Abstract: This paper presents an application of the Finite Volume Particle Method to incompressible flows. The two-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes solver is based on Chorin’s projection method with finite volume particle discretization. The Finite Volume Particle Method is a meshless method for fluid dynamics which unifies advantages of particle methods and finite volume methods in one scheme. The method of manufactured solutions is used to examine the global discretization error and finally a comparison between finite volume particle method simulations of an incompressible flow around a fixed circular cylinder and the numerical simulations with the CFD code ANSYS FLUENT 14.0 is presented.

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to develop a new method for the material selection problem, which is important for the product design. Material selection problem is actually a multi-attribute decision making (MADM) problem which contains many influence factors. The new material selection method is an extension of projection method with evaluation attribution values expressed with triangular fuzzy numbers. Coefficient of variation method is used to determine weights of evaluation attribute. A grinding wheel abrasive material selection problem is used to illustrate the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed method.

Abstract: Material selection problem is important for the product design, and contains many influence factors. Thus it is actually a multi-attribute decision making (MADM) problems. The aim of this paper is to propose a new decision method based on the projection method for the material selection problem, in which attribute values expressed with interval numbers. An objective determining weights method is proposed according to coefficient of variation method. A practical example is used to illustrate the effectiveness and practicability of the proposed method.

Abstract: In this paper projection method based on combination weights is inducted and applied in comprehensive evaluation for highway network planning. Considering the subjective and objective factors, the combination of AHP and entropy weight is more accurate. Index vector of each road network plan is projected to the most ideal solution vector, the quality of various plans can be differentiated by the projection values. An application example is given that has proved the model is right and valid.

Abstract: Introduce a complete system of license plate recognition: using morphological processing and priori knowledge of license plate to discern the location of license plate, accomplishing tilt correction through Radon transform, then fulfilling character segmentation of accurate positioning license plate by projection, finishing character recognition through BP neural network which was improved by the use of adaptive learning rate and momentum factor. With the programming and verification on Matlab experimental platform, experimental results show that we can have a preferable recognition speed and accuracy.

Abstract: To meet the requirements of real-time on-line detection, an algorithm for hot stamping image recognition was proposed based on projection with adaptive threshold. Firstly CCD collects digital image, then convert RGB images into HSV space, and extract V channel. The initial threshold was set according to the error on the first location of matching region. In the subsequent template matching process, the threshold would be update; the smallest D-value point is the best match. The experiment results show that the improved algorithms can identify hot stamping area and greatly increase the matching velocity, having certain guiding significance to hot stamping quality detection based on machine vision.

Abstract: In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a vision system for power transmission facilities detection based on UAV videos. The vision system consists of two main parts, the client part and the server part. The aim of the system is to detect the power transmission facilities in complex background. In order to achieve this aim, several novel methods are proposed for detecting the power transmission facilities which include the power line, the power tower, and the insulator. The experiment results on real image data demonstrate that the proposed methods are accurate and effective. The system is presented to demonstrate the performance of the detection methods.

Abstract: Since it is difficult to locate license plate quickly and precisely under complicated background and different illumination conditions, therefore, this paper proposes a high-speed and precise approach to solve such kind of problem on the basis of texture analysis and projection method. The approach utilizes both rich textural feature and projective statistical feature of characters in LP region to carry out coarse and fine license plate location. The experiment shows that, under different illumination, car models and background conditions, such approach is proved to be fast, precise and practical.

Abstract: This paper deals with numerical modeling of water flow which is generated by the break of a dam. The problem is solved by applying a new Incompressible Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (ISPH) algorithm based on projection method. The proposed ISPH model has two steps. In the first step, the incompressibility of fluid is maintained regarding to the changes of intermediate and initial particles densities at the first half-time step (stability step). In the second step, by computing the divergence of the intermediate secondary velocity at the second half-time step (accuracy step), the incompressibility is satisfied completely. In fact, by using this method both stability and accuracy are increased. The simulation illustrates the formation and subsequent propagation of a wave over the horizontal plane. It is shown that the model predictions compare well with experimental data.
