Abstract: A low maintenance solar photovoltaic (PV) system is designed to supply power to households in rural areas that are not connected to grid utility. A 2kWh system was developed in a custom made rural cabin in Semenyih, Malaysia. The system was tested with varying loads by using a programmable load. The programmable load is used as a real time load to test the power usage and efficiency of the system. The results obtained shows that the proposed system can supply sufficient power to rural homes at low maintenance costs. The results obtained from this system can be used for implementation on rural homes without the need for backup power generators such as diesel generators.

Many of them, however, lost their original function: they are abandoned, unattended, they dilapidate. As such, they have become a problem issue for villages and the country in general. Abstract: Retail units built in Slovakia after the war have continued in the tradition of the functionalist pre-war production, where the emphasis was on the rational operation. Their solutions: disposition-spatial, material-construction and operational were determined by socio-economic and political conditions of a totalitarian regime. Directional management of construction has been focused on building-up sale units in central urban areas, in areas of newly-formed residential dwellings and conditions of rural settlements. Insufficient design capacities led to the creation of typified designs. Sterile cubic solutions conditioned by building-material base of society were reflected in the austere architectural embodiment. The transformation process of the nineties significantly affected overall the retail structure. The possibility of entrepreneurship and free pricing encouraged vendors to build large numbers of different small-scale devices. Globalization tendencies with an internationalization of trade and the free movement of capital caused by the turn of the century building of major shopping centers with super and hypermarkets. The building was focused initially to the remote large settlements and later to wider centers of towns. Architecture of modern suburban retail buildings is marked by utility of function, low-floor construction, high volume mass. By typological and material-constructional solution and by austere architectural expressions shall have the adjective "ephemeral".

Abstract: Water safety early warning is an essential and important basis for sustainable rural safe drinking water projects management and running. in this paper, we firstly analyzed the major influencing factors to water safety early warning. Secondly we establish a water supply safety early-warning assessment index system, and give classification standards for water supply safety early-warning assessment. Further, with the fuzzy assessment theory we propose a fuzzy warning assessment model approach. Finally the model and methods are used in Qingdao, and obtained t the rural water safety early-alarm level is ‘middle warning’.

Abstract: In most countries the low-carbon and ecological life is seem to be a sustainable way that considered both human development and environmental protection. Shanxi, a province depends on heavy-industry in China, always leads the nation in carbon emission though in a very bad natural environment. In order to achieve sustainable development, Shanxi should implement industrial transformation while proceeding new pattern urbanization. How to lead people to have a low-carbon and ecological life in planning ways The low-carbon and ecological practice in the renewing planning of Xincheng Town in Youyu, Shanxi may provide us some new ideas. When doing rural renewing planning, we should use low-carbon and ecological strategies. Consideration should be given to both macro level and micro level. Shanxi can still implement industrial transformation with low-carbon and ecological thinking to achieve the sustainable rural development.

Abstract: Shaoxing has used three water supply models, i.e. urban water supply network extension, township water factory centralized water supply, and mountain area scattered independent water supply, to improve the drinking water conditions for its 2.075 million rural dwellers. Nevertheless, there still exist problems in its water supply systems, such as difficulties in protecting water sources, small and scattered operating entities, and uneven water supply facilities and water qualities. This dissertation therefore brings forward countermeasures such as optimizing project planning and layout, implementing standardized renovation and improvement, practicing the most stringent water resources protection system, and establishing and improving the management system and testing network.
