Abstract: The construction industry is one of the important environment-polluting industries in global. Aims at the present “short-lived” phenomenon of existing building in China, This paper firstly introduced the concept of Embodied Environment Effect Factor (EEEF) and on the platform of this concept; the whole life cycle EEEF value is calculated. The result shows that constantly updated and reuse to extend the life of the building in its life cycle, reducing the probability of demolition and reconstruction, will be an effective means to reduce resource consumption and environmental damage.

Abstract: As a historically famous city, Shenyang boasts of a wealth of industrial heritage which, however, is suffering destructions. Based on the introduction to the general situation and the characteristics of the industrial heritage and environment in Shenyang, this paper proposes the specific measures and approaches to protecting and reusing industrial heritage and environment with a view to intensifying the efforts in protection. The specific measures and approaches includes two fields: Protection and conservation(overall protection and conservation, partial protection and conservation, and components retention); and Reuse and re-creation(an industrial museum to be built in Shenyang, a gallery of industrial culture to be built, factory building with large span to be rebuilt into store, supermarket, gym or theater, some normal factory buildings to be rebuilt into apartment , hotel or office buildings, and the structure with special form can be transformed into amusement facilities in park and city landmarks).

Abstract: Reuse the electric vehicle batteries as a means of battery storage, could extend the battery life cycle. In order to improve the battery charge and discharge balance, we introduce and compare two optimized classification methods. The introduction of battery storage system in electric vehicle charging station could solve peak shaving, power quality and emergency charging effectively

Abstract: Knowledge reuse is of great significance for enterprises which rely mainly on new product development or design. For reusing knowledge, knowledge component is a feasible and efficient method. However, the implementation of knowledge component is still a new field to be researched. In this paper, a B/S-based multi-server framework to support knowledge component implementation was proposed. In the framework, a B/S-based knowledge component operating structure was introduced to make it easier for the product designers or developers to use the knowledge component. In order to reduce the computing time and alleviate the workload of the server-side, a multi-server mode was designed to separate the knowledge component operating process into three tiers (data tier, logic tier and computing tier). To improve the utilization of the limited computational resource, a real-time scheduling scheme was proposed to allocate the application software service to dynamic requests. Testing results proves that this framework is feasible and can help the designers reuse the existing knowledge rapidly. This framework will be significantly helpful to those enterprises interested in unlocking the potential of design knowledge reuse.

Abstract: To promote the reuse of parts for sustainable society, estimation of deterioration of reused parts is required. For that purpose, we propose a simulation for estimating deterioration of parts that takes into consideration deviation of load caused by deviation of part shape. Preliminary results of the simulation are shown.

Abstract: Government price control departments must supervise charges of medical services (CMS) and judge whether hospital charges violate the rules. At present, it is still manual operation to supervise CMS. There are heterogeneous data formats and nonstandard name record if we supervise CMS by using the computer. And it is unable to satisfy the customers frequently changeable request and so on. In view of this, the article proposed a solution of hospital price checking system, which adopts component-based way during design process and combines the computer supervise with the artificial auxiliary determination to remedy the defect of machine determination inaccurate. Finally in the movement process the system can react rapidly. The match precision was high, and the processing speed is quick and so on.

Abstract: A novel strain, Bacillus fusiformis CGMCC1347, was utilized successfully to transform isoeugenol to vanillin and the product inhibition could be well avoided by using immobilized cells in the isoeugenol/aqueous biphasic system. The Bacillus fusiformis CGMCC1347 cells were entrapped into sodium alginate under conditions of 2.5% sodium alginate, 10% cells and 0.1 mol l-1 CaCl2. The optimum pH for free cells and immobilized cells were 4.0 and 3.5, respectively, and the optimum reaction temperature for both free and immobilized cells was 37 °C. The pH stabilities of free cells and immobilized cells were good at all investigated pH levels. For thermal stability, free cells were stable at 50°C60°C and the immobilized cells were stable at 50°C 80°C. The half-life of the immobilized cells was more than 25 d, comparing with less than 14 d for the free cells at 4°C.

Abstract: This research project accomplished a study on the technical feasibility of recycling industrial solid waste generated by the discharge of casting sand agglomeration with clay and blast furnace slag. For this, the plan proposed a methodology that initially establishes a process of solid waste encapsulation, by using solidification/stabilization technique on Portland cement matrices, in which the residuals act as small and large aggregates on the composition of concrete, and later it presents the possibility of using this concrete in the manufacture of concrete pieces (concrete blocks) for paving. The results obtained in this research achieved the objective set with great success, regarding the manufacturing of concrete pieces (blocks) for paving urban roads, whenever there is special vehicle traffic or demands capable of producing accentuated abrasion effects (surpassing the 50 MPa required by the regulation), which probes the technical practicability of using waste from sand casting agglomeration with clay and blast furnace slag used in this study, unlocking usage possibilities for construction.

Abstract: The proportion of plastic components in automobiles has increased over past few decades. With the pressure of legislation on treatment of end-of-life vehicles (ELVs) and economical and environmental concerns, the management of plastic scrap in ELVs is becoming an important issue. This paper reviewed utilization of plastics in automobile production and traditional management of components from ELVs, with introduction of new legislation problems have been identified in the recycling of plastic from ELVs. Some examples of closed-loop recycling of plastic automobile parts are presented, and the potentials of using recycled plastics in automobile production are also discussed.

Abstract: The paper analyses the design practice activities of protecting, changing and reusing the domestic and overseas historic buildings in origin. It analyzes the method of changing and reusing historic buildings by using specific cases: Beijing 798 Factory, Wuxi North Door Art Center, and the National Industry and Commerce Museum. Finally, it proposes that historic buildings should be changed and reused by sustainable and reasonable ways according to the cultural values, building features of themselves, and the city demands.
