Abstract: This paper discusses theory and application of microwave radiation and experimental optimization of microwave radiation to eliminate moisture content in wood elements. Owing to its properties, microwave radiation has been used in the construction industryin modern times, in particular to dry wet masonry of buildings. Effects of electromagnetic radiation on building structures lead to relatively sharp decreases in moisture content from damp building structures or elements. The influence of electromagnetic radiation on building structures lead to oscillation of water molecules contained in the material, which cause a phase transformation of water into vapour. Consequently, the vapour evaporates from the moist material, thereby drying the element exposed to radiation. The article describes experiments carried out at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Faculty of Technology in Brno that demonstrate successful decrease of water content in building materials using microwave radiation. First, the understanding of microwave radiationwill be discussed.Following an analysis of research results an optimum intensity of microwave radiation sources as well as the necessary length of the irradiation of microwave radiation have been determined with respect to the particular type of building material and the success rate of elimination of moisture.

Abstract: Galvanic retroreflector moulds suffer from fabrication errors and considerable wear due to the manufacturing process and the subsequent use for injection moulding. To remove degradations like flaws and wear marks from the mould’s optical surfaces without tedious manual labour, a partially automated process chain using a 6-axis robot is being developed combining surface metrology and machining technology. The areal limitation of the structured surfaces excludes conventional rotatory polishing processes. Vibration polishing is applied instead to remove critical surface errors and to enhance surface roughness to a near optical value of Sa ≤ 50 nm. The work presented in this paper gives insights into experiments performed on a robot polishing system and illustrates and the suitability for an application in the aforementioned partially automated process chain.

Abstract: The article deals with the mould cooling system design. The goal of design presented in the article was to propose the mould form so to be achieved the shortest time for both mould filling and product cooling. Studied product is intended to serve as a stopper in the automotive spotlight. After filling of mould cavity, the melt has to cool at 100 ° C, only then it is possible to accede to the next phase, which is final pressure. So the cooling and filling time is directly proportional to the reduction of production cost. 3D model of the mould was created in Autodesk Inventor Proffesional software and then solidification of material was simulated in Autodesk Moldflow Insight software. There were considered four types of cooling system in the article and the best one from the view of time was manufactured and placed into the injection moulding machine Arburg Allrounder 320 C.

Abstract: Alternative solid fuels becoming popular thanks to considerable fuel cost save (comparing to gas). Pellet quality varies depending on content of bark, straw and other non-wood additives. These additives decrease the combustion efficiency and increase the fuel consumption and solid emission. Pellets stored in large amount bring certain hazard for a man. They may become dangerous for the high fire risk due to self-ignition tendency and also due to moulds presence attacking the human breath system.

Abstract: Hydraulic parts with three sealing devices always leak in use, absorber and air spring for example. Hydraulic cylinder can be sealed by itself if friction hot forming technology is adopted on hydraulic cylinder at both ends. By going through the technology, two sealing devices of hydraulic parts are saved, the leak of hydraulic parts is avoided, the rigidity of hydraulic parts is enhanced, the structure of hydraulic parts is optimized and the service life of hydraulic parts is increased.

Abstract: End plate of some large container is of non-conventional type and rather large size, which is difficult to be formed. To choose fit technology parameters and mould structure, stress is analyzed and bending of shallow stretch forming rule is obeyed. Technology of large container end plate stretch forming in 500 tons oil hydraulic press is researched and one mould manufacturing method is given fit for shallow stretch forming. In this technology, to form convex bottom and improve strength, material-pressure plate is not adopted. To reduce wrinkle and stretch force, 30 degree cone of cavity die is selected. To reduce bending deformation and destabilization, round radius of male punch is 8 millimeters.

Abstract: A kind of elastic coated abrasives used for polishing large mould surface, such as automobile panel mould, is investigated in this research. Many polishing experiments were finished by using elastic coated abrasives in order to study the effects of grit and workpiece material on surface roughness and machining efficiency. It is concluded that surface roughness is minimum and polishing efficiency is the highest when using 120# abrasives at the same condition, surface roughness is the lowest and polishing efficiency is the highest for AISI 1045 steel in three materials. The difficulty of material removal is different if the textures prior to polishing are different in workpiece surface. Surface texture prior to polishing has effects on surface roughness and polishing efficiency. The research results provide foundation for process planning to achieve good surface roughness and high efficiency in the future research.
