Abstract: The deterministic analytic stress formula of double-Layer pressure vessels is derived. The optimum radius ratio between the inner and outer layers is obtained under uniform safety margins. Based on that, the method for evaluating the fuzzy stress and strength reliability is presented and an application example is given. The investigation provides a reference for further studies of uncertain mechanical problems of multi-layer pressure vessels

Abstract: Application of flat welded ends with stress relief grooves in high-pressure vessels is a common alternative to use of dished vessel ends. It is well established and follows calculation rules given in codes: EN-12952-3 [1], EN-13445-3 [2], or in ASME code [3]. However the calculation rules do not give any definite answer what should be the choice of parameters defining a circular stress relief groove, for example, position of the groove and its radius. Usually the choice of them relies on engineering practice. The present paper clearly shows the influence of this choice on stress concentration in the cylinder-endplate junction area. The results of numerical study are verified in experimental investigations performed for a cylindrical high-pressure vessel.

Abstract: Pressure vessel is not only the equipment used in the process industrial production, but also a more vulnerable to accidents special equipment. Under normal circumstances, in addition to bear the majority of media pressure, pressure vessels usually accompanied by the joint role of the high temperature, high pressure or media corrosion. Therefore, the design on the pressure vessels in anomaly conditions and the dynamic response not only helps to the research and development of warning surveillance and prevention technology about pressure vessels in anomaly conditions, but also contribute to the correct evaluation of the feasibility and reliability. So the simulated annealing algorithm based on penalty strategy is adopted to solver the optimization model of pressure vessels.

Abstract: According to high strain gradients characteristic at the junction between pressure vessel and nozzle, based on simulating shape plate of pressure vessel nozzle, weak-conforming element models are established for two types of special shape plates, which satisfied weak continuous conditions between elements. The weak-conforming element methods do not need satisfy stress equilibrium conditions. It can solve the conventional finite element difficult to adapt to the singularity of the field. The stresses are obtained by means of weak-conforming element method. The calculation results are in accordance with those of experiment results. This paper provides the foundation for the design of special shape plates and analysis of extending crack.

Abstract: Election Campaign Optimization algorithm is a new heuristic algorithm, it works by simulating the behavior that the election candidates pursue the highest support in election campaign. In this paper, the problem of optimal designing a pressure vessel is selected to verify the validity of Election Campaign Optimization algorithm. The computing result shows that Election Campaign Optimization algorithm can find the global optimal solutions for design problem.

Abstract: Functionally graded material (FGM) is well-known as one of the most promising materials in the 21st century, which has become the hot issue on its mechanical behavior and composition design. The optimization design of the material distribution properties for an FGM hollow vessel subjected to internal pressure were investigated in this paper. By constructing an exponentially function determining the material properties, the general analytical solution of the stresses of the FGM pressure vessel was given based on the Euler-Cauchy formula. And then, an optimization model for obtaining the optimal material distribution of FGM vessel was proposed coupling the general finite element (FE) code. The discrepancy between the analytical solution and the numerical solution was about 2%, which verified the reliability of the proposed models, and the optimization results also proved the feasibility of proposed optimization scheme because of arriving at the optimal solution in a few iterations. Results obtained would be helpful in designing an FGM pressure vessel.

Abstract: The sensitivity of blast pressure of a pressure vessel to the material strength, the effective welding depth and the relative radius is studied by finite element simulations and single-factor sensitivity analyses. And the sensitivity coefficients are obtained by normalization procession. Furthermore, a three-factor regression model is obtained by multi-factor numerical experiments. The investigation of this paper provides guidelines for further researches of relating problems.
