Abstract: In this study, poly (butylene succinate) (PBS)/nature rubber (NR) composites were prepared, and the effects of NR content on the biodegradability were evaluated by vermiculite-degradation test. X-ray Diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were used to characterize the degraded blends. The weight losses of PBS/NR composites are higher than that of pure PBS, and increased with adding NR content. The weight loss of 30% NR content composite after 120 days is 16.84%. The XRD and DSC results show that the crystallinity of PBS/NR composites increase after buried in vermiculite. These results were confirmed using SEM observations by the presence of many large holes and more cracks in the degradation surface morphology of the increasing content of NR. It was observed that PBS/NR composites are green-composites or eco-materials.

Abstract: Mixing is the first step for rubber processing. For the short fiber-rubber composite materials, whether the short fibers, carbon black and other additives in the rubber are dispersed well or not has a direct bearing upon the subsequent processing of materials and final performance. Because of the softness of the short fibers, they are easy to group or break during the process of mixing. The research in this paper is conducted by experiment on the methods which are applicable for mixing or mixing rotor of short fiber-rubber composite materials so as to guarantee the materials have good dispersion and the short fibers have rational L/D ratio.

Abstract: Organo-montmorillonite (OMMT)/nature rubber (NR) nanocomposites were prepared by mixing method. The microstructure of these composites was characterized by SEM and XRD. The effect of OMMT on mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the nanocomposites was investigated in detail. SEM and XRD confirmed the intercalated structure of OMMT/NR nanocomposites. The introduction of a small amount of OMMT greatly improved the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity behavior, which was attributed to the nanometer scale dispersion and stronger interactions between OMMT and NR chains.

Abstract: The effects of drying methods on thermal-oxidation degradation and ageing behavior of nature rubber (NR) was investigated using Fourier transform infrared/Attenuated total reflection (FTIR-ATR) and thermogravimetric analysis. Examining the samples of thermal-oxidation ageing for 24h by FTIR-ATR spectroscopy allowed appearance of obvious carboxyl absorption of hot-air drying NR at 1723cm-1, decay of methylene stretch and C=C plane stretch during thermal-oxidation ageing process, to be monitored. TG and DTG were used to determine thermal-oxidation degradation temperature in air atmosphere and active energy using Coats-Redfern equation. Showed from the results, the degradation temperature and active energy of microwave drying NR was higher than hot-air drying, thermal-oxidation resistance was more excellent by FTIR analysis, indicating a higher thermal-oxidation stability of microwave drying NR.

Abstract: Nature rubber (NR) is neither completely viscous nor elastic in nature, but viscoelastic in their properties. In the experiment, we used two types of equipments named rubber process analyzer (RPA) 2000 and mooney viscometer to characterize the viscoelastic properties of NR dried by microwave and hot-air, respectively. In present research, RPA tests on uncured NR dried by different methods were carried out using frequency and strain sweeps, and Mooney viscometer was detected using the big rotor at 100°C. The results showed that microwave drying has not influenced the viscoelastic properties of NR greatly, without changing the profiles of its rheological behavior. Compared with hot-air drying, the properties of NR dried by microwave improved significantly. As a new application, microwave drying technology offered an alternative way to the drying of NR.

Abstract: Based on the dispersion characters of organic modified attapulgite (OAT) short fibers in nature rubber (NR) matrix, this paper analyzed the effects, in terms of addition amount of OAT, processing technology of rubber compound and heat treatment, on mechanical properties and anisotropy of OAT/NR composites. Results indicated that mechanical properties were better when the OAT content is 50 phr and thin-passing is 20 times, meanwhile, the longitudinal and transversal tensile strength of OAT/NR composites were 17.01 0.5 Mpa and 14.18 0.5 Mpa respectively. The anisotropy is obvious. Also the tensile and tear broken section were studied by the scanning electron microscope (SEM) and the forming mechanism of OAT/NR anisotropy composites was discussed.

Abstract: In this paper, attapulgite(AT)/nature rubber (NR) composites have been prepared through melt blending process. First, different types of attapulgite were prepared.Secend,Fourier infrared spectroscopic (FTIR) was used to analyze attapulgite. Then, different types of attapulgite were filled into natural rubber according to different proportion. Finally, The mechanisms of composites were analyzed. The results showed that siliane coupling agent Si-69 can improve the dispersion of calcined attapulgite and enhance the chemical interfacial adhesion.
