Abstract: A set of theoretical and experimental studies showing the promising application of devices with the rotating electromagnetic field in the technology of processing sludge wastes of metal production is presented in the paper. Regularities of magneto-vibrational layer formation in those devices and parameters of its energy state control are disclosed. There has also a model of agglomerate destruction in the magneto-vibrational layer been proposed, which establishes a connection of agglomerate particle sizes with the strength of magnetic field induction required for its destruction. The results of studies of the process of ferromagnetic particle grinding are presented, factors affecting the degree of grinding are determined. The possibility of forming an ultradisperse fraction during grinding in the rotating electromagnetic field has been experimentally proved. The effect of porousness on the degree of ferromagnetic particle grinding is shown.

Abstract: Effect of rotating electromagnetic field on the conductivity of aqueous NaCl solution was investigated by experiments. NaCl solution was circulated at a constant flow rate in the flow loop with a rotating-electromagnetic generating device for a period of time. Then conductivity of NaCl solution was measured at different NaCl solution contractions and rotating electromagnetic fields. Simultaneously, the conductivity was determined for NaCl solution untreated magnetically, as a reference. It was found that the rotating electromagnetic field influenced conductivity of aqueous NaCl solution and made it increased. The mechanism of the effect of the rotating electromagnetic field on conductivity of NaCl solution was also discussed.

Abstract: Swirling flow in an immersion nozzle is effective on improving quality of casting block and casting speed in continuous casting process of steel. However, a refractory swirl blade installed in the nozzle is liable to cause clogging, which limit the application of the process. In this study a new process is proposed, that is a rotating electromagnetic field is set up around an immersion nozzle to induce a swirling flow in it by Lorentz force. New types of swirling flow electromagnetic generator are proposed and the effects of the structure of the generator, the coil current intensity and frequency on the magnetic field and on the flow field in the immersion nozzle are numerically analyzed.

Abstract: In the present, by using rotating electromagnetic field (REMF) equipment, the effects of REMF for crystal growth processes in cast ZA27 alloy were investigated. It was found that the growth of the primary and secondary dendrites was restrained by alternative REMF and solidification microstructure transformed from dendrite to non-dendrite and globular crystal. The grain refinement effects were further improved with increasing of voltage.

Abstract: Magnetic abrasive finishing (MAF) is a processing technology using magnetic abrasive grain (MAG) under magnetic field to finish surface of workpiece. The magnetic fields used in MAF include permanent magnetic field and electromagnetic field. Two conditions must be taken into consideration in the finishing surface of workpiece. One is the sufficient cutting force; the other is the relative moving speed between MAG and workpiece. The principle of step-motor rotating magnetic field is used to produce rotating magnetic field (RMF) in this paper. RMF brings MAG to rotate and keeps workpiece immovable. Meanwhile, the coins vibrate within a definite angle range and reciprocate in axial direction so as to process the outer cylindrical surfaces. Yoke iron is made of two halves so that the coins for rotating magnetic field will be keyed to some section of heavy crankshaft, thus realizing cylindrical surface finishing on the heavy crankshaft. MAG are of importance to MAF . Six performance indexes related to MAG are suggested by studying on process parameters.
