Abstract: The surfaces and hyperpatch models constructed by the NURBS-based approach provide an advantage of shape modification and have varying mesh-structure. No observations based on material distribution on the surface and hyperpatch models were done until now. The heterogeneous models of the NURBS surface and NURBS solid hyperpatch models were based on the Unevaluated models as per the Control-Point-Based modelling approach was followed. The material allocated gets interpolated over the surface and hyperpatch models. The material distribution does vary, and the effect of weight variation on material allocation does become significant for them.

Abstract: In this paper, we propose a new method for shape modification of NURBS curves. For a given NURBS curve, we modify its one or more weights so that the curve passes through the point specified in advance. We convert this into an optimization problem and solve it by genetic algorithm. The experimental results show the feasibility and validity of our method.

Abstract: A simple and effective combined subdivision surface’s modification method is proposed, which is realized by editing its curve network locally. After discussing the overlapping principles of Catmull-Clark subdivision and combined subdivision, a quick update method of the modified surface is given by building the difference curve network from the original curve network and the edited curve network and overlapping the mesh from the difference curve network to the mesh from the original curve network. This method is closely related with the features of combined subdivision, so it is simple and high efficiency. It is useful in the concept design of complex product.

Abstract: In this paper, the recent studies of our lab in Tsinghua University are reviewed in detail with regard to methods of preparing Nano-powders, Micron/Nano composite and Nanostructure surface; Ways to characterize the properties of Nano particle and Nano surface are summarized. And in addition, the industrial applications of powder technology are also introduced.
