Abstract: In order to know the application of bentonite in color ink-jet paper, an acid bentonite was prepared by modifying with sulphuric acid. Both of sodium bentonite and acid bentonite were characterized and evaluated with scanning electron microscope. The study result from printing quality testing showed that if the formulation of acid bentonite, under the dosage of 35% PVA and PDMDAAC 3% respectively, was used as the pigment, the print effect could be better.

Abstract: Edible inkjet ink is a new water-based green ink, all the raw materials are in line with food hygiene standards, it has the characteristics of edible, safe, environmentally friendly and its suiTab.for food packaging printing. In order to obtain good performance and printing quality of edible inkjet ink, food-grade raw materials were used to prepare inkjet ink. Then the formula was optimized according to the effect on droplet state of ink viscosity and surface tension. In the end, droplet state and printing quality of prepared ink was tested. The results show that the prepared edible inkjet ink has good droplet state and printing quality.

Abstract: Whiteness of wrapping paper is the main affecting factor of printed matter color rendition, the higher the whiteness, the better the results of color rendition. But the result of pursuiting high whiteness is that human eyes are harmed by the photic stimulation of paper-based printed matter. To solve the mentioned above problem, this paper preliminary researches the correlation between paper whiteness and asthenopia, the correlation between printing quality and paper whiteness, for finding out appropriate whiteness that can meet the eyes comfort and have better printing quality. Results show the asthenopia occurs easier as whiteness of wrapping paper increases. Besides, the paper samples with the whiteness values as 89.4% and 96.2% have the better printing quality, and the samples with the whiteness values as 84.6% have the worse printing quality relatively, but the quality gap is not big. Results show the whiteness of samples is between 84.6% and 89.4%, human eyes dont feel asthenopia and the printing quality is better. The research results can provide the theoretical basis for printing and packaging enterprises to choose paper which are suitable for printing packing and have eye-protection function, and contribute to the human eye protection.

Abstract: The era of environmental protection and personalization has become increasingly prominent, and people not only focus on the beauty of the design, but also pay more attention to the quality of the clothing. For inkjet printing, the viscosity and surface tension of ink are major factors that affect the quality of ink-jet printing. In order to obtain a better print quality, the samples of five different viscosity and surface tension of ink were prepared respectively by changing the content of the resin and the surface active agent. Using these samples to print on the fabric by Epson printer, and to discuss the influence of the ink in different viscosity and surface tension on the ink-jet printing quality, such as apparent color depth (K / S), color parameters (L, C), permeability, clarity. The results showed that: with the increase of the ink viscosity, the apparent depth of color yield increased gradually and became darker in color. L value decreased gradually and had a increasing trend, and tends to be stable. C value increased and vividness of the color was improved. And it also had a certain impact on the infiltration resistance and clarity. Surface tension also had a significant impact on the depth of the apparent color, vividness of the color and directly affected the ink permeability and clarity.

Then the properties of ink-jet paper were tested and their surface profiles were characterized and evaluated with scanning electron microscope. Finally, the coating paper samples and the base papers were all printed with color ink-jet printer and measured with a spectrodensitometer. The study result showed that it can gain well coating and printing quality when the ratio of SiO2 and TiO2 is 3:1 and the content of PVA adhesive is 50%, especially paper whiteness is obviously higher than that before the coating.

Abstract: To enhance printing qualities, this study used refluxed silica (SiO2) from rice husk by hydrochloric acid (HCl) at different molarities and reaction times as coating agent for printed paper. Characterization of the refluxed silica from 2M HCl 120 min elucidated the purity of 98.7% and amorphous structure. Particle size of the silica exhibited uniform size of 3 μm and the color measurement (CIE L*a*b*) indicated 94.79+0.48+1.24, whiteness and color difference (E) were 84.85, 3.28, respectively. The coating agent was prepared by water-based varnish of acrylic resin mixed with the synthesized silica at different proportions: 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, and 1.5 (%wt), and later was applied on 170 g/m2-white kraft papers. The results showed that the water-based coating varnish with silica exhibited an increase of viscosity as increasing the amount of the silica. Printing qualities indicated that the vanished printed paper with 1.0% silica elucidated the highest details in shadow tone and text (font) sharpness. The color gamut yielded a wider scope than the printed papers which were varnished with the silica at 0.0%, 0.5% and 1.5%. Nonetheless, the color density showed insignificant difference to 1.5% silica varnished paper.

Abstract: The printed materials used for UV-curable inkjet ink have diversity, in order to research the differences of the printability of UV-curable inkjet ink on different printed materials and improve the printing quality of UV-curable inkjet ink printing on different materials, this research select coated paper, glass card adhesive paper, PVC plastic film as printed materials. After printing the same UV-curable inkjet ink,the printing quality indicators of printing proofs including the density of the line, blurriness, raggedness, line width and contrast of printing product lines were tested,and then test the contact angle of UV-curable inkjet ink on three printed materials, combined with wetting situation,analysis the printing quality of UV ink-jet ink on different substrate, prepare UV ink-jet ink with different printability, printing and testing the printing quality, assessing the quality with comprehensive evaluation method. The result shows that it's existed large differences among the printing quality of the same UV-curable inkjet inks printing on different materials. We match the printed materials with the corresponding printability of UV-curable inkjet inks in the practical production, in order to get the best printing results.

Abstract: In the process of the ink drops forming and spreading out, the viscosity and surface tension of the ink play an important role, and then the drops’ injection and printing quality will be influenced by this process. Besides, drops control technology is the key of ink-jet printing technology, and the drops’ injection state will also influence the printing quality. In order to research the influencing factors to printing quality, many samples with different performances are prepared and their drop states include speed, tail length and volume are measured with drop observatory. And then, the specimen pages include lines of different width are printed, order to assessment the printing quality comprehensively, their line width, raggedness, blurriness, density and contrast are measured. The result show that the inks with different performance show different speed, tail length and volume, and their corresponding printing qualities are different too, and there exists linear relationship between printing quality and the drops’ viscosity, surface tension and speed.

Abstract: By experimental methods, the influence of paper's properties on solid ink density and color reproduction results of digital prints was investigated, and different printing requirements on paper surface properties are analyzed. Different categories of paper were used, of which whiteness and smoothness was analyzed firstly, and then were output by same test target. Result shows that the paper's properties will impact on print quality to some extent, different paper should be taken for different images. The results of this paper has some practical guidance for printing companies, which can be used to research the printability of printing inks and papers, optimize printing process, improve printing quality, and provide method of standardization of process control.
