Abstract: In this paper the response of a reinforced concrete slab to a time variable load is presented. The time course of loading is in the first phase defined by a linearly increasing function and in the second phase by a constant function. The response is solved by a modified method of matrix functions.

Abstract: considering the development of concrete silo structure in recent years and engineering characteristics of large reinforced concrete silo, construction processes and structures of concrete silos are classified and general construction technical system is formed through innovation of construction technique and process. The general construction technical system focuses on adjustable drawbar climbing formwork system, inside drawbar-free climbing formwork system and whole lifting and towing integrated climbing formwork system, is featured with integrated construction and has multiple technical units, which could be combined flexibly to adapt to certain requirements of different projects. This method not only has flexible process, but also possesses uniform construction technique and process.

Abstract: Silo structure has been widely used in the industries in China, such as chemical engineering, coal industry, light industry, fodder industry and grain industry. Nowadays, reinforced concrete silo structures have been the most general form. Due to the special features of silo structure, there have been some particular part such as baseboard and hopper. Meanwhile, the level of the baseboard is always high and the configuration of the hopper is complex. Therefore, a lot of construction difficulties and problems have been generated in the progress of silo construction. Based on practical engineering, a series of construction technologies for ultra-high baseboard and hopper of silo were proposed in this paper. With a review to the structure features of the ultra-high baseboard and hopper, an applicative formwork scheme was designed and carried out in the construction. By means of the proposed formwork scheme, some key problems were well solved and the whole engineering quality were ensured. And it has certain reference significance to the construction of this engineering.

Abstract: In this paper, by using complex variable function and conformal mapping technique, the author studies the stress concentration intensities of silo wall opening through predigesting the stress calculation of silo wall opening as a problem of plane calculation and obtains the stress concentration factor of opening. When simplified silo wall is subjected to in-plane tension or pressure, maximal stress concentration point around opening is at the corner of opening. this paper may provide some referenced value to the designers.

Abstract: Bucket elevators are devices for the vertical conveying of bulk materials. They can be found in many plants where silos are used. There are different designs of bucket elevators, whereby for the conveying of combustible bulk materials twin-leg bucket elevators are widely used. The conveyed bulk materials might be quite different, e.g. granulates, grains or pellets, which can contain more or less fine dust. The fine dust will be whirled up and dispersed by the moving buckets. Explosive dust/air mixtures can occur inside the elevator. Bucket elevators are frequently reported as causes of dust explosions [1, 2]. Depending on both the practical operating conditions and the explosion characteristics of the bulk material in many cases explosion protection by prevention of ignition sources are not sufficient to minimize the risk of a dust explosion. Therefore, additional explosion protection by design measures is required in order to limit the dangerous effects of a dust explosion. The technical rules or standards, however, which are available for the layout of explosion protection by design measures, e.g. explosion pressure venting or explosion suppression can not be used due to the specific geometry of bucket elevators. Because there was no sufficient data base to design explosion resistant bucket elevators in combination with explosion venting or explosion suppression, large scale tests were carried out on the test site of BGN and FSA in Kappelrodeck, Germany. In this paper the latest results and findings will be presented which can be used for the practical design of explosion venting and explosion suppression on bucket elevators in process industries.

Abstract: Risk management is specific to the organization and its external and internal context. In this paper risk management and some concepts focusing specifically on such plants for dusty, granular and combustible products were introduced. Some examples were presented here for practical uses, which can be applied in dusty and complicated surroundings.

Abstract: In this paper, through analyzing the differential element of silos wall suffering from axially symmetric load according to their actual working status, the author applies the theory of taking account of moment to getting silos internal forces and displacements ,and gives the differences in the calculation results gotten respectively using nonmoment theory and the theory of taking account of moment through an example. What to be thought, during the course of designing to code for design of reinforced concrete silos, is brought.

Abstract: Accidents of the cement manufacturers’ reinforced concrete silo structures frequently occurred currently in China, because of quality problems, causing enormous losses. The collapse status of a cement raw meal silo is investigated. Combined with the test results of the location and spacing of silo wall’s reinforcing bars, concrete strength, cracks and defects, the reasons for collapse of silo wall are analyzed and design recommendations for concrete silo structures are made. This can give reference to reinforced concrete silo structure design and construction in the future.

Abstract: In this paper, non-coherent prestressed steel stranded wire being introduced in one concrete silo model of 10m inner diameter is tensed at both ends. The prestress losses of wires are tested. Based on the tested result, the trend of prestress losses and prestressing wires strain is educed.

Abstract: Lateral pressure is a key parameter to silos’ design. It has an important effect on the safety and efficiency of silos. The lateral pressure ratios that recommended by some overseas design codes and literatures have been analyzed. These ratios didn’t take into account the elasticity of silo wall, one of which is 28% smaller than the measure value, but another goes up to super pressure ratio. A new lateral pressure ratio is derived by considering the elasticity of silo wall, which is relevant to Passion ratio of stored material and relative stiffness coefficient . The coefficient of usual metal silo varies from 0.01 to 0.2, so it has significance to consider the wall elasticity.
