Abstract: The cutting behavior of hardened steel 42CrMo with PCBN cutting tool was studied. The wear and the bottom chip were examined by means of scanning electron microscopy model JSM6490LV. The wear mechanism of tool was also analyzed.

Abstract: The electrode material is playing the very important role in the electrical discharge machining. Two kinds of electrode materials common used in EDM are compared and analyses similarities and differences in structure and physical characteristics. Combined with PcBN tool machining tests, from the electric discharge machining efficiency, electrode wear, tool surface quality, tool surface degenerating layer, machining results are in analysis and comparison, and then different electrode materials machining technics in electrical discharge machining process are summarized. Through the cutting tool electric discharge machining experiments, we can know that the graphite electrode easy to take shape, suits in the complex edge's cutting tool electric discharge machining, under the same electric discharge machining parameter condition, its processing efficiency must be higher than the copper electrode, but the electrode loses, the cutting tool surface quality and affect layer thickness are to be worse than the copper electrode.

Abstract: PCBN cutting tools is in high speed, high temperature and high pressure environment when high speed precision hard cutting hardened steel. Shear extrusion and slip effect in high speed cutting, cutting tools wear mechanisms are different from common cutting, even cutting tools wear mechanisms in high speed is in research stage at present. In this paper, coated PCBN cutting tools wear mechanisms in high speed cutting(v=200~600m/min) GCr15 (HRC62-64) is studied, it is helpful to obtain cutting tools structure design, cutting parameters and improve cutting tools use efficiency.

Abstract: In order to realize general management of PCBN tool multimedia information, this paper set up multimedia cutting database of PCBN tool on the platform of Visual Basic, mainly applied database interface technology of Visual Basic and database management system of Microsoft SQL Server 2000. Aimed at the characteristic of large video data, handling relative path was brought forward as a method. Practice proved that handling relative path could realize all functions the database needed, and increase system running speed, general management of PCBN tool information under different machining conditions was realized.
