Abstract: Consumer’s preference towards organic material enriched nature based green products in the cosmetics and personal care industry have intensified over the years. This paper shares the synthesis and characterization of an active organic biocarbon material derived from carbonized powdered coconut shell by bicarbonate cured activation for use in charcoal-based cosmetic and personal care products. The optimum conditions for activation was observed at 800 °C, run for 180 min, with a bicarbonate impregnation ratio of 1:3. Experimental design followed Box-Behnken approach. The increase in iodine (757.30 mg/g) and methylene blue number (111.00 mg/g) are indicative of a highly porous biocarbon material that reflects its excellent adsorption capability. Suitability of the biocarbon material for application in charcoal-based cosmetic formulation mixture was supported through proximate, texture, and color analysis. Overall material characteristics are beneficial for effective adsorbent and exfoliant functions in cleansing, detoxifying, and scrubbing.

Abstract: The objective of this study is to experimentally determine the physical and elastic properties of bamboo and set the anisotropic factor along the wall thickness of the bamboo. The physical properties were determined following the requirements of the Brazilian standard. The elastic modulus was determined by non-destructive testing using the impulse excitation method. The density in the shell region is 40% larger than the inner portion. The density variation in the wall thickness of the bamboo is not linear, having a more pronounced nonlinearity in the shell region. The results of the ANOVA table indicate that shrinkage factors in bamboo wall thickness can be considered statistically the same, i.e., they do not vary with the wall thickness of the bamboo. The anisotropic factor in the intermediate and inner region can be considered statistically equal, 1.8. As for the factor measured in the region close to the bark, 2.03, it cannot be considered equal to the other regions. There is a variation of the modulus of elasticity, between the interior and the bamboo bark, of 279%.

Abstract: This paper reports the leaching behaviour of pineapple skins incorporated in the artificial reef fabricated from recycle aggregate concrete. Pineapple skin was mixed with the concrete as added material which produce nutrients to attract fish habitat. Material test was conducted on the concrete reef specimens to determine its compressive strength. The nutrients dispersed were measured by using total phosphorus and nitrate test of the water sample collected from each of the artificial reef within the six days duration. Results showed the compression strength of the reef decreased with the increase of percentage pineapple skin used. However, it was found that the total phosphorus and nitrate leached from the reef increased gradually with time as the percentage of pineapple skin used increased.

Abstract: The principle and experimental setup of photoelectric property measurement withTime of Flight (TOF) method are described. Si sample is used to affirm thevalidity of the experiment setup. The photoelectric property of MEH-PPVmaterials is measured and the mobility is accounted base on TOF method. Moreover, the attention items of using TOF method are proposed. The results consist well with the theoretical value.

Abstract: Three kinds of organic materials were used for culture experiment, namely livestock manures, natural organic materials and half decomposed organic materials. And the modified BCR sequential extraction procedure was used to analyze the morphologic changes of Mn. The study was focus on the effects of different kinds of organic materials on contents and morphologic changes of Mn in black soil. And the results show that different kinds of organic materials all increase the total Mn contents in soil. The amplifications of livestock manures and natural organic materials are higher then half decomposed organic materials. Comparing with fertilizers only, all kinds of organic materials increase the contents of each Mn fraction. For Weak acid soluble (Aci.) fraction of Mn, natural organic materials increase most, for Reducible (Red.) fraction, livestock manures increase most, for Oxidizable (Oxi.) fraction, all kinds of organic materials are nearly the same, and for Residual (Res.) fraction, livestock manures increase most. In addition, different kinds of organic materials also lead to morphologic transformation of Mn, comparing with fertilizers only, livestock manures lead to inert transformation, while natural organic materials lead to active transformation, and half decomposed organic materials lead to inert transformation.

Abstract: We have fabricated Au/CuPc/Al/CuPc/Au organic thin film transistor (OTFTs) using vacuum deposition with CuPc thin films of stable chemical property and semi conductive Al gate thin film electrode. The static and dynamic characteristics were tested at room temperature. The test results show that the switching speed of the OTFT is ton=2.68ms, toff= 1.32ms, amplification bandwidth is 400Hz, and the cutoff frequency fc=400Hz when inputting 100Hz small square wave signal. Our OTFT has submicron conductive channel, shows operation characteristics of high frequency, high speed and high current density. Good static and dynamic characteristics of OTFT can be obtained by controlling appropriate Al gate film thickness and CuPc film thickness.

Abstract: This study describes the absorption, transmission and reflection spectra of Ag/Ti/SiO2 balls/glass and CHCl3:Alq3/Ag/Ti/SiO2 balls/glass structures with 200 ~ 650nm SiO2 balls, respectively. The enhanced fluorescence in a CHCl3:Alq3 (60nm)/Ag (70nm) / Ti (5nm) /SiO2 balls /glass structure using by surface plasmons when the light was irradiated from the backside was observed. It can be applied to improve bio-plasmonic device, organic light emitting diode and solar cell optical devices efficiency.

Abstract: Organic materials in soils mainly consist of alkanes, esters, aromatic compounds and plant secondary metabolites, but they are different from one another in material type and quantity, depending on the types of slopes. This paper conducts a comparitive study on soils from slopes along the Suining-Chongqing Railway. Preparing soil samples from the rocky slope, the cultivated and uncultivated slopes by using ultrasonic methods, we measured the organic materials with a chromatograph mass spectrometer (QP2100). The results show that the number and types of organic materials decrease from the cultivated slopes to uncultivated slopes and then to rocky slopes. No contaminant appears in artificial soils on rocky slopes, but it is found in natural soils. Hence, it can be concluded that the reconstruction of soils on engineering slopes is beneficial not only for ecological restoration, but also for the prevention of pollution.

Abstract: A new type of isotope preparation system was designed with excellent accuracy, high degree automation and high security. In view of the existing equipment with automation low degree automation, poor safety, much long preparation time and low precision of the sample preparation problems, a series of improvements were introduced, such as the automatic sampling device, contact valve, vacuum auxiliary system, gas meter and digital dashboards. It was found that the instrument finely designed had the characteristics such as high accuracy, automation and security. Combined with the sample detection device, the preparated sample had excellent detection results. Meanwhile, a set of standard operating procedures had also been formed. Furthermore, the sample preparation process was briefly discussed.
