Abstract: Magnesium components offer an enormous potential to achieve considerable weight savings in the automotive industry. As with any innovative construction material, (e.g. carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer, ultra-high-strength steel) a rigid quality management system needs to be established along the supply chain. For this purpose, the concept of the supply chain quality management is to be introduced for the special case of magnesium components, using the example of the magnesium strip production. By the implementation of the widespread ISO 9001 norm, opportunities can be leveraged by both the creation of upstream, downstream linkages and the defined internal processes to achieve the required and stable quality for the automotive industry. The paper suggests procedures and instructions for process control during the magnesium strip production according to the twin-roll casting technology, giving feedback to the respective production system to avoid insufficient quality. The results serve as a basis for the development of all stages up to the assembly of magnesium components. The individual process stages dependent on the manufacturer should be considered during the procedure.

Abstract: This article discusses the induction heating application features in metallurgical industry for previously unused objects, such as wire coils and wire rod bundles. The analysis of international trends and a forecast of the induction heating application shows a steady expansion of the induction technologies in the metallurgical industry. The article considers the advantages of induction heating in comparison to other competitive technologies. Heat treatment in electrotechnological induction plants is determined by the interconnected electric and thermophysical processes taking place in them, the complex nature of the internal heat sources distribution, the dependence of the distribution pattern of the induction plant on the temperature of the products being processed. It is shown that the investigation results of the induction heating method influence the temperature and time factors in the formation of the structure, the increase in the uniformity of heating, and the quality of the heat treatment of steel wire and wire rod buntle, taking into account the stated technological task. The efficiency estimation of application of medium and high-frequency induction heating of steel wire of various diameters is given. Evaluation of the efficiency improving of the induction heating device, when the heat treatment simultaneous multiple strands of steel wire of equal diameter, united in a bundle, is given.

Abstract: Influence of gas distribution uniformity in the channels of air-gas paths on efficiency and quality of metals cutting is noted for plasmatrons of various updating. It is shown, that application of gas-dynamic filters promotes efficiency and quality of plasmatrons with the one-line scheme of air-gas pathswork. The technique for estimation of gas distribution uniformity in the channels of metal-cutting plasmatron is presented.

Abstract: At present, the solution of not only the tactical tasks of the structure technical state preserving but also the strategic tasks of the erected and existing structures quality improving in order to develop the road and transport network in the development perspective lines is topical. The construction organization of the bridge structures is a complex process; it requires the performing work careful monitoring. The approach based on the information modeling used by construction participants, including the construction control service, is proposed in this paper. The article is devoted to the methodology that allows improving the document circulation procedure organization process efficiency and coordinating changes, due to the introduction of the information modeling technology, which influences on the building construction duration. The database is created to introduce the necessary data into the information model of the bridge structure, as well as the result parameters of the interaction with the model. The data on the practical implementation of the proposed approach on the example of the bridge construction object is presented; the analysis is made compared with the established process of construction production organization, and the advantages of the first one are fixed.

Abstract: In the railway sector, on the prototyping phase of product made by composite materials, it is necessary the implementation of a strict quality control using the instrument First Article Inspection (FAI). In this paper some of the most important steps in quality control implementation of FAI for composite parts at the prototyping parts made of composite materials in the railway field are presented. Thus, the necessary steps for developing FAI and the process diagram are given. Also, the method FMEA process is presented in order to eliminate the risks of errors and defects during the development of the technological process for obtaining the composite piece.

Abstract: The paper aims an experimental study of the quality of composite materials based on the coefficient of uniformity, an indicator that appreciates the influence of different factors on their mechanical behavior. For the experiment, composite plates having an epoxy resin matrix and various types of reinforcement were made. Each plate is made up of five layers of fabric. These plates take into account two factors of influence, the number of layers with discontinuities and the size of the discontinuity. Then a bifactorial dispersion analysis is made that can differentiate the influences of the two factors.

Abstract: Recent years have highly been productive in terms of development of both conventional machining technology, but in workpiece surfaces finishing, as well. The overall trend is heading towards increasing accuracy and quality of the manufactured components for machinery and equipment. In a range of finishing abrasive technologies there has been known the introduction of microcrystalline corundum, modification of tools with these abrasive grains, including sintered tools. This development continues and the latest trend is the development of pyramidal grain the Cubitron II. How individual grains behave during operation and how we can use their properties in comparison to classic white corundum still remains complicated matter. The behaviour of selected abrasives has been described in the submitted article.

Abstract: We propose the technique of guaranteed quality wear resistant plasma coatings of high-chromium powder material. The appropriate system of engineering models had to be designed in order to obtain the summarized results, as well as to manage the parameters of quality indicators at all stages of the technological processing procedure. Thus, surface roughness was accepted as a criterion in the model development at the stage of preliminary mechanical processing before spraying coatings. The model of plasma coating process proper takes into account the influence of spraying on the main quality indicators, such as adhesive strength, porosity, and the level of residual stresses. The engineering model of finish abrasive grinding is based on ensuring the desired value of the surface roughness parameter provided the geometric and dimensional accuracy of details was achieved.

Abstract: Existing methods of rail welding, which are enable to get continuous welded rail track, are observed in this article. Analysis of existing welding methods allows considering an issue of continuous rail track in detail. Metallurgical and welding technologies of rail welding and also process technologies reducing aftereffects of temperature exposure are important factors determining the quality and reliability of the continuous rail track. Analysis of the existing methods of rail welding enable to find the research line for solving this problem.
