Abstract: System engineering methods are often used to design complex systems like airplanes. However, this method is also useful to propose solutions to redesign logistics systems such as warehouses and transport systems. This paper will apply system engineering in analyzing the late order problem at a pesticide company, thereby surveying stakeholders needs for warehouse re-designing. The functional analysis in the warehouse will be carried out in the concept analysis section to propose warehouse’s layout redesign alternatives that based on the demand of storage capacity and throughput. The authors also used the AHP method to select the final design layout. The detailed design section builds the operation process for the warehouse as well as the codification for commodity storage slots along with these tables forms that support for warehouse management. These solutions increase warehouse performance as well as the utilization in warehouses when applied in practice. Therefore, the system engineering method should be used in warehouse’s redesign

Abstract: In this paper, many kinds of wool fabrics are listed, main factors effected wool fabric appearance and the possibility to redesign are discussed. By analyzing famous designers’ innovative works, some principles for wool fabric are found. Several innovative express methods that suits for wool fabric, such as texture reconstructing ,silhouette building, additional decorating ,combining and crocheting and so on are the emphasis of this study . All of these will provide glorious inspirations for fashion designers.

Abstract: The article considers the problem of great amount of communal apartments in Saint-Petersburg. There are several types of a settling program. One of the types is considered in this project, when the apartments in the old houses are purchased by people with high incomes who are able to resettle communal apartments. This project considered apartment in the Meltzer’s apartment house. Mainly practical things were developed, like a rational replan of the initial project, a certain amount of rooms with determined purposes, architectural and planning division of the apartment into guest and personal zones. As a result of reconstruction, initial compartment areas are recovered by combining the later created rooms. Long and narrow corridors converted into spacious halls.

Abstract: This article covers an applied study on the computer-aided engineering analysis of the damage occurring in the disc bearing profiles of a disc harrow used in the agricultural sector and redesigning the existing structure. The damage to the machine had occurred in the form of deformation of the plastic structure in the disk-bearing profiles. In order to examine the damage, to collect information on the stress values causing the damage and to re-arrange the damaged design, system construction was modeled with CATIA and structural stress analysis was performed. Results of finite element stress analysis revealed weak regions of the construction under the variable dynamic loading, and the strength with inadequate and improper distribution was determined. Design goals aiming to improve present design were defined in order to prevent the occurrence of damage, and a design meeting these objectives was obtained. The existing system profiles and links were re-arranged in accordance with this design. Then, an experimental analysis consisting of 250 hours of operation was also performed with these new arrangements. No damage occurrence was observed in the new design, so the validity of the design was confirmed.

Abstract: Under the circumstance of the increasing scarcity of social energy, people pay more and more attention to environmental and ecological problems, which reflects in the product recycling or reusing in design. The traditional consumption concept of "Make the Best Use of Everything” is consistent with the idea of green design. This paper tries to explore the value of the traditional thought of thrift in the new era by example, and to provide support for the green design ideas for the future.

Abstract: Old communities suffer increasing crime rates in China. The original environment layout can not meet the needs of living safety and needs redesign for crime prevention. The theory of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design or CPTED is based on one simple idea that crime results partly from the opportunities presented by physical environment. It is possible to alter the physical environment so that crime is less likely to occur. This paper focuses on CPTED strategies applied to a typical Chinese community for neighborhood renewal. The physical environment problems associated with community crime and fear of crime are first identified. Four distinct ways to implement CPTED strategies are emphasized and discussed in detail individually in the research: community layout, traffic, landscaping and buildings. The paper ends with pending issues and a major lesson that CPTED must be tailored to the specific problems occurring in particular settings.

Abstract: In this paper, a method of using special shaped connection is proposed to redesign and optimize connection structure for improving manufacturing processing, enhancing equipment flexibility, and reducing parts costs on the basic of satisfying mechanical reliability. First, requirements of redesign and optimization process are addressed. Then an applied case is presented: 4-polygon shaped connection replacing involute spline connection in driving system. The result shows that the redesign and optimum structural demonstrate significantly the effectiveness.

Abstract: The article deals with the problems that originated at the testing of electromotors after their assembling. The laser inspection station for several types of electromotors was built as the part of assembly line for mass production of electromotors. At the testing, relatively frequent failures of the station were observed. As the inspection method for problems definition was used the vibrodiagnostics. It showed that errors were caused by the deficient fixing of motors during the testing. On the bases of vibration analyses results it was realized the station frame strengthening and so the improvement of operating mode of station.

Abstract: Wheelchair is an important equipment to assist people with lower body disability to move from one place to another. The aim of this research is to redesigning manual wheelchair for disabled children using anthropometry data and biomechanical analysis. Anthropometry data is used to determine the dimensions of the wheelchair, while the biomechanical analysis is used to compare the performance of the existing and proposed design. This research resulted a new design which gives more comfort to the users and used a lever mechanism to move the wheelchair. The results of biomechanical analysis show that the force to move the proposed wheelchair is larger than the existing one. It makes more loads are given to the elbow and shoulder of the users. Better performance is shown by the proposed design in the reaction force in neck and lumbar which will reduce the complaining pain of the users in their back.
