Abstract: Recently, as workpieces have become increasingly fine, there has been growing demand for small-diameter hole drilling of 1 mm or less. Compared to general drills, small-diameter drills have lower tool rigidity and poor chip evacuation, making them prone to breakage. In actual machining operations, the workpiece may be wasted owing to unexpected tool breakage. Therefore, there is a growing expectation for "the development of prediction technology to avoid breakage" of small-diameter drills. In this study, we analyzed the mechanism of breakage for small diameter drill, which will help future research on the prediction and detection of tool breakage.

Abstract: The kinematic versions and applied tools of milling allow for the machining of several surfaces and surface combinations, making it a versatile and widely applied procedure. Face milling for cutting is used for the high productivity manufacturing of prismatic components. Naturally, the enhancement of productivity is a primary goal for manufacturing companies; this study analyzes the efficiency of material removal, which directly influences the time parameters characterizing production performed by face milling. The focus of the paper is to identify the selection of technological data (feed, feed rate, cutting speed, diameter of milling head) that can reduce the machining time or increase the values of material removal rate. Cutting experiments were carried out for machining prismatic components from AlSi9Cu3(Fe) aluminum alloy by diamond tools. It was found that within the performance limits of the manufacturing system it is possible to save a significant amount of manufacturing time while retaining the specified geometric accuracy and surface quality of the component.

Abstract: In the globally competitive environment, surface roughness and finer tolerances are becoming stringent and certainly most critical for optical components. The aim of this study is to determine the effects of diamond turning process parameters on surface finish when diamond turning RSA 443 alloy having high silicon content. This alloy is a new grade of aluminum that has a potential to be used for production of various optical components. The experiments were conducted based on the Box-Behnken design with three diamond-turning parameters varied at three levels. A mathematical regression model was developed for predicting surface roughness. Further, the analysis of variance was used to analyze the influence of cutting parameters and their interaction in machining. The developed prediction model reveals that cutting speed and feed rate are the most dominant diamond turning factors influencing surface roughness.

Abstract: The Internet of Things (IoT) can be regarded as an attempt to bring together the physical and the digital world by using devices for seamlessly exchanging and processing information that can be used anywhere, anytime. For industrial automation and manufacturing, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) is regarded as the next step of industrial revolution that promises a step-change in productivity and operational efficiency.Precision machining is a field that has received a lot of research interest as it deals with phenomena and underlying mechanisms that are very complex and highly interacting. As the requirements and demand for products of high quality and tolerances that must be produced with shorter lead times are increasing, innovative approaches and methodologies need to be developed to compensate and IIoT offers an appropriate platform. This paper aims to present an overview of IIoT, investigate potential industrial applications for precision machining and predict future trends.

Abstract: Under the influence of the pressure caused by the application of the cutting edge on the surface of the workpiece elastic waves are generated. Waves propagate in the material in every possible direction and can be identify by specialized measuring equipment. Acoustic emission phenomenon was used to determine the beginning of decohesion process. The article presents a new method for determination of the decohesion process during peripheral milling performed with the indexable cutting tools on samples made out of titanium based alloy and nickel based alloy.

Abstract: The Lean Six Sigma (LSS) conception and other solutions in modern manufacturing and management systems have rapidly spread in precision machining in the last decades. Cost components related to quality control of precision parts are analyzed in the paper on the basis of the cutting edge LSS approach. An optimization framework intended to increase the efficiency of production process planning is introduced. The model helps in calculating economic profit, which differs from accounting profit with the extent of opportunity costs. It is found that drastic reduction of the scrap rate, though increasing customer satisfaction, is not always a proper solution due to the extent of quality cost. The applicability of the elaborated framework was tested and some promising results gained during managerial interviews are also summarized in the paper.

Abstract: To effectively realize fast and high accurate measurements of flatness error on the surface of machining workpiece, multiple sets of actual machining experimental data are used as samples, a soft-sensing model of flatness error on the surface of machining workpiece is established by using the speed n, the moving speed of carriage uy and the voltage U of piezoelectric ceramic micro-feed drive as arguments with SVM(Support Vector Machine), and adaptive genetic algorithm is used to optimize the allowable error ε, the number of positive gasification rules c and the parameters of kernel function r, the results of training, testing and practical application show, after the optimization of 200 steps, training mean relative error which became saturated is 3.4%, testing relative error is less than 2.6%, the range of average relative error between the soft measurement value of flatness error on the surface of machining workpiece and the test value of L-730 laser flatness measuring instrument is 1.2% to 2.4%.

Abstract: This paper introduced about the in-process vibration testing method for small diameter endmill. By this method, the natural frequency and modal parameters such as mass, damping, and stiffness of the milling tool can be determined in the milling process. An oscillation of the vibrator is controlled by the function generator to apply the impact force at the appropriate cutting period. The measurement setup can determine the compliance curve by the measurement signals of the exiting force and tool deformation. To evaluate the feasibility of the new method, vibration tests were performed on a square endmill which has the diameter of 4 mm in the milling on brass material. Results of vibration tests show that modal parameters of the specific vibration mode can be determined by the new developed method.

Abstract: This paper proposes a novel process strategy for micro-cutting edge fabrication. Micro-cutting edges need a hardening process for the ridgeline parts that requires abrasive resistance, as well as edge sharpness and shape accuracy, based on their applications. Micro-cutting edge shapes also vary greatly in ridgeline profile and section. The proposed method is shape fabrication after laser hardening, which easily addresses these issues. In the present paper, effects of the proposed method are discussed and the results of a demonstration test are introduced.

Abstract: During the processing of aircraft and other high precision machinery workpieces, if using the traditional machining methods, it will consume a amount of machining costs, and the mechanical processing cycle is long. In this context, this paper designs a kind of robot intelligent processing system with high precision machinery. And it has realized the intelligent online control on the machining process by using the high precision machining intelligent online monitoring technology and the numerical simulation prediction technology. Finally, this system is introduced into the process of data mining for volleyball game, and designs the partial differential variational data mining model, which has realized the key parameter data mining of volleyball games service system, and has provided reliable parameters and technical support for the training of volleyball players.
