Abstract: In order to speed up the design of automobile exhaust system products and improve the quality of products, a set of database software of automobile exhaust system product was developed. The software uses visual programming tools VB 6.0 and relational database SQL server 2005 for design and development, which can realize storage and query of exhaust system product parameter information, geometric model, design scheme, the model and results of numerical calculation, and test plan and results, and implement the parametric design of muffler noise elimination unit and the function of performance evaluation. Enterprise actual test showed that the system can improve the exhaust system of product design and development ability significantly and shorten the design cycle, which produces great economic efficiency.

Abstract: On the base of green design concept, multi-functional product design is given a new meaning. It is no longer simply a combination of multi-functional functions, but to extend product function on the bases of no extra cost and no waste of materials. Through fuzzy functional design, integrated design of related functions, developing the secondary function of product, as well as enhancing the product spiritual function and other ways, we can achieve multi-functional design of products.

Abstract: Based on the current status of the development of the market for office furniture, an entry point is to study the design of man-machine relationship, research and analyze the defects and problems about existing office furniture, Thus devise a sit, stand dual desk, It can not only achieve the basic functions of their office, but also allows to bring workers a different sports experience in the office at the same time, and improve work efficiency.

Abstract: Product design and development becomes increasingly knowledge-intensive and collaborative. It is very difficult to meet currently imperious needs for the traditional design mode, knowledge managing methods and the geometry-centric application tool. Designers require more generic knowledge of design and design process and more intelligent system. It establishes the FBPSS framework system supporting modeling of product function, behavior, principle, state and structure. Based on this FBPSS framework system, ontology-based product design system is developed through design knowledge repositories.

Abstract: “The slow lifestyle” objects to excessive consumption and waste, but advocates the design of simplicity, economy and humanity. A too speedy lifestyle will surely exert influence on people’s health and not conform to the life essence, which has something in common with the viewpoint of moderate “putting-down” posed by Buddhism. It’s a wise choice to “put down” those unhealthy lifestyles and designs having nothing to do with boosting life quality.

Abstract: Many developing countries, like Bangladesh, have many three wheeler vehicles as a popular cheap transport option. Usually the driver seats of such vehicles are locally designed without considering ergonomics. Thus, drivers of such vehicles suffer from discomfort in the short term and back pain and other ailments in the long run. So if driver’s seats in such three wheelers could be designed considering ergonomics, it would be beneficial for them. This paper describes the design of the seat of a three wheeler vehicle considering ergonomics and low cost available materials.

Abstract: This study established a support tool framework for TRIZ practitioners to specify the problems statement stage in TRIZ method through utilizing the Multi Criteria Decision Method (MDCM) of Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP). The proposed framework was analyzed and evaluated by a case study of car’s dashboard. From a list of problems and customer complaints gathered by survey, the problems were evaluated through AHP method and resulted only three major problems that should be highlighted for further steps. Results indicated that the improvement design generated by both methods could came out an appropriate new design effectively and avoided the cost waste during the product design and development processes.

Abstract: Paper cutting, as an ancient and unique Chinese characteristics of the folk traditional culture elements, comes from people's daily life, which reflects people's the most simple pursuit and yearning for a better life , is an embodiment of a traditional concept of creation in life. As the time goes on, the full integration of folk paper-cut with local culture and a variety of unique styles embodies the concept of creation and the origin of cultural spirit is a great help to the modern design. With the exploration of paper-cut culture, this paper researches the modern product design, inspirates from its creation technique and art, in order to inherit the ancient folk culture, at the same time, gives some help to the product design in the new era.

Abstract: In order to reduce the information chaos of product design, we present the main motions of Design-Element based product design that we call it DE-PD. Different from traditional product design process composed of function, style, or customer requirements etc.al, DE-PD is driven by the knowledge and information flows in product design iteration. In DE-PD, the product is composed of Design-Elements (DE) which is the integration of related knowledge and information. After discussing the definition and information construct of DE, we present the iteration of DE based product design. To evaluate the method, a design case of beach motorcycle with limit mount of DEs is conceived. Evaluation results show that DE-PD is a promising approach for product design informatization.

Abstract: Integrating the internal and external factors of product design, this paper explore the way of the suitability of the product design and the plastic technique, and build the evaluation system of suitability of the selection of plastic technique in product design.
