Abstract: This paper addresses a study undertaken to develop spatial numerical models of a piston, a piston pin and a connecting rod with reference to real components of a combustion engine crank system. The numerical studies conducted comprised an analysis of how the mechanical strength of piston pins was influenced depending on the change in their inner shape. For the purposes of calculations, various scenarios of shape modification were proposed for piston pins currently in use, enabling their weight to be reduced.

Abstract: The piston pin punching recess automatic drilling machine tool, is a dedicated machine tool designed and manufactured to solve the possess of piston pin punching recess. This paper studies the design of the dedicated machine’s control system, which uses open CNC technology, hydraulic technology, PLC technology, electrical technology, and human-machine interface technology. The control system can achieve the automation of feeding and blanking process. Replace of control panel, adopting touch screen to achieve operational control, and monitor the status of real-time job on the machine.

Abstract: Carried on finite element analysis using the UG software to finally carry on the fatigue life’s computational method to carry on the exploration and the research. when carrying on the finite element stress strain analysis to the piston pin, used the different analysis method, because the piston pin’s quality is very slightly oppositeing to the piston quality, produces the force of inertia is very small, the counter stress computed result is not very obvious, therefore to piston pin finite element analysis we uses conventional algorithm that infliction boundary condition.

Abstract: This paper presents the effect of squeeze motion to elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL) in piston pin of air compressor with non-Newtonian lubricants based on a Carreau viscosity model. The time dependent modified Reynolds equation and elasticity with initial conditions were formulated and solved numerically using a multigrid multilevel with full approximation technique for a piston pin. Effects of bearing materials and liquid properties were examined. The results show that minimum film thickness and friction coefficient increases when lubricant viscosity increases. At the same time, for increasing of elastic modulus of bearing bushing the friction coefficient decreases.

Abstract: The lubrication model of connecting rod small end is established based on AVL Excite Designer software. On the based the four-cylinder diesel engine, the key to the study is the variation of oil-film thickness between the piston pin and the connecting-rod bush. The relationship between the oil film and the engine rotate speed is analyzed, and the results indicated that variation amplitude of the oil film thickness becomes smaller by the engine rotate speed increases, and the average film thickness is increased

Abstract: In centerless grinding machine, piston pin is not convenient for online detection. It is better to be tested and sorted by automatic sorting mechanisms. The piston pin automatic sorting system designed in the paper is a machine based on the detection results to shunt qualified product, nonconforming product and waste automatically. Graph of movement, tree graph of function and morphological matrix charts are mapped, the mechanical movement scheme is determined. Further, the machine is drawn in three-dimensional form. It can shunt product automatically

Abstract: The method of piston pin's strength calculation base on FEA is proposed to solve the pin's failure. The pin's circular deformation is measured by node displacements, and the conventional static strength analysis is replaced by multi-case fatigue calculation. Compared with the conventional strength verification method, the FEA result is more accurate with the reality.

Abstract: In this paper, ADAMS multi-body dynamics simulation was introduced in order to solve the diesel engine piston pin dynamics. Take diesel engine piston for example, the model of piston system was established based on ADAMS/Engine module. According to rotational speed of crankshaft, piston pin dynamics simulation was analyzed. Through Fast Fourier Transformation, piston pin power spectral density was got for piston pin fault diagnosis. The results show that simulation results are consistent with theory, dynamics simulation applied in fault diagnosis is feasible.

Abstract: Due to the fatigue failure and the fracture injury occurs under the alternative mechanical loads, the optimal design of the piston pin is presented depending on the FEA static analysis. The optimization is carried out using the Genetic Algorithm (GA), and the piston noncircular pin hole is used to further reduce the stress concentration on the upper end of the piston pin seat.
