Abstract: Thin films made of carbon nanotubes are called buckypaper (BP), which is expected to be applied to electronic devices. Usually, BP is made by the chemical vapor deposition method. In this study, we used the vacuum filtration method to make low-cost BP. To justify the outstanding electronic performance of the fabricated BP, it was utilized to make the air-cathode of the aluminum-air battery. Since the BP is lighter and has a larger specific surface area than the carbon sheet, the aluminum-air battery can be miniaturized while increasing its performance. Furthermore, UV-ozone treatment was also applied to further improve the performance of the BP because it is able to clean and improve the surface conditions.

Abstract: General problems and prospects for water-supply using ultrafiltration technology are considered. The limits for application of this technology are indicated. The industrial water ultrafiltration plants appeared in the end of the XX century. Later in 2006 year the biggest in Europe plant purifying 250,000 m^3 of water per day by ultrafiltration was put into operation in Moscow. World experience shows that in large-scale station for purifying water the technology using combination of traditional methods with ozone treatment and sorption, and then membrane ultrafiltration is very useful.

Abstract: This study was done to investigate the effects of ozone treatment as a method to improve the properties of empty fruit bunch (EFB) medium density particleboard. Two types of EFB were used in this study i.e. screw pressed and non-screw pressed empty fruit bunch. These EFB were treated in an ozone chamber for 8 hours prior to particleboard manufacturing. The mechanical properties, Modulus of Elasticity (MOE), Modulus of Rupture (MOR) and Internal Bonding (IB) and physical properties, water Absorption (WA) and Thickness Swelling (TS) of EFB particleboard were determined. The results showed that the ozone treatment could increase the MOR and IB values of EFB particleboard, but had no significant effect on MOE values. For physical properties, the values showed no improvement for TS and WA. The panels manufactured using ozone treatment was found suitable for applications for furniture products.

Abstract: High modulus carbon/epoxy composites have been attached more and more importance in the aeronautic field. Because chemical inert of high modulus carbon fiber surface and its poor impregnation for resin, it is essential to improve its polarity in order to enhance the interfacial performances of high modulus carbon/epoxy composites. In this paper, high modulus carbon fiber was treated by ozone oxidation method to modify its surfacial properties. AFM and SEM were used to observe the surface of the carbon fiber, as well as interlaminar shear strength of high modulus carbon fiber/epoxy composite was tested. The impregnation and the interfacial performances of the high modulus carbon/epoxy composites were studied. The results show that after ozone treatment, the surface impregnation of high modulus carbon fiber and the interlaminar shear strength property of high modulus carbon/epoxy composites can be improved obviously.
