Abstract: Analyzing the active power loss of reactive power compensation device under normal reactive power output status and its influence factors and metering the active power loss of the reactor in the 500kV substation and the capacitor in the 220kV substation, concluding that the active power meter had the influencing factors of forward and reverse active and putting forward the assessment requirements for the running reactive power compensation device by analyzing the site calibration data of metering device.

Abstract: This paper introduces a kind of low-voltage dynamic reactive power compensation technology which is applied in intelligent industrial park. The system scheme, working principle, technical feature of the DCS-KB-2100 type low voltage power dynamic compensation device is recommended. According to the application result, the low voltage reactive power compensation technology has been greatly improved power quality, improve the power factor of the power grid. The advancement and stability of the low voltage reactive power dynamic compensation technology is verified. In the process of enterprise production, it gives full play to the role of energy saving and consumption reducing, points out the direction on the technological innovation of the industrial park electricity intellectualization, and provides a reliable technical support.

Abstract: Nowadays, unbalanced loads or nonlinear loads produce a bad effect on the power quality of utility mains. Also, it is necessary for reactive power to be compensated because the most of industrial loads is inductive and make a lagging displacement power factor. Reactive power compensation utilizing STATCOM is one of the most important methods to improve power quality. In this paper, the technical feature of STATCOM is introduced and then a comparison with SVC is made. The effect of STATCOM on static voltage stability in power systems has been studied. Based on PSD-BPA software, effect of STATCOM is determined. Static voltage stability margin enhancement using STATCOM and SVC is compared in the modified IEEE 14-bus test system. Test results show very encouraging result.

Abstract: With the development of high voltage long distance transmission and expansion of the grid, continuous reactive power compensation devices, such as controllable reactor, become more and more important. This paper describes the design and prototype test of a high leakage reactance transformer-based high temperature superconducting controllable reactor (HLRT-HTSCR). Characteristics test results show the excellent impedance regulation characteristic of the prototype. DC critical current test of the superconducting winding shows that attention should be paid to the critical current of superconducting coil, avoiding over-current condition. This paper reveals the characteristics of HLRT-HTSCR by experiment, and will be of important practical significance to promote its development.

Abstract: Nowadays the number of non linear loads in power systems is increasing dramatically. These non linear loads inject harmonic currents and voltage which makes the supply currents non-sinusoidal. These harmonics are eliminated via an active power filter. The reference currents are generated by shunt active filter which is provided to compensate harmonic currents demanded by the load. Different current control strategies are implemented to improve the performance of shunt active power filter. These techniques are useful in making the supply currents sinusoidal. The performance of the current control techniques are different from each other. The %THD can be reduced with the aid of shunt active power filter. In this paper, different current control schemes are analyzed and their outputs are compared to determine the effectiveness. The most effective current controller generates less %THD. The power quality of the system is improved with the reduction of %THD. The different current controllers which are compared in this paper are GA controller and PI-VPI controller.Under analysis, the PI-VPI controller is found to be effective.

Abstract: It has great significance for the capacitor reactive power compensation device to improve the quality of the power system voltage and reduce the line loss. This paper proposes a reactive power compensation measurement and control device scheme that integrates reactive power compensation with microcomputer protection function, it also can cover the shortage of the microcomputer relay protection of parallel capacitor reactive power compensation system, the whole system is linked by the RS485 bus. The paper mainly introduces the hardware design around the STM32 series micro controller. And then introduce the design of the software on main programming algorithm of parameter measurement, communication protocol and capacitor protection configuration and the criterion of the major programming algorithm.

Abstract: This paper introduced a new modular multi-level converter (MMC), which could enhance the voltage and power level by sub-converter modules in series and was easy to extend to any level of output. Its structure and working mechanism were described. By analyzing the performance of STATCOM based on MMC working conditions in the reactive power compensation, this paper studied compensation control theory in reactive changing conditions. To obtain compensation control response speed faster and better compensation effect, a compensation control strategy was proposed based on direct current control mode. The simulation results show the strategy has a better tracking precision and response speed for the reactive power compensation.

Abstract: With the rapid economic development in Liaoning Province, very rapid growth in electricity load, especially steel and fused magnesium commercial power. After the implementation of TOU price, Liaoning power grid voltage fluctuation is increased by that some enterprises were concentrated in low hours of electricity. Some power users were affected by lacking the means of dynamic reactive power. To point the necessity of application of the SVC, the existing of 66kV and 220kV grid power quality status are analyzed and simulated. The SVC compensation capacity and filter parameters are systematically design, after the transformation of the system and the simulation proved that the grid can achieve the design requirements.
