Abstract: Air preheaters are used in thermal power plants to preheat combustion air before it enters the furnace by recovering and using waste heat from the flue gas that is supposed to be exhausted at the stack to reduce the work needed by the furnace to combust fuel and improve the boiler efficiency. Air preheater leakage is the bypassing of the cooler ambient air into the flue gas side, reducing the temperature needed to heat the heating elements which transfers the heat into the air side. This negatively impacts the heat transfer effectiveness of the air preheater and the overall thermal efficiency of the plant. This paper aims to review the effectiveness of the soft touch seals applied in a Ljungstrom Type Regenerative Air Preheater installed in a 455 MW (net) Coal-Fired Thermal Power Plant situated in Mauban, Quezon Province in the Philippines in reducing the air preheater leakage through calculations and analysis in compliance with the ASME Performance Test Code to ensure accuracy and repeatability.

Abstract: The paper introduces the results of research study aimed at sealing possibilities of cement-based substrates. The intention of the presented research is to verify whether the permanent and reliable seal in materials can be implemented even without additional surface treatment. The task is approached experimentally, using test procedures based on relevant European technical standards. The tested substrate is made up of glass-fiber reinforced concrete facade elements intended for the final cladding of buildings without any further surface treatment. The selected substrate is 13 mm thick, one test sample consist of two identical pieces of substrate connected by chosen sealant. A group of ten industrially-produced, commonly available sealants by three manufacturers is included in the experimental measurements. The research brought an answer to the question of the sealing possibilities of an unprocessed structures and also solved the issue of the most suitable type of sealant meant for this purpose.

Abstract: In order to ensure the medicinal efficacy and improve the production efficiency, design and production of a kind of microwave vacuum drying medicine extract new technical equipment. Through analyzing the principle of material characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine extract, drying, microwave vacuum drying, Design of microwave vacuum drying chamber, cylinder body, a door body, a material system. Based on the overall scheme, the main structure parameters were calculated, and the production of a set of test equipment, the dehydration rate test. The new process equipment efficiency, reduces the cost, the volume is greatly reduced, keep the efficacy, and has the functions of sterilization, especially suitable for the production of proprietary Chinese medicines industry.

Abstract: Building reconstruction is rather a broad term encapsulating the implementation of solutions to the unsatisfactory condition of various parts of a built structure, which includes the solution of issues concerning the penetration of undesired humidity in the liquid state through leaks in the building’s outer shell. This contribution deals with issues involved in the sealing of concrete elements in the outer shell structures of buildings using modern sealants. It involves the experimental testing of sealed joints using test samples fabricated from glass fibre reinforced concrete and fibre-cement facade cladding panels in combination with various commonly accessible sealants. The sealants were exposed to tensile stress under various environmental conditions, as well as cyclic stress. The results of the tests provide a comprehensive picture of sealants’ adhesion and cohesion with the test substrates and clearly show the suitability or unsuitability of their application on substrates with cement content.

Abstract: High pressure gas cylinder thread joint is the weak link in high pressure gas cylinders, The cylinders in use and the operating process, the main causes of cylinder screw thread failure is the improper preload. In this paper, cylindrical high-pressure cylinders threaded, connection for example, according to the bottleneck and the bottlevalve for high pressure gas cylinder structure, material and mechanical characteristics, establishing 3D solid model of the high-pressure cylinders connected by using the finite element software ANSYS, 3D model is applied to high pressure cylinders, thread connection analysis.

Abstract: In order to simulate the thermal influence on springback property of O-ring, based on elastic-plastic contact analysis method of finite element analysis (FEA), numerical simulation of compression-springback course of O-ring was carried out by ANSYS software. The results show that it causes a sharp decrease in the peak force applied on O-ring, corresponding to a decline on the contact stress distribution which may influence the seal ability of the O-ring. The simulation results are in good agreement with the experimental results.

Abstract: Gas sealing performance of metal seal ring directly affects the security and reliability of equipment operation. Gas static seals of W-ring is taken as a study object, based on the theory of rough surface contact model and the theory of gas average flow model in the rough surface gap, the gas sealing leakage model is established to analyze the relationship between the leakage and the sealing load and surface roughness parameters.

Abstract: The stress-strain state of impeller seal made of composite material a centrifugal pump under the thermal effects is investigated based on the classical theory of elasticity of an anisotropic body. Kinematic and static conditions of contact for mating surfaces of adjacent layers are considered ideal. Solution of the problem is obtained in axisymmetric. It is noted that the increase in temperature on the surface of the composite seal has a significant impact on its stress state.
