Abstract: In order to improve the setting accuracy of rolling force model, a comprehensive parameters adaptive objective function of rolling force was established. During the adaptive process, the adaptive coefficients of friction coefficient and deformation resistance were taken as the optimized parameters, and the Rosenbrock algorithm was used to search the optimal solution of the objective function. The proposed adaptive method has been applied successfully to a 1450mm 5-stand tandem cold mill. Application results show that the forecast accuracy of rolling force model has been improved significantly.

Abstract: The agricultural irrigation water of Kaifeng is mainly supplied by the Yellow River and the local underground water. According to the conditions of irrigation area water supply and groundwater reduction for many years, the paper puts forward the optimal allocation and the supplying water programs on using combination of surface water and groundwater. By using variable one-dimensional search technology, the nonlinear programming problem will be turned into linear programming problem. Thus, choose different decision variables and different parameters to use computing in order to get to approach the optimal allocation of water resources.

Abstract: In order to meet new mode of operation in current Chinese electricity market, the paper puts forward the multi-objective optimization for plant-level load distribution based on economy and environment protection. It can balance the benefits between power plants and grids. While it can minimize coal consumption, reduce the emission of pollutants and make important effects on economy and environment. This paper proposes to calculate the sum cost of coal and sewage as the new model of objective function. Through the different weights on economy and environment, plants change the assigned load so as to make the objective function minimum and achieve the optimal load distribution. At the last we can get a optimal curve by simulation.

Abstract: The fractals of the optimization problems are first discussed. The multi-fractal parameters of the optimal objective function are computed by the Detrended Fluctuation Analysis (DFA) method. The multi-fractal general Hurst Index is related to the difficulty to solve the optimization problem. These features are verified by analyzing the first six test functions proposed on 2005 IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation. The results show that the different objective functions have obvious different multifractal and the general Hurst Index can be used to evaluate the difficulty to solve the optimization problem.

Abstract: This paper mainly discusses the Multiple Constrained Qos Routing Algorithm, in the analysis of the basic on the basis of mathematical model of Qos routing. It has proposed a routing model with an objective function, integrated optimization of multiple Qos constraints. Finally, the optimization of ant colony algorithm applied to solve the problem of multiple constraints Qos. Through simulation experiments proved that the algorithm to find the path to maximum degree meets Qos requirements.

Abstract: Container, as a light steel structure, being increasingly used in building construction, containers used in construction has many advantages and applications. However, the current study mostly from the view of the architecture, as for the mechanical properties of the container building has not mentioned, that brings obstacles of the application and development of the container building. Based on the software package of HyperWorks and optimization design theory, the cross-sectional size of container building is taken as design variables, and then selected objective function and constraint functions. Finally, calculated by software, get the optimal cross-sectional dimension.

Abstract: Containers are widely used for building, in order to promote the use of container building, it is necessary to do the research on optimal design. The corresponding optimal design has been achieved through the software package of HyperWorks, the lightest total weight is taken as the objective function, and the strength and stiffness are taken as the constraint conditions. Based on the finite element analysis of the joint and corner column, the cross-sectional size is taken as design variables, and then the optimization design of joint and corner column of container building is made.

Abstract: Mathematical Models which describe the behavior of the units in Kainji hydro scheme in terms of the cost of generation as a function of power generated were developed in this work. Data including monthly operating costs in Naira (), corresponding monthly power in Megawatt (MW) and energy in Megawatt hour (MWh) contributed by each unit for the year 2008, due to data availability, was collected from the power plant. Using MATLAB environment, the objective function of each unit was modeled in terms of generation cost (/hr) as a function of power (MW) generated per unit.

Abstract: Screw presses are exclusively used for extraction of oil from vegetable seeds; having a mechanical assembly where screw shaft is used to press the seeds at high pressures in order to have a reasonable oil yield. Mostly conventional screw presses are used in the commercial and industrial sectors having high O&M costs and hence less life. For this purpose an efficient small scale screw press was selected for this study. The objective was to apply the optimization techniques in order to have a set of optimized decision variables satisfying certain constraints to get the maximum oil yield. The software used for linear optimization was TORATM Version 2.00. The objective function was to maximize the oil yield. The decision variables comprised of seed input, screw speed, motor power, die opening size, total pressure and temperature. Constraints were accordingly defined for each variable and the data was fed to TORAs input grid. The solver menu used the simplex starting all-slack method to solve the LP model. The output of the model selected the optimized variables which resulted in maximum oil yield. To include the losses incurred in the screw press a loss function was developed including the heat losses, mechanical/inertial losses and seed cake losses. The results calculated depicted an oil extraction rate of as high as 35.42% compared to the conventional oil extraction rates of 28-32%.
