Abstract: With the ongoing pace of city development and urban population growth, public transportation is the solution for traffic decongestion. The extensive use of cars causing traffic jams, and more serious pollution, more and more people should travel by public transportation means. In this article, we tested and analysed the vibration characteristics of local tramway transportation by using vibration measurement and analysis system. In spite of increasing exposure to vibrations, transportation supervisors do not concern themselves to the health effects of whole-body vibration or hand transmitted vibrations. Exposure to whole-body vibration is a growing concern in industry, traffic and in other branches of the economy. This harmful physical factor endangers human health not only at work but also in everyday life: in public transportation. The paper concerns with the vulnerability of the human body to vibrations transmitted from trams. The accelerations of the vibrations were measured on the axes (x-, y- and z-axes), and these values were compared to the ones from standards for acceptable human exposure to whole-body vibration.

Abstract: Malaysia governments are seeing that the future of transportation to be creating an environmentally clean and sustainable for the benefit of the people.A huge amount of investment has been made by the governments towards a public transportation sector by expecting that the infrastructure and sustainability of transportation could change the number of modal share gradually. However, the numbers of modal share has not increased compared to private vehicle usage of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Therefore, a study on the travellers (both public and private vehicle users) attitudes is important to help understand the similarity or differences that could explain the modal share. The purpose of this study is to compare the attitudes of travellers in the Kuala Lumpur city centre by analysing the similarities and differences of attitudes among Public Transport users (PT) and Private Transport users (PV). The attitude being studied is about travelling without any specification of modes, thus examining 1790 KL dwellers objectives and provide the basis for fair and just comparison with regard to PT and PV. The attitudes towards travelling were measured by a 5-point Likert scale using a structured questionnaire, and statistically analysed by applying factor analysis provided in SPSS. The study found that six attitudes define the attitudes of PT traveller towards travelling, and three attitudes were influencing PV travellers toward travelling. Based on this outcome, the key attitudes that influence travellers’ willingness to use public transport were discussed and identified. The results lead to understanding the attitudes of people towards travelling from the eye of public transport and private transport users. The understanding forms concrete basis for government to plan on strategies to shift private vehicle users and promote usage of public transport. For operators, the understanding also provides invaluable input for strategic planning of marketing effort/public policy.Keyword- Traveller Attitude, Age, Gender, Income level, Public Vehicle, Private Vehicle

Abstract: This paper analyzes the steps and difficulties of bus priority network design, including the bi-level characteristics of problems related to bus priority network design. Based on that, a bi-level model with the maximization of the overall bus transportation efficiency as the upper level and the minimization of bus passengers’ cost as the lower level is established and the solution algorithm of the model is studied.

Abstract: To the convenience of passenger travel, a kind of electronic bus stop boards system is discussed in this paper, which can be considered as intelligent equipment based on wireless communication technology. The combination between short-range wireless and long-distance communication module, together with the microcontroller composes the electronic bus stop boards system. The electronic bus stop boards system indicates the number of stations away from passengers’ station board on different nearest buses, current time and real-time humiture. The test results showed that the system could realize short-range and long-distance communication function and display the necessary information. With the advantages of high reliability and efficiency at low cost, the electronic bus stop boards system has more practical popularized value to replace traditional intelligent station boards with GPS and GPRS by cheap wireless communication module.

Abstract: The electric demand of EV in the public transportation sector is increasingly important to the future city’s power distribution and even infrastructure construction. According to the characteristic of public transportation, this paper analyzed the influence factors of EV power load and they were divided into three parts. Then a predicting model of EV power load in public transportation based on fuzzy clustering analysis method was put forward. We used BP (Back Propagation) neural network algorithm to solve the fuzzy clustering analysis problem. Finally the predicting model was operated in a practical example. Results showed that this predicting model of EV power load in public transportation based on fuzzy clustering analysis could be appropriately applied in reality.

Abstract: In this paper, how to design the layout of transit hub terminals is discussed, and an optimized allocation model about bus lines and bus terminals is established. In order to address the slow convergence of adaptive genetic algorithm, an index that indicates population diversity degree is introduced to adjust the individual crossover and mutation rate. This improved adaptive genetic algorithm is applied for the allocation model and an example is used to validate its efficiency. Results show that it is a promising approach and can improve the convergence speed.

Abstract: The group eigenvalue method and extension set theory were used to assess the comprehensive evaluation of the satisfaction degree for the public transportion. Analyzing the factors that influence the satisfaction degree of public transportion, it puts forward the evaluation index system of satisfaction degree. In order to determine effectively the satisfaction degree, used the group eigenvalue method to decide the index weight, and the matter element model of satisfaction degree for public transportion was constructed. Finally, the scientificity and rationality of the evaluation method was detected by application example, according to the evaluation result, carried on the corresponding analysis.

Abstract: Public transportation smart card system in China has been widely used in many cities recently. Large amounts of information implicit in the smart card, but it is not completely applied, because the information is incomplete, such as the information of getting-off bus stop. For this problem, a method is proposed to calculate OD (Origin-Destination) of smart card data. And it is well applied in digging the information of getting-off bus stop.

Abstract: This paper uses genetic algorithm to optimize public transportation network by extracting the topology of a local public transportation network as an instance. An optimization model is formulated and characteristics of the optimal network are analyzed. A simulation using multi-agent simulation software NetLogo is successfully implemented to verify the optimal results. Results show the validity of optimization in public transportation network by the proposed genetic algorithm. From the study, it is also found that NetLogo is of great advantage for simulation verification in complex networks.

Abstract: According to statistical data of Fuzhou City, using Delphi method and weight method, we established decision matrix of urban public transportation development mode and estimated the urban public transportation development mode. The result show that bus rapid transit system is the optimal public transportation mode for Fuzhou city, followed by conventional public transport system, then, for light rail system. And that bus rapid transit system matching with urban passenger transportation is good in Fuzhou city
