Abstract: It is proposed to use an algorithm for synthesis of composite products with the help of classical optimal control theory, it includes: technical formulation of the problem; development the criteria for optimization; construction mathematical model of the object as a set of partial models. Optimization method is determined after a complete formalization of the problem of synthesizing. It is provided for the possibility of adjusting and simplifying of mathematical problem and its individual elements. Clarification of the formulated technical problem is realized after solving mathematical problem, and iterative process can be repeated until the specified accuracy. It is shown that the synthesis of the material is to convert the object from an initial to a final state under the assumed admissible controls and accepted quality criteria. The approach is illustrated by development of composite materials for radiation protection as multi-purpose complex systems with adjustable characteristics (confirmed the efficiency of the proposed design principles).

Abstract: Structural material composition determine its structure not ambiguously. The physical and chemical nature of the linkage elements and materials of its parts act on the construction material structure and the final properties. The study of this connection in materials using the methods of physical and chemical analysis is based on the detection and measurement of continuous external influences and averaged thermal response. However, to control internal processes in the contact zones at the phase boundaries and structural elements not enough. In order to effectively control the quality of the construction material was found the solution to implement a comprehensive by the formation of a set of two alternative methods, in the form of a scanning thermal analyzer and a device for the rated thermal activation combine substances.

Abstract: Quality management in projects includes the processes necessary for providing the fact that the project satisfies the necessities it had been accomplished for. The quality planning function must remain present throughout the project life cycle. The quality assurance in the projects can be defined as part of quality management in projects that provide confidence that the requirements relating to the quality of the activities carried out in the project will be met. We propose a model in the work for the implementation of the quality assurance process at every stage of a project, from project idea to project results. The proposed model, called PDP/PIP (project definition process/ project implementation process) is described as an application for a project machinery industry standard tools. The outcome of the project quality assurance is a quality improvement plan. This represents a document which is specified actions designed to raise the efficiency of quality management processes in projects and quality of results of the project.

Abstract: The paper presents a frame for applying the core tools for managing the production of automotive parts, supplied to the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). Those core tools and another quality management tools and procedures are required to be applied by the automotive customers, according with the OEM’s requirements. The requirements in discussion are condensed within the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documentation. The study presents a way for starting the design and implementation of such a procedure for a tier 1 automotive supplier, according with the appropriate various Customer Specific Requirements (CSR). The study is useful especially for those ones that supply simultaneous for several global automotive OEM (BMW, Chrysler, Fiat Group Automobili, Ford Motor, General Motors, PSA Peugeot Citroen, Renault).

Abstract: The quality of data is recognized to be a key issue for the assets management in enterprises as data is the foundation of any decision making process. Recent research work has established that the quality of data is highly dependent on the knowledge one has on the socio-technical system being considered. Three modes of knowledge have been identified: knowing what, knowing how and knowing why. In this paper we focus on how to manage these modes of knowledge in durable socio-technical systems to enhance the data quality face to technological progress and employees turnover. We believe that an organization based on ISO 9001 international standard can provide a valuable framework to provide the data quality needed to an efficient decision making process. This framework has been applied to design the data quality management system within a high education socio-technical system. The most important benefits that have been noticed are: 1) a shared vision on the external clients of the system with a positive impact on the definition of the strategy and the objectives of the system and 2) a deep understanding of the data client-supplier relationship inside the socio-technical system. A direct consequence of these achievements was the increasing knowledge on “know-what” data to collect, “know-why” to collect that data and “know-how” to collect it.

Abstract: The paper presents the results of a study concerning the use of the Ishikawa diagram in analyzing the causes that determine a non-quality problem in the operation of a automotive. The studied problem was “the pressure loss on the high pressure branch in the diesel supply system of the COMMON RAIL motor”. All the possible, main and secondary causes that could generate the studied problem were identified. We determined many possible causes and potential sub-causes and we grouped them into three main causes of the defect: a) causes determined by errors of fabrication/ manufacturing of system components; b) causes determined by faulty exploitation of the automotive; c) causes determined by inappropriate service. We regrouped all the secondary causes in categories of M type and there resulted: 5 categories of secondary causes of repairs in Service which included the use of spare parts with manufacturing errors, conventionally noted MS (Man-service, Methods-service, Materials-service, Machines-service, Environment-service);2 categories of secondary causes due to the operating mode of the motor car, conventionally noted ME (Materials-exploitation, Man-exploitation). All causes and secondary causes described a new Ishikawa diagram, model named in the paper 5MS + 2ME. This diagram performed in a detailed form is presented in the paper.

Abstract: Single-sided nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is a powerful tool to evaluate building-material properties such as layer thickness, moisture content, and ageing. Due to its simple setup, it is potentially applicable on site. It is non-invasive with a high depth resolution and makes a number of parameters for planning and executing the rehabilitation of buildings as well as for quality assurance easy accessible. In this paper, we focus on the quality assurance of a sprayed polymer-concrete (SPC), which was recently developed by Massenberg GmbH and the Institute of Building Materials Research (ibac) for the repair of sewage systems. Single-sided NMR was used to access curing time of the epoxy binder, binder content, layer thickness, and diffusion of acids through the SPC. However, single-sided NMR measurements only give relative values, so calibrations are given where required. While single-sided NMR shows great potential and can be used in various further applications, limitations of resolution, depth and measurement time need to be considered.

Abstract: Fabrication in shipbuilding faces important requirements from the quality point of view, due to potential risks specific to the exploitation of the naval structures. Quality Management becomes important tool to reduce the susceptibility to failure of different components of the structures. Specific processes are involved in shipbuilding and the Quality Management should address all of them. Inspection Test Plan (ITP) should be the first step of the Quality Management and that step is previous to any action related to fabrication. Sometimes, that step is necessary to be done even before the design of the naval structure. The most important processes which are required to answer to the ITP are welding, testing of welds, treating distortions and painting. For each of them, qualification of personnel, qualification of the involved procedures, qualifications of the materials and consumables should be evaluated. Operational procedures for every step of the fabrication and for auxiliary operations should be elaborated, discussed and approved by the Quality Manager.
