Abstract: Construction investments are sensitive to time and cost overruns. Delay and cost escalation are considered two threats to project success. The project objective is to develop a model to predict project cost and duration based on historical data of similar projects. Statistical regression models are developed using real data of building projects. The methodology is adopted in 3 steps: a) Data collection b) Statistical analysis using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) software c) Interpretation of results. The real data of cost and duration of 51 building projects have been collected. In statistics, regression analysis is a statistical process for estimating the relationships among variables. It includes many techniques for modelling and analyzing several variables, when the focus is on the relationship between a dependent variable and one or more independent variables. The analysis is done using SPSS developed by IBM Corporation. The Regression models have been developed using the data collected from Noel Builders, Kakkanad, Ernakulam to predict the project cost and duration. The developed models are validated using split sample approach. The model outputs can be used by project managers in the planning phase to validate the scheduled critical path time and project budget.

Abstract: New manufacturing system paradigms have been introduced in isolated discussions among academician in corresponds to the rapid changes of business environment towards manufacturing sustainability. However, the relationships among the introduced manufacturing systems have never been discussed. Motivated with the manufacturing system paradigms, it is possible to formulate a concept of manufacturing system that is able to fit in any changes of business environment. Thus, the objective of this paper is to analyse the compatibility of fitness components between human fitness system and manufacturing system. The analysis was done through an analogical study of human fitness components which was later compared to the concept of the existing manufacturing systems such as the Lean Manufacturing, Agile Manufacturing, and Reconfigurable Manufacturing, etc. In addition, relationships between the fitness components were clarified through a literature study. Result of the study indicates that the components of human fitness system were compatible with the concept of existing manufacturing systems. As a conclusion, the components of human fitness system can be adopted as fitness components in developing a concept of Fit Manufacturing system that enables manufacturing sustainability.

Abstract: The relationship between environmental quality and energy consumption has become more and more important. This paper firstly develops the index for China’s comprehensive environmental quality evaluation, and employs spss17.0 to conduct factorial analysis and comprehensive analysis on the condition of China’s comprehensive environmental quality between 1995 and 2012. By using Eviews6.0 to build a regression model for China’s environmental quality and energy consumption and exercising stationary test and Granger causality test, this paper also affirms the co-integration relationship between environmental quality and energy consumption in China. Among all energy sources, coal consumption has the closest relationship with environmental quality, and oil and natural gas consumptions are in the 2nd and 3rd place. In the last part, this paper proposes countermeasures and suggestions like optimizing industrial structure, adjusting energy structure and improving technologies in energy utilization.

Abstract: The paper is concerned with the functional scheme and the basic equipment of a thermal station. Parameters requiring control in the continuous process of the heat transfer medium production and its delivery to the consumer are listed. The authors show the technological relationship between water heating conditions and the thermal station controlled electric drives providing the predetermined process conditions. Functional relations determining the balance of water flow and water pressure of the thermal station and the consumer as well as the relation of water flow and temperature of the hot water boiler are given. The functional scheme of control system for the thermal station output parameters and the block scheme of the local control systems of the heat and water balance are shown. The principles of process parameters control are justified.

Abstract: The publication deals with the test equipment for measuring properties of conveyor belts of pipe conveyor. The device was designed with the aim of setting tension force and measuring the contact forces at positions which correspond to positions of idlers at hexagonal idler housing of pipe conveyor. Contribution gives an overview of experimentally obtained statistics, relations and relationships. Presented several results of analyses focused on potential context between the information brought by experiments and practical application.

Abstract: Flash point and boiling point are the important physical property of the flammable liquids, and are important parameters to evaluate their combustion behavior. In this study, as series of measurement of two mono compound fuels (N-decane and N-hexanol) and two mixture compound fuels (0# diesel and Jet A) at different pressure were carried out by using the flash point (open-closed cup) and boiling point measuring apparatus in an altitude chamber at different sub-atmospheric pressures at 35 KPa, 45 KPa, 55 KPa, 65 KPa, 75 KPa, 85 KPa, 95 KPa and 101 KPa were conducted. Based on the theoretical formula between the flash point (TF) and the boiling point (TB) and the atmosphere pressure, the relationship between TB and TF has been derived. The experiment results and the theoretical formula all show that the flash point is in linear relationship with the boiling point. The results can provide a more scientific insight into the production, storage, transport and use of fuel and the safety design in aircraft fuel tank.

Abstract: With the China's rural social and economic development, great changes in the aspect of living level have taken place. But meanwhile, in the course of economic development, a great number of environmental costs have been invested in the vast rural areas, which have restricted the development of agricultural economy. We systematically study the existing major environmental problem of rural environmental protection in the process of new socialist countryside construction. Then policy and suggestions was proposed so as to materialize the sustainable development of rural regional economy and society. Abstract: The coal industry belongs to the energy industry of the mainstream, the use of coal in a wide range, the main applications of combustion. However, the coal contains large amounts of sulfur, in combustion process, encountered the incomplete combustion will produce large amounts of sulfur dioxide, serious impact on the natural environment. The coal desulfurization technology can largely reduce this pollution, green chemistry is in the desulfurization technology is established on the basis of a concept. This article focuses on the discussion about coal desulfurization and its relationship to green chemistry.
