Abstract: Heat island effect has been a prominent environmental problem that impacted the urban sustainable development at present, and then Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) were served as the powerful tools for the research of urban heat island effect. In this paper, Landsat imagery of coastal zone in Qingdao served as data source was collected, and the Land Surface Temperature map in 1995, 2000, 2003, 2009 was obtained through GIS software. The results indicated that (1) heat island of study area distributed in the rapid urbanization and industrialization regions with high population density while low plant cover degree; (2) the distribution of heat island changed largely among different years; (3) human activities were the dominant driver to the urban heat island.

Abstract: In order to get a scientific assessment of the coastal ecosystem health in Qingdao, a study on ecosystem health assessment of Qingdao coastal zone during 1998-2009 based on press-state-response (PSR) model contained a series of indicators was conducted. In this paper, the integrated ecosystem health index was calculated through weight values multiplied the standardization values of the indicators. The results indicated that the IEHI in the coastal zone of Qingdao fluctuated by a large margin during 1998-2009, when the IEHI range from 0.35 to 0.84, and the ecosystem was in the states of unhealthy and subhealthy in most of the time interval. The urban expansion and the three wastes were the dominating pressure factors which effected the coastal ecosystem health. The atmosphere and inshore environment took a turn for the worse, while the cultivated land resource exhausted almost. In order to improve the coastal ecosystem health, it was quite necessary to increase the forest coverage rate, tertiary industry proportion and investment in environmental protection.

Abstract: Theme park is a kind of cultural landscape with special culture context. In this paper, it took the urban design of movie trading theme park in Qingdao as the typical example and pointed out that the emphasis of the theme park design should be put on the elements control from six aspects. Reasonable layout, high standard architectures, systematic traffic organization, splendid landscape and the refining of cultural elements are the key points to the successful development of theme park.

Abstract: Our country has a large population and limited land and is being in a rapid development stage of industrialization and urbanization of the unique national circumstances.there is an urgent requirement to carry out research which maximize the utilization of urban land and optimize the industrial structure. The industrial structure development characteristic, the insufficiency and the land utilization problem exists in Qingdao have been researched, from relative land productivity, Floor area ratio, rate of area per GDP and so on various aspects have analyzed the relationship between industrial structure transformation and optimal allocation of land，finally put forward some countermeasures and suggestions in the process of implement about the industrial structure optimization and the land utilization maximization .

Abstract: Through introduced the development of the protection of industry heritage, analyzed the status quo of protection of Qingdao industry heritage and referred to the excellent instance, finally, it can be conclude the following viewpoints: for the target, mainly contains tracing urban memory and enhancing the suitability of industrial heritage; for the strategies, mainly contains the emphasis on the “truth” of industrial heritage, the rational way of protection and reuse, and the concrete strategies.

Abstract: The paper presented the research on for German Navy's second battalion headquarters building site from the perspectives of building site, building plane, building facades and building structure. building site conformed to terrain, Shapes of building facades were flexible and varied, the overall architectural construction was brick-stone-wood composite structure.The building style was the typical of German Romanticism, both in layout or in the facade shape, color, structure, etc.; it had shown the lively romantic chic, eclectic architectural style.

Abstract: A large-scale urban construction was carried out in Qingdao during German Occupation Period (1897-1914) as the first upsurge in Qingdao's urban development. Influenced by western architectural culture, buildings, as cultural carriers, embody the culture and arts of the specific historical period and reflect the architectural and cultural trends appeared in urban development and social evolution.

Abstract: Using GIS and such models as dynamic degree, analyzed the land-use change in Qingdao according to the statistics of land-use data from 2000 to 2010 years and based on these, the author selects eight natural and socio-economic indexes, and takes districts as the study unit to calculate the driving force indexes with the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, and makes the spatial-division thematic maps of the driving forces which cause the land-use change in this region base on GIS. The results show that in Qingdao the land-use types which have the largest change rate is residential area and mining sites, followed by the unused land, water and cultivated land, and the garden plot is the smallest. There is a decreasing of cultivated land and unused land while other types have increased; because of a large base number, cultivated land reduces most among all land-use types. There exists a big spatial difference among these driving forces for land-use change. According the driving force indexes we divided them into four regions.

Abstract: The Former German Governor’s Residence in Qingdao was by far the most spectacular building in residential architectures on the German Colonial period. This article studied architectural art of the Former German Governor’s Residence from architectural plan layout, building facades decorating, building structures and materials, and made these three respects compare with the Chinese traditional residential architecture. The architectural plan layout was in common about separate house on the German Colonial period, it inherited the German romantic style of the traditional residential buildings since the 16th century; its facades kept different and changeful; but primary and secondary clear, gorgeous, lively and dignified. The architectural structure was brick stone and wood hybrid construction. In this eclectic style of the building could be seen Germany was one of the birthplaces of the Modern Movement, and it had begun to explore using modern materials and new technologies, but its architectural forms was still the old form.

Abstract: This paper analyzes the similarities and differences of the Hangzhou Zhong shan Road and the Qingdao Zhong shan Road. They are all the symbol of political power and the commercial center in their respective cities. Due to the development of cities, they are both in the decline stage. Analyzing the success and failure of two historical district by using the theory of The Aesthetic Townscape and finding the problems of Qingdao Zhong shan road by comparing two reconstructions of historic districts.
