Abstract: Modeling and finite element analysis functions were combined in Solid Edge to optimize gear parameters. Gear parameters optimization objective and procedure in different conditions were summed up. A complete Excel file was created. An involute gear parametric model was established which was interlinking with the Excel file. And the model’s accuracy would not alter with the diameter’s change. The wizard software for gear drive design and parameter optimization was developed on platform of Solid Edge by Visual Basic tool. This application can guide users getting the initial parameters and optimizing the parameters by the circling method of diminishing parameters, analyzing the precise gear root stress with Femap Express module, and diminishing them again. Users can get a gear model which has a smaller diameter and smaller module and satisfies strength demands.

Abstract: This article has introduced the composition of the engineering machinery virtual designing and manufacturing system which is based on the microcomputer platform, introduced the implementation plan of the system and the key technology such as the development of general machinery part CAD system, movement simulation, finite element analysis, NC code automatically programming, Visible CAPP system based on Solid Edge platform, the realization of network issue system and Solid Edge integration technology.

Abstract: Responding the green commuting, Solid Edge V18 drawing software for the shape and function improvements of existing bicycle is proposed in this paper. Abstract: The three-dimensional CAPP prototype is studied based on Solid Edge platform using the technology of secondary development of VB. The system is able to complete part the selection of machining feature of the part, edit of process information and selection of process. The system finally output process card semi-automatic or automatic, through the module of process edit and the module of process card output module having the support of the process resource management module.

Abstract: A static-stability calculation method for ships which use the second-development of Solid Edge is presented in this paper. The second-development of Solid Edge applied Visual Basic to divide the waterplane and measure the parameters concerned static-stability calculation such as the volume and center of the underwater model. Furturemore, it makes the statics-stability calculation be convenient that the paragraph of static-stability is calculated on the parameters and the dismiss angle is returned. According to the comparison of the experiments and the theory, including different forms of superstructure models, it can be proved that this method is reliable and effective in the static-stability calculation for ships.

Abstract: In order to improve the design efficiency of the crane and its parts to meet the fierce market competition, we developed rapid design system for crane drum. According to GMD theory, this paper takes crane drum for study, and divides it into several modules to form series and modular of crane drum. Summarized the design theory and knowledge of the crane drum and determined the parameters of functional modules. We shift modules from static modules to dynamic modules. By making a second development of Solid Edge with Visual Basic.NET, we developed agile design system for crane drum. After numerous tests in the actual design process, the system can greatly improved the quality and efficiency of design.

The developing method of CAD system of the rolling bearing based on Solid Edge which is used VB as the developing tool is introduced in this paper. This system can realize the design and check of the rolling bearing automatically, realize the integration of the design and drawing, and improve the design quality and efficiency.
