Abstract: This work presents a systematic review to provide an overview of the possibilities for coupling, fabrication or embedding of electronics into textiles whilst assuring the capability of these products to meet the requirements of a sports modality. The development of smart wearables systems for sports based on textiles attracts more and more users – motivated by design, by technology, as well as by the expectation of increased performance. A bibliographic search was carried out using the following databases: Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore and Science Direct. This study includes 32 articles and discusses these in a new taxonomy with three dimensions: measured variable, types of feedback and applications. Of the 23 technologies surveyed, this review showed that these wearable systems are mainly used for vital signs monitoring and to provide feedback on the electrical activity of the heart, with sensors mostly placed in the chest. Usually, the technologies are externally attachable rather than embedded in the textile. We observed that the implementation of design as the process of development of e-textile products is still only scarcely present in these studies.

Abstract: The research is dedicated to microclimate regulatory clothes with an integrated electrical system, which also composes Peltier elements, and cooling function is based on the heat conductivity in solids. For development of the system and the clothes experiments are conducted to optimize the product microclimate regulatory function.

Abstract: The commercial systems using intelligent textiles that start to appear on the market perform physiological measurements such as body temperature, electrocardiogram, respiration rate, etc. and target sport and healthcare applications. Biochemical measurements of body fluids combined with available health monitoring technology will extend these systems by addressing important health and safety issues. BIOTEX, standing for Bio-sensing Textile for Health Management, is a European project, which aims at developing dedicated biochemical sensing techniques that can be integrated into textiles. Such a system would be a major breakthrough for personalized healthcare and would allow for the first time the monitoring of body fluids with sensors distributed in a textile substrate. The potential applications include isolated people, convalescents and patients with chronic diseases, sports performance assessment and training. The project is addressing several challenges, among which: sweat collection and delivery to the sensors, high sensitivity with a wearable system, wearability issues, sensor calibration and lack of research in sweat analysis.
