanical resistance of the drilled workpiece. This study shows the influence of several tools (drill, mill and reamer) on the hole quality obtained, in the context of reference parts where surface integrity is a priority. An experimental study is suggested and the criteria used to assess the hole quality are defined. Results show the behavior of each type of cutting tool and their influence on the defects generated. Finally, this study helps creating a scale of recommended cutting conditions to reduce the tool wear and improve the hole quality.

Abstract: mportance of the SAG (Semi Autogenous Grinding) mills for the mineral complexes persuades many researchers to study the behavior of these huge equipments. Laboratory mills and the DEM (Discrete element method) software are the prevalent and reliable methods of modeling the mill behaviors. The former is very costly and the latter not only takes the much time but also needs the very advanced computers. In the present work, a method is presented to predict the charge profile and shoulder and toe positions for a case study mill. Experimental relations are manipulated to determine the en masse geometry and the kinetic relations are used to explain the ball movement on the liner in order to determine the shoulder and toe positions. Model results have very good accordance with the experimental results obtained of a laboratory mill. The model is used to predict the load behavior of a SAG mill in the Sarcheshmeh copper complex in Iran. Acceptable results due to low cost and quickness make it as an appropriate method for predicting the charge profile in that tumbling mill.

Abstract: The grinding process has been one of the most important part for mineral processing, combined with the basic principle of selective grinding and grinding medium application,a low grade phosphorite in Yunnan province which was grinded by the precise size and ratio of iron segments, and with the same specifications compared with low chrome steel balls under the same condition. The obtained results shown that iron segments could get a fine grinding with level(+0.10mm) 1.89 percentage points lower, pulverization level(-0.01mm) 0.07 percentage points lower, intermediate easy level(0.074~0.038mm) 9.29 percentage points higher, which further explains the iron segments has a better selective grinding effect, and could be used as a kind of ore fine grinding medium.

Abstract: Tool deflection is one of the important influencing factors for surface roughness and surface integrity of work piece in cutting process. The excessive deflection even causes seriously defects of work piece or failures of tool. This paper gives theory analysis and mathematic method to predict the tool deflection by means of the cantilever beam deflection theory. Based on modeling of 3-dimmsion milling force model, the finite element analysis has been performed for calculation of tool deflection. The experiment of tool deflection of solid end mill is performed to compare simulation and theory. Results show the correction and reliability of research method. It lays a foundation for fast calculation of tool deflection and optimization of milling parameters.
