Abstract: According to the preliminary market research, to explore people's emotional appeal preferably for the design of electric bicycle charging station, the method of Kansei Engineering is applied to the research of its form design. Based on the existing theory of Kansei Engineering, this paper applies quantitative deductive method of Kansei Engineering, transform people’s kansei needs and image of electric bicycle charging station into formative elements of detailed design, for the sake of establishing the congruent relationship between customers’ kansei appeals and design elements of charging station, and providing reference value to form design of electric bicycle charging station.

Abstract: This paper illustrates the design methods of machine tools based on the theory of Kansei Engineering. General attitudes towards the machine tools are measured by the Semantic Differential Method, the mapping between the design elements and the cognitive image is established through the Orthogonal Experiments, and the specific element style that significantly results in a certain image as well as the order of contribution degree from design elements towards images are obtained. Finally, the effectiveness of this method is verified by designing practice of a pipe processing machine.

Abstract: Why are the product design of the Apple Inc. are so successful in the dog-eat-dog market One of the most important reasons is that the mental imageries of product user experience design of Apple Inc. are close to the user's expectant material mental imageries.In this study, we want to gain the main mental imageries of information product materials user experience design of the target users (18-28 years old university students or the recent graduates in the east of China) in the near future of the next 1-2 years. We used Culture Scan, Contextual Inquiry, Semantic Differential Method, and the Coordinate of Mental Imagery to study. We discovered that the main mental imageries of information product materials user experience design of the target users in the near future of the next 1-2 years are high-technological and fashionable. We built a bridge from the the material mental imagery of the user to the material mental imagery of the designer. The actual demand of the consumers could be more easily understood by the company.

Abstract: The user's preferences and views make a profound impaction on the public acceptance of the product. Both can be expressed through the study of product semantic. This article describes the application of semantic differential method to establishment and analysis the laptop bag products semantic space. Through the collection of 60 subjects’ evaluation of 8 laptop bags, the semantic universe is reduced to a collection of 25 adjectives semantic by using of semantic differential method. Semantic axis are defined the main component factor. The influence of subjects’ number in the semantic evaluation results is also studied. The establishment of the semantic space is the first step for introducing emotional performance in products design and interaction, which would increase the success probability of products. This statistical measurement help make decisions in terms of design expression.

Abstract: Proceeding from the industrial design, this paper proposed the concept of product form gene with combining the product form and product style, and researched on the extraction of product form gene based on constraint style. It explained how to express product form gene based on style constraints, and construct the description model of product style semantic. This paper using analytic hierarchy process and semantic differential method to extract product gene, and take the real example to illustrate and validate, thereby providing a certain methodology direction for extraction of product form gene.

Abstract: Based on users’ kansei image and kansei engineering theory, a method on product bionics form design is presented. Firstly, users’ kansei information about product and bionics objects is extracted from semantic differential method, which is the basic standard for determination of the best bionics object. Then by adopting clustering analysis and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation, the product form features and bionics objects’ main features are acquired and combined to design products. Finally, the optimal design is selected through comprehensive evaluation. As an example, case of intelligent electric rice cooker design indecates that this method is valid and practical.
